It looks like both of my packages went into the USPS black hole. Last status was 12May and 16May as being on their way to next destination from SF. I guess I won't be getting that Budd RDC...

Of course they are going to use the fire in south california as their excuse. That, or they were doing their nails or something else as lame.

But, I was able to pick up two more sheets of 1" foam. Now how did he get those 4x8 sheets into the trunk of a Toyota Camry?
Get a roof rack. And two sheets of OSB or plywood. Put as many sheets of foam in between as you want. Bungie.

My car is 2016 Audi A3 hatchback (e-tron PHEV). I have a rack and it was my construction truck during the house project. Carried lots of sheets of foam as well as other stuff with it.

Gah, woke up at 3:30 with a headache.

Don't worry, the cat is here to help. With weather changes, and the odd firework in the vicinity, he's hunkered in his basement bunker. I swear, on of these days... I'll come down to the basement and see him like this...

Now that the ibuprofen are kicking In, I'll try for a few more hours of sleep. BBL

Good morning folks. 65°F out there and partly sunny. Probably going to be overcast within a few hours as a warm front approaches from the south. Showers developing tomorrow because of the front.

Absolutely have to cut grass today or I'll have to turn loose the goats and sheep.

The RF adapters I ordered from Amazon that I spoke of earlier in the week ended up at a town about 20 miles from here at 0645 this morning, and then magically appeared in my town at 0656 and is out for delivery. I'd sure like to see the vehicle that made that trip on winding country roads in 11 minutes. I also found out that Amazon contracts with USPS to deliver on Sundays and holidays. I thought they had ended that agreement???

Maybe that was with UPS or Fed-Up.

home depot, lowes and walmart all block overseas viewers. I have to turn on my vpn. so silly.

I have to do the same thing on some German TV channels and for certain programs. If it doesn't look like I'm located in Germany, no TV for me.

Everyone have a safe holiday. Servus!

Good morning. Made the donut run to the local Kwik Trip with the granddaughter. I have enough sugar in me forbtge week! But damn it was goooood!

Weather will be dry today with the high in the mid 80’s. 24% chance of wetness at 9am but single digit %s the rest of the day.

Depending on when the granddaughter heads home is when I will decide about some modeling today. I seem easily distracted the last few days which is tough on my modeling. I used to get up around 5:15 grab a Diet Dr Pepper and work at the bench till about 6:30- 7:00. Now if I’m at the bench by 10am I’m pretty happy

I cancelled out of a OPS Session for tomorrow in the Appleton, Wi area 2 hours away. I told the guys I drive with I’m cutting back the long drive sessions. Terry gets a kick out of a 4.5 hour round trip in the car for a 4 hour session and I’m beginning to think she is right. With so many local (30 minutes or less driving) layouts, why are we driving so far?

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Happy Memorial Day. Clear and 66°, expected to maybe reach 85° with partly cloudy later on. Beautiful day in store for us.

Yesterday was a busy day in the garden, I picked about 5# of Green Beans and some still "fit to eat" Lettuce. I also spent almost 45 minutes gathering Tomato branches and tucking them into their individual cages. I'll be back to the Green Beans this afternoon and will pressure-can them tomorrow. I should mow today, but maybe not.
Instead of grilling today, I am cooking a Corned Beef in the crockpot, along with Carrots, Onions, Celery and Cabbage. No Potatoes today as we're kinda back on the low-carb diet!

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was a shortened visit as most Sundays are. I did most of the remaining work on the double grade crossing; cutting, fitting, filing, verifying and gluing. Looking good right now.

Mac - My only experience with VW, was my 1961 Beetle, bought used in 1972 for $400. At the time, it was just turning over 100K miles, I think. Back then VW's odometer only had 5 digits! I put another 300K miles on it before getting rid of it in 1978. Wished that I had kept it for much longer.
Mike - High school memories for me don't include Boone's Farm. But they do include 3 quarts of Old Milwaukee for $1.
Michael - The interesting thing about USPS delivering on Sundays for Amazon, is that it is the only time that USPS actually comes to my house! Took me by surprise the first time that it happened.

Everybody have a great Memorial Day. Remember why we actually celebrate today. Be safe.

I've had a chance to buy a 1966 Beattle for only about $3500. Been kicking myself in the a$s for not getting it. It was restored several years prior and in good running condition.

Well, what started as a quiet morning, has now gone to hell. Looks like today is the day for the local crop-duster to visit neighboring fields. While he doesn't get close to me while spraying, he makes his turnabouts over or near the SFW estate!
Pictures from previous years.

His Dad before him in the early '80's, used to fly in under the power lines before some fields got fenced, thus tightening the clearance.

Amazon still sends some stuff by USPS. Not as much as they used to.

It was UPS that ended the Amazon contract. Amazon still occasionally uses UPS if needed but it’s not a go-to shipper for them like it once was.

In my area, even on weekends, most Amazon deliveries are by Amazon truck or vehicle. But we have a huge Amazon distribution center 2 miles away.

I think Amazon uses USPS and other carriers mostly when the item is in a warehouse far away and their usual long haul routes don’t cover it to move it to a distribution center near you.

ETA: and in some areas for weekend deliveries.
