Good morning gang!

It’s 49 degrees and clear, heading to a high of 81 degrees.
Heading to #4 sons college commencement. It is an hour away and the doors open at 8 am. Wifey is already in panic mode. She picked out 2 different outfits last night, now neither one will do. Aaaargh! Women!!!

Tracking info shows my glue tape kit to finish installing the replacement computer screen is out for delivery today, so I can permanently attach the screen to the computer and stop having to view everything in "ski jump mode" with the screen tilted way back to keep from dumping the screen--again. I'm currently keeping the screen in place with bits of duct tape in select locations around the outer edge of the screen, but, knowing Murphy is waiting, I'm not going to tempt fate.

Wife decided to pull the onions today since we have a few days of sunny days
Kusojiji - I don't know how things work on your side of the Pacific, or anything about the Onion varieties over there, but my opinion is that she picked too early. I let the tops die back almost completely (85-99% of the crop) before harvesting. That seals the neck to prevent water and bacteria infiltration and retains flavor. Picking them green is OK for immediate usage, but they aren't ready for long-term storage; at least not the varieties that we grow here in the states. Some individual onions (thick necks) never die back and should be used first.
Just my 2¢. Otherwise they look great.
This is a good web site to explain it all.

I do leeks every couple of years and a local farmer told me to wait until after the first frost to pull them. I'm not sure of the reason, but they are sweet.

Well howdy there internet peeps, and those with leeky onions

It's Troy again.

Heading out to the game store in a few minutes. Got a game scheduled with a friend.

Also had to clean up cat barf on the stairs to the Troy-Cave. Fortunately, I saw the tonal shift on the stairway carpet and avoided stepping in it on the way down. But that took some scrubbing and an application of the hand-held carpet cleaner.

Nothing new to report here. Still wording the words. Got 1500+ of the pesky things aligned this morning.

BBL.

Good morning to the farmers of the forum. Terry will plant her garden beds over the next 3-4 days as we are finally past the typically last day of frost. Enjoy those harvests

Power was out at 6:50am when I had to get up. Wondered why my generator had not kicked in? While in the bathroom it did so I must have gotten up during that 30 second delay before the generator takes over. About an hour later all power was restored. Probably another squirrel trying their luck at the local sub station.

At midnight when I crawled into bed I could hear thunder in the distance. Then closer as I couldn’t sleep and laid there solving all the world’s problems. Then it was on top of us literally shaking the house. It was really intense then the rain showed up! Then it moved on, all between midnight and 1:20 when I last remember looking at the clock. Now to remember all those solutions to world problems

Texted the grandson at 6:30 last night asking about his hockey game he played in the Chicago area. Asked did you play, did you have fun? Answer yes and yes! So texted his dad and asked he replied they won 9-1 and Brooks had 4 goals and 3 assists. Good for him but similar to his mom and dad if you don’t ask a specific question you’ll get a general response

That’s some fire in Maine at the lumber mill! Wow, hope the injured will be alright

I may make the 4 mile trip to the LHS for a specific product # of Evergreen styrene cladding. I have others here but was going for a specific look and Terry looked at the pieces I had yesterday and said there is no difference. So maybe I go just to go…

Enjoy the day

Good morning. A slightly late start today after sleeping until nearly 0800 because the neighbor left the dogs out overnight. Three times awakened last night at various hours. I was too lazy to get up and go get the phone to call the police so I just tried to sleep through it. Not.

If that happens again tonight I will have the phone on the nightstand.

Light showers on and off this morning until around lunch time. Temp now at 72°F heading for 85°F and it's going to feel every bit of it too with a dewpoint of 68° currently. Not soupy in the house because I closed it up last night before bed, but it will eventually creep into the house too.

Nothing planned today, just taking it easy. Hopefully the rain subsides and we see some sun after noon.

Have a good weekend! Servus!

Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 70°, a tad warm for this time of year. The last minute addition of rain in yesterday's forecast didn't pan out, although conditions were right for it. Still have a week of thunderstorms in our forecast, although the NWS has backed the beginning up until Tuesday, since yesterday's forecast. I trust my weather rock more!

Had the tech from Safelite out yesterday to replace the windshield on the Accura. My wife went over the options with our insurance company earlier and we decided to have the Lexus done at the dealership instead of our driveway. There's just too many sensors and stuff that need to be calibrated in that one. Would have required a visit to them anyway, and we have our last free service call in the next week or so. Get it all taken care of in one trip there instead of two. Both windshield damage incidents were caused by road debris as far as we know. The Accura had one pit hole for almost a year before the second, so we finally got it done. Most of my day was spent on yard maintenance, i.e. mowing and weedeating. I was able to start earlier because there was no dew. Mower still works on wet grass, but just not as well.
My grandson #1 seems to be making the most out of his college classes in Italy at the moment. He has a three-day weekend and is currently over in Greece visiting his girlfriend who is studying in a similar situation there. My wife is tracking him with her phone app! Can't get away from the prying eyes of Grandma without turning off his phone...an unlikely scenario for a 19 year old!

Still have another 1/3 acre or so to mow this morning, and I need to prepare for my other grandson who's coming by tomorrow to "work". It's Grandma's way to give away my hard-earned money. Not sure what she has in mind, but I will have him assist in taking off the pool cover and clearing brush and fallen branches from around the homestead.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I cleaned up another dozen or so structures. Nothing special about any of them, just the usual cobwebs, dried insect parts and fallen figures. At least no rodent droppings on them or around any parts of the layout where they came from. As with many others this week, Most of these got their detail upgrading and paint refurbishment on the last go-around.

Karl - Congratulations to your son.

I have read studies regarding people who text prior to falling asleep when in their beds. Apparently they don't remember the last 30 minutes or so of doing it! I cannot speak from experience since I don't text and my phone is on the computer desk in "Do Not Disturb" mode from 8:00 pm until 8:00 am anyway.

Gotta go and visit the pharmacy on the shelf right now. Everybody have a great and safe Saturday.

Good morning all!

Late start for me as well. Awoke by the crazy dog at around 3:30am for a severe storm that arrived at around 4:15. Heavy rain,
lots of house shaking thunder, and high winds. I haven't been out, but will bet town has some tree limbs down. Its moved on
out of the area and is partly sunny, but very humid. High today is supposed to reach 85F, and 87F tomorrow. A/C is going on
as we speak.

Have some laundry to do, weekly grocery shopping, and mowing to get done today. Going to be a busy today.

Not much else going on at the moment.

Have a safe day everyone!

That’s interesting and I will check into it. I keep my phone on a dresser mayb 6’ away from me at night. The night stand next to me holds a lamp nothing else. That about as far away my phone ever gets from me. I carry my phone but unlike the younger folks than me my head is not in it at all times. I just chuckle seeing people walking in airports how they have their phones in their face at all times. Dinner at our houses including guests have to drop their phones off in the basket in the great room. No phones at the kitchen bar or table. My IPadPro stays overnight downstairs in the cave.

Good morning, all! We have a great start for a warm day as it is already 82 degrees. Next week appears to be a rain out with 50% or more predicted everyday right into the holiday. Our son and d-i-l will be visiting next week from Oregon. Bad timing.

I ran a few trains and was going to take an engineer's view video with a tiny camera. Charged the camera overnight, position cars on sidings, got two trains pacing each other, hit the power button on the camera, nothing, nada. I guess the battery in the camera no longer takes a charge.

STAY SAFE

Went to another MMR clinic this morning. "O scale structures". He showed how he built jigs to cut scale cedar shingles, scribe plastic for individual bricks, roof stringers, windows, etc. Truly a Master Model Builder. He used Gatorfoam ( https://gatorfoam.net/ ), for the core of the structure. He completely scratch builds his structures. Amazing work, but waaaay more than I would ever want to do. He cuts window glass from slide covers and builds the windows on the glass, in a jig.

I'm going back later this afternoon for clinic on acrylic weathering, then the banquet.
