I've seen that the Spectrum stuff is much better, but is that line still in production?
I don't think any of the Spectrum line has been produced in twenty years.

I have some Bachmann (DCC Equipped), from the 90s before they got expensive. While they lack detail they run fairly well. Note: I replaced the couplers with Kadee, and replaced the OEM decoders with Digitrax. The worst were the GE 44 ton. and the Gas Car. The RS3, GP7, GP9 and Baldwin Sharks are decent.

Well I have been fiddling with building placement on the Fox Mesa Section. I have it to meeting the Missus' approval, which means a lot as she has an eye that gets me lots of compliments.

Bill, thank you for posting such a great breakfast picture. I think the Missus and I might hit Cracker Barrel tomorrow just because I am now craving biscuits and gravy.
67 here and real pretty, waiting for a guy to come to measure the bathroom for a new shower. I have already been working on some more of the resin buildings for the layout and have most of the window work done. Now to paint N scale people [whimper] to populate the scenes. I have 90 + ready for paint, they are supposedly prepainted but they are the typical Chinesium paint jobs, so they have to be redone. Also another 120 Preiser unpainted ones on the way.

That's Dean Winchester food (still watching Supernatural).

Good evening, it's sunny and 87.
The replacement screen was on my front porch when I got home a few minutes ago. I prepared and ate dinner, cleaned off the table, and proceeded to replace the screen on the computer. It took about 20 minutes, and I am using it now to type this message. Of course, the adhesive kit hasn't arrived yet, not until tomorrow or so, which means the screen is held in place by several pieces of tape, and the assembly is tilted back slightly, just in case.
Sometimes, you get the bear. Sometimes, the bear gets you. I'm not sure which this is, but it looks like the computer will be with me for a couple more years. Unless I dump it off the desk again...

Not a bear, but had a visitor in the driveway a minute ago. Went to put the trashcan out and saw a snake. Thankfully this time it wasn't a water moccasin, just a little Black Racer. Glad to have those around as they keep the mice down. But if it would get into the garage my dear wife would leave a puddle with lots of sound effects.

I don't have moccasin's, copperheads or rattlers in my world. Just Rat Snakes (aka chicken snakes) or green snakes. Any snake scares my wife even though I have repeatedly told her any on our property are harmless. It's pretty amusing to see a 5'-6' Rat Snake who has recently swallowed a real rat and has a large bulge in their stomach. They have trouble moving away!

Looks like BNSF is going to do 3 250th Anniversary locomotives..

In the 15 years I've been here, I've seen one snake. A medium size Garter Snake about eight years or so ago. He was out on a warm spring day sunning himself before Lisl walked up to him and scared the crap out of him. Haven't seen a snake in the yard since.

I bet they are out there, but they move away before I get to where they are.

I've only had to kill one Copperhead here, but now I'm up to 4 Moccasins since moving here 5 years ago. Our subdivision has several fishing ponds, so that attracts them. Most snakes, including Copperheads will try to avoid people, but those Moccasins are very aggressive, enough so that I keep a .38 loaded with snake shells on top of the fridge.

Good morning, Everybody!

I watched yesterday's Cardinals @ the A's game on MLB.TV. The Big Amish, Nick Kurtz lead off with a 442' homerun ending Michael McGreevy's scoreless innings streak. Both of these teams are playing well above expectations.

McGreevy is a fun pitcher to watch. He’s not overpowering and doesn’t boast an exceptionally high spin rate, but he has great command and knows how to pitch. He was efficient, going 6 innings with 5 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, 1 earned run, and just 74 pitches. It makes you wonder why he didn’t continue. As soon as he was pulled, the Cardinals’ bullpen surrendered the lead. The Red Birds battled back with 2 runs in the 9th to save the day, but the bullpen ultimately cost McGreevy the win. I'll never understand why managers don't let starting pitchers at least approach 100 pitches.

All is well in Southeast Baltimore.

Morning all.................

I suvived another birthday Thursday. Seems like they come every year now. 🤪

I posted some info and pics on my first 3D prints in the "wiring, electronics and DCC" forum. There is some other info about my turnout-servo brackets and wiring.

I bought a ROKU box about 15 years ago. It was their latest at the time, a "ROKU 3". Well, the remote gave out last night so I have one on the way from an e-bay seller in Katy Texas. The replacement will probably outlast me. The remote should be here Saturday.......no TV until then.
I have a "smart-aleck" TV, but I am not going through all the steps of "set-up", pass words, sign-ins and signing away all my rights and freedoms concerning my privacy just to watch for 2 days. With my ROKU box it only takes two button presses to get me to the ROKU menu. I still have YouTube to watch on my confuser and plenty of things to keep me busy.

I have some layout structures that still need to be finished. Seems I've spent most of my time lately with the 3D software stuff. Wasted almost a month trying to make FREEcad work only to find out that there is a couple of issues with the March release version that I was using. I may go back to FREEcad in a while but the ONshape software I'm using now, is much easier to use with plenty of features.

I killed a 32 inch long rattle snake about 6 months ago......13 buttons. He was right by my back step. He had to go. I've seen others on the roads around here but not many near my property. Supposedly there are some copperheads around but I have yet to see one. When we lived in east Texas many years ago, copperheads were a thing. We killed abut ten or twelve in the two years we were there.
One of the high school students got bit by a copperhead while playing outfield in a school ball game. He stumbled into a hole with a family of copperhesds. He did not make it to the hospital. We could never leave any wood or metal pieces laying flat on the ground as the copperheads loved hiding underneath those items. Anything we stacked or stored outside was always on raised supports.

No NMRA for me. I was a member about five years ago, but they could never decide, or figure out, what division I should belong to. And I don't need one of their certificates to hang on my wall that tells me I'm good at wiring, installing DCC, building structures or whatever. I have talents given to me by my "Higher Power" and all the praise for the work I'm able to do goes to Him. But, thats just me.

Everybody have agreat day......John

Good morning. It's clear and 73.
Trying to decide if I want to replace the spinning hard drive in this AIO before I seal up the screen. Right now, storage prices for SSDs are insanely high, but when the computer uses the spinning hard drive instead of the SSD, everything slows to a crawl. This is a RAID-type system that Apple calls a Fusion drive, with a 128GB ssd that holds the operating system and some of the more commonly used files, and a spinning hard drive for the larger files. It currently has a 2TB hard drive, and I would normally replace it with another 2TB ssd without a thought, but where last year I could get a 2TB ssd nearly anywhere for less than $100 with change left over, a 2TB ssd now is approaching $300. A 1TB not-high-quality-brand 1TB version is $120.
If I had thought about that part of the equation, good used "new" iMacs with l1TB of ssd storage are around what I would end up paying for the replacement screen and upgraded storage type. And not have to worry about being left behind, as far as the operating system.
Or, I could just keep what I have put everything back together, and deal with the glacial storage speed.
Decisions, decisions...
