Afternoon All,

Started out with a 2 mile walk today. After cleanup and breakfast I worked outside cleaning up stuff from the storm and putting stuff back on the pool deck. I did discover a small leak on the master bathroom window, It's above the tub so no standing water but you can see where it dripped on it. Currently we are having rain and passing thunderstorms. Tomorrow I have many requirements on me so I'll be back Sunday. At supper we're going out for a free Veteran's meal.

Dave- Not so bad (5"), during Hurricane Ian it was measured in feet in a lot of places. The difference between a fast moving TS compared to a slow moving major hurricane.

James- They are large cats.

TomO- I tried graphite on my last layout and lost all locomotive traction. I ended up cleaning it off. As far as I am concered your priorities are spot on.

Troy- Enjoy your trip. I've never been there.

Willie- Nice layout scenes.

rgeiter- Nice looking kitty.

Jaz- Very nice castle ruin scene.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Curt, very little graphite on the inside edge of the rail. I don’t run long trains normally but no issues with the 28 I was running.

I am home after picking up the SIL at the Dane County airport about 12 miles from the house. Seems the “girls” agenda and the SIL’s on managing the empire differ. Unless he gets the money he wants, he’s not coming back. Doesn’t want a bonus he wants guaranteed money. I don’t work that way and it will take some convincing to change my mind. I believe in incentives!

He will interview Isabel, don’t call her Issey, tomorrow. She likes Beth. If he bills me, he’ll never get another dollar from us, Terry will inform the daughter

I have been at the paint booth and was spraying clear mat varnish and walked away for 5 minutes at the most after the last car. The brush clogged up. 30 minutes later it works fine again. I thought the last time a few weeks ago I had leaned my lesson, I didn’t. do not walk away with varnish in the airbrush

I am on call the until Monday. Trail damage was minimal from the rain, but lots of trees down and some of the stable fences had trees land on them. 1 trail is closed because of trees as the fencing is the priority.

We still are getting winds in the teens but the gusts are 25-30 mph. We will per the weather weenies and the WeatherChannel app stay in the 30’s during the next 10 days.

Going to do some trackwork.

Picking up grandkids as parents are picking up the Kohl's orders and other stuff.

Furnace guys called and asked if they could come early. Heck yes!!!! Figures that gives me most of my afternoon back. Everything good for the season. They even got the rattle out of the humidifier. It's on its 2nd full season. Last one we had went just past its warranty. Whole system is just past its 8th year. Been a good system otherwise.

Good morning from a changed So. Central Wisconsin. Yesterday we made it to 71f degrees and today if we are lucky we might get to 36 for the high.

Those leaves bothering me are gone because I took a mower out of Winter storage and cut them, then blew them away, just finishing as the 34% chance of rain at 3:30 came pouring down. It rained from 3:15 to at least midnight with 2.25“ in the manual rain gauge by the front door. The 2 working computerized weather stations on the property both were higher at 2.62” and 3.41”.

Terry the wife is somewhat annoyed with me. She says I’m not sleeping enough. She has spent time with Isabel and likes her. Seems the daughter and wife have decided the next property manager. The SIL with Isabel as his assistant. He could still run his consulting business. Dinner last night was annoying, but with great Tacos. The grandkids were off at hockey practice and dance class, being watched by the neighborhood twins, who needed some money. It was a great opportunity for the 2 major ladies in my life to gang up on me. I heard a lot last night not much of it wrong but I still am going to interview more people, if they apply. The SIL is back today and I am going to meet him at the airport and we will go to lunch. I need to see what he thinks of this conspiracy. Went to bed at midnight and at my desk at 4:15 because there is no commute.

Trains, spent about 45 minutes letting the trains run last night after I put up the rarely used Continous run section. My normal train is 12 cars and 2 locomotives (it’s a switching layout) but last night was 28 cars. I put some graphite on the mainline at a few locations and just let the train run. I put up my “wall of lights” around my chair in the layout room. I am ready for the lack of sunlight during Wisconsin Winter and “seasonal affective disorder” or SAD that was one of the diagnosis last January for my anxiety issues. Strange never had issues before, but I am ready as I’m not taking chances. 8 panels of 4’ day light LED’s, the same stuff I have lighting the layout behind the valance. Spent a few minutes at the workbench, just didn’t feel like doing anything though.

With the rains and high winds yesterday and overnight the 1st priority at daylight is the fence line around the stable property and then the 3 main trails. I should be getting a report any time now. The wind is howling so drone flying may not be possible this morning. I am off to work!!!

enjoy the day

TomO for SAD take vitamin D3 it really helps. My eldest nephew expiriences SAD and takes it. He lives in Nova Scotia until he graduates with his Masters. He takes it starting every fall into the winter until April. Just a suggestion. You may want to research it or check with your doc 1st.

Already take it daily. As soon as I started in January with it things definitely improved.

Good Morning All !
A nice coat of paint and my benchwork looks brand new. No green paint and no cactus this time.

Swal - Is there no way to do the rehab at home? For my wife's most recent knee surgery, Medicare and Blue Cross sent an in-home therapist out to our house rather than put her in a place that could expose her to Covid.
I don't know Willie? They tell me their sending her to rehab and for me to pick out a rehab center from a list of about 12 places. Before you enter the place you have to take the covid-19 test (pictured below) all though this is the Mass one, and you repeat this every 3 days. What a pain in the rear. Only in NY. They do everything to the extreme. No wonder 200,000 people are moving out of here a month. I wish I was one of them.

I take D3 and Balance of Nature pills every day. I think the Balance of Nature pills work because I'm up at 5am work until 6pm every day and I'm 76 years old. I only have 1 cup of coffee in the morning and 1 cup of green tea later in the day. So it's not caffeine that's driving it. They say that your parathyroid glands regulate the amount of vitamin D3 your body needs. Have one of these 4 glands malfunction and they'll be D3 problems. I had one of these glands removed because of this. The other 3 will pick up the slack.

Morning all,

Got home late as we ended up taking the grandson around to get his Boy Scout popcorn delivered. Kid had a goal to sell $3000, and he accomplished that. Sold more than the rest of the troop.

23° and sunny as I post. Supposed to get to 40°. Sounds like Oklahoma had a wild time last night with snow. I think it stayed mostly between Willie and I. Although, I think it flowed into southeast Kansas and into the Ozarks of Missouri. They are predicting a chance of that crap on Monday, but depends on the track of the next system.

Good Morning All. Clear and 31°, officially our first frost of the season coming 10 days before the average. Freeze again tonight and off and on again for the next ten days. Never got any additional rain yesterday after the 0.05" before dawn. I did drive through a lot of heavy rain on the way to my doctor's appointment south of here. The city his office is in got 0.5". Another chance on Monday. This is the time of year that I don't want any since it tends to not dry out. At least the NW wind stopped overnight.
I had to start the first fire of the season in the wood burning heater yesterday afternoon. It operated without a hitch. I had cleaned it out about two weeks ago, normally the only maintenance needed besides the yearly chimney sweep.

Bad news, the beer fridge out in the train shed failed sometime yesterday, so I now have to buy a new one. Meanwhile I can use the porch! Badder news, the frozen over freezer thawed and the water leaked all over the floor. Nothing train wise was stored there and the floor itself was water-sealed when being built due to rain before the roof went on. Looks like free shipping from HD, Target or Walmart, so I save an extra trip to town.

Thanks to all who commented on or reacted to the grain train pictures yesterday.

Several events transpired out in the train shed yesterday. I worked on that Coca Cola box a bit to get the lettering to stand out, and I painted everything. Up close, it looks like s**t, but from a distance it looks acceptable.

I may touch it up further after seeing it for a while.
Then while rummaging around, I found a small Ziploc with a variety of mostly white metal detail castings.

These are leftover parts from several DPM Gold kits and from some Bar Mills kits. They will provide something to do on the workbench between projects.

Yesterday was a really slow day here in the Coffee Shop. We need to liven it up a bit.
Patrick - I saw all of that snow on the radar yesterday while looking for my elusive rain.

Today is Neil Young's 77 birthday. I like a lot of his music. Unfortunately he got too political for me and I stopped listening to his newer stuff. He is also known for being a part owner of Lionel for a while.

Everybody have a great day and an awesome weekend.

Nice, always enjoy watching your work, not sure how you painted the coke fridge, did you use a brush or roller?

Morning folks!

Swal - NY absolutley sucks with all their politics. It's one extreme after another BUT it is a wonderful state as far as beautiful country upstate. I am not much on city life. Never have been either. I am here as I was born in Saratoga Springs and I came back due to my parents are here. Later in life I will be leaving this state for Alabama most likely. 90% sure that's where I will retire. I will however keep a house here upstate in NY for vacation in the summer season. NY is definitely a nanny state, they will tax the hell outta ya or find a fee for anything to hit ya with. Anyways I feel ya on the ordeal of COVID crap etc.

Well today is a touch and go ordeal. It rained all night. The sun cracked the early dawn briefly up here then the clouds hung low and created a dreary gloomy look for a few hours it was dark and grey. The sun is now making a come back at the moment to dry up some of the rain. Not much though. We shall see. I will be catching up on laundry, unload dishwasher, a little vacuuming and some straightening. Then I may head over to Lowes. I plan on working in the train room this afternoon.

According to my RPO check list I only have 3 outstanding items yet to come in and I have not ordered or bought anything train related in 48 hours 🤣 Now that's funny! I checked the tracking info. I have a pair of white semi tractors coming today. I also have a decal sheet coming from Circus City that will get put to use. Lastly the DDA40X UP 6924 is due next week on the 17th from Calgary, Cananda. It has already made it to Richmond, BC ......just doubled check it now.....says it is in Uslaxa, USA! I had to look that up....it is a

Sorting center USLAXA Named ISC LOS ANGELES CA (USPS), located in United States, and belongs to USPS, United States Postal Service, United States.

...I figured as much. Hey at least it is making it's way to me here hopefully. I hate that I had to buy this from Canada but it was the only place that had the locomotive of that road number and air raid horn detail & feature. I looked every where else with no luck. So hopefully it arrives in good condition. I did see one on ebay last month that went to 700 bucks and I couldn't justify that. I still have 2 more big locomotive purchases yet to acquire at that high end price and details. I am still looking for a Challenger 3985 and FEF 844 steam locomotives for my heritage roster. I already have my E8s that may get upgraded to newer releases we will see. Time will tell. I love the bull nose E units. I have 11 of them in various E6s, E7s and E8s. JR's UPRR doesn't really have a time line as I didn't want to pin myself down to a specific era. My RR my rules right?

Well my anxiety of my sister heart surgery is building up. She goes in Monday. I will be talking to her later today.

Alright I am off to go get a few things accomplished. I hope to get a few layout pictures done for my JR's UPRR thread today we shall see as it has been a while since I posted an update there.

Ya'll have a good weekend.

Peace!

Last week NYC mayor Admas said don't be alarmed only a small percentage of people are being pushed onto the subway tracks. Fox News had some of these people who survived their attack on and they have a different take on his comments. Why was I just minding my own business on my way to work and now end up disabled.
