Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Currently a windy, cloudy morning. Its 53F with an expected high of 76F. A chance of scattered rain till noon then
we might see the sun.

Usual household duties today. Nothing planned for tonight.

Thats about all thats happening at the moment in my world.

Have a safe day everyone!

62°F out there this morning at 0800. Supposed to be in the mid-80s today with increasing dewpoints before storms tomorrow evening and overnight. But it will be warm for the next several days. I hope not humid enough to have to turn on the A/C. Maybe in the bedroom upstairs.

Happy belated birthday WesttexJohn!

Laundry today, but only a small load. I saved the brats until today when I knew it would be warmer outside, so that is what's-for-dinner from the grill today.

I hope everyone has a safe weekend. Servus!

Good morning gang!

Happy belated birthday John!

Dr visit yesterday was fun. The bent my legs and hips in all kinds of directions, X-rayed me along with the regular 20+ questions. They are putting me on a 15 day steroid plan then a re-evaluation. I still am going to son #4s college commencement on Saturday come hell or high water, but I have transferred the Dover race tickets to my boss. There is no way I could drive in my truck and then walk to the grandstands Sunday.
I can ride to work, 15 -20 minutes before I have to move my legs to avoid pain. Wife is driving Saturday so I can endure the 1 hour ride to the college. I'll never make the 3 hr drive to Dover.

happy Friday everyone!!

Good morning from Wisconsin. Another beautiful day where the guessers are saying we will venture into the low 80’s.

Other than traveling this is the 1st Friday in forever it seems I am not heading out to a work session or OPS Session. Every bone in the body has been hurting the last couple of weeks so I thought I’d rest today.

There are no grandson games to attend this weekend as he is in the Chicago area playing hockey. 1st game is 4:30 today in Tinley Park. His soccer coach the SIL told me he is furious. Missing 5 players for 4 games the parents told him not to schedule this weekend because of this hockey tournament. With 2 injured non hockey players and 2 swimmers out who also told him about this before the season the team can only field 9 players of the 11 they need. Maybe next time he’ll listen to parents

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 71°, high today in the upper-80's. Oooops! They have added a 35% chance of rain later today to the forecast, wasn't there last night. NWS is still predicting rain for every day next week.

Yesterday's grocery trek went well, no stock-outs of anything on my list. Still waiting for the costs to drop on something other than eggs! The young ladies shopping there were adorned with their summer wear and that enhanced the visual end. Gasoline prices have dropped back below $4, with $3.79/gal being posted most everywhere. Still too high. Neighbor Marty is happy though; he had inherited a 1/16 interest in a single oil well a few years ago, and has a passive income of around $1500/month right now. That fluctuates with the price of a barrel of oil but has never been below $850/month.
My new electric push mower arrived around 4:30 yesterday, and it ran fine right out of the box. It will get a workout over the next few days. I knew that it didn't come with a battery or charger (I already have 2 of each), but it did come with an unexpected grass catcher. It's advertised as running 50 minutes on a single battery charge, but I never pushed my previous models to see! I mainly use it to cut in those hard to get at (on the tractor) areas around the pool, firewood stacks and trees. BONUS: I don't need any hearing protection when using it!

The weather today will dictate what I might do later. There's no dew this morning, so mowing won't be an issue whether on the tractor or pushing the new mower.

I didn't spend any time out in the train shed yesterday due to the new mower arrival. Some assembly and of course I had to try it out.

Michael -
That's not far from the truth, except the P228 is lying on its wrong side.
That's what I observed as well.
David (Marlin)- That gas station that you posted yesterday looks great. Whoever did it deserves compliments. But as I have discovered, the one that I did cannot be seen without removing the roof and it's at eye level on the upper deck. Spent a couple of days painting details that are only known to me!

John - Belated Happy Birthday.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday.

Morning all.................

I suvived another birthday Thursday. Seems like they come every year now. 🤪

I posted some info and pics on my first 3D prints in the "wiring, electronics and DCC" forum. There is some other info about my turnout-servo brackets and wiring.

I bought a ROKU box about 15 years ago. It was their latest at the time, a "ROKU 3". Well, the remote gave out last night so I have one on the way from an e-bay seller in Katy Texas. The replacement will probably outlast me. The remote should be here Saturday.......no TV until then.
I have a "smart-aleck" TV, but I am not going through all the steps of "set-up", pass words, sign-ins and signing away all my rights and freedoms concerning my privacy just to watch for 2 days. With my ROKU box it only takes two button presses to get me to the ROKU menu. I still have YouTube to watch on my confuser and plenty of things to keep me busy.

I have some layout structures that still need to be finished. Seems I've spent most of my time lately with the 3D software stuff. Wasted almost a month trying to make FREEcad work only to find out that there is a couple of issues with the March release version that I was using. I may go back to FREEcad in a while but the ONshape software I'm using now, is much easier to use with plenty of features.

I killed a 32 inch long rattle snake about 6 months ago......13 buttons. He was right by my back step. He had to go. I've seen others on the roads around here but not many near my property. Supposedly there are some copperheads around but I have yet to see one. When we lived in east Texas many years ago, copperheads were a thing. We killed abut ten or twelve in the two years we were there.
One of the high school students got bit by a copperhead while playing outfield in a school ball game. He stumbled into a hole with a family of copperhesds. He did not make it to the hospital. We could never leave any wood or metal pieces laying flat on the ground as the copperheads loved hiding underneath those items. Anything we stacked or stored outside was always on raised supports.

No NMRA for me. I was a member about five years ago, but they could never decide, or figure out, what division I should belong to. And I don't need one of their certificates to hang on my wall that tells me I'm good at wiring, installing DCC, building structures or whatever. I have talents given to me by my "Higher Power" and all the praise for the work I'm able to do goes to Him. But, thats just me.

Everybody have agreat day......John
Happy belated birthday John

Yesterday was a busy day for me..
A couple months ago, I posted where our church TOOLBOX TEAM built a wood walkway for a handicapped man. While loading up the wood for the build, the big box workers bent the tailgate on my pickup. The tailgate would no longer close. The store's insurance finally settled and issued me a check, but I had to get the tailgate fixed on my own.
Yesterday, I found a "local" used tailgate about 50 miles away and bought it. I dropped by a friend's body shop and he installed the newer tailgate, as It had to be adjusted to open and close correctly so it was worth him installing it. It was a pleasant surprise to relace the tailgate for less than $200.00 and 8 hours of my time.
I got home just before my wife left for the funeral for an old long time neighbor, so I went to the funeral with her. Afterwards, we had a late lunch and I got a nap before dinner when we got home. After dinner, I made a grocery run. After the groceries were put away, I found a barrel load for an HO truck I have been working on.
Then I went to bed, finally. A very full, active day for me.
I will take a picture of the HO truck and post it later.

Heard on the noon news today that now the FBI is becoming involved in the St. Louis mail problems. Seems there have been widespread incidences of check washing and mail fraud from internal sources.

This is in addition to abandoned mail and undelivered packages and mail.

They need to fire the entire staff right up to the head cheese and start over again.

I wasn't able to go to any of the clinics yesterday afternoon. I needed to take my mom to meet with 5 doctors, surgeons, and PA's. She's like an old vintage car. Eventually something wears out and needs to be replaced. She has a heart valve that needs to be replaced via a catheter. Pretty simple procedure up through the artery in the groin. They could not believe the physical condition she was in for 93 and with the aortic valve about 70% calcified. She has no pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, nothing. It will probably get done in a couple of weeks.

I went to a scenery clinic this morning. My skills are way advanced compared to the information being presented. The presenter did a good job of presenting his techniques, but it seemed like 1970's/1980's techniques. When I heard "Zip Texturing" I knew I wasn't going to sit through the second half. This would have been a great clinic for a newbie just getting into the hobby, but there wasn't any of those attending. I plan on attending a clinic this afternoon on painting brass engines. The presenter does it professionally so it should be good.

A friend sold his layout and supplies a couple years ago and I bought several metal vehicle kits. There were two water tank kits and I recently started to assemble them. I found one kit was missing the tank and frame, so i was going to have to fabricate part of the second lit to make a model.
I built one truck as a water sprinkler truck. (These were used to settle the dust on gravel and dirt roads years ago. My grandfather worked for the county in Kansa and drove a horse drawn water sprinkler wagon in the 1920's.)
The other kit, I made into a flatbed truck. Last night,. I finally found a load for the flatbed and can now consider the project done.

Happy Friday to all........................

Many thanks for those who took time offer up their "Happy Birthday" wishes. That means a lot to me.

I'm going to assemble some servo switch machines today after finally getting my pieces 3D printed. I assembled eight of them last night.
You can see the pieces I printed in the "wiring, electronics and DCC" forum.
As I stated before, I'll be offering the "stl" printing files for anyone interested in using this type of set-up. Files offered for FREE.

I also have some structures that need finishing and I hope to get to some of that today.

That breakfast photo....."steak, taters and eggs" sure looks goods. I'm going to the kitchen now.

Take care....John

The afternoon clinics were ok. The one about the history of the Willamette Valley railways was really well done, but for "that guy" sitting in the front row that had to open his pie hole and make a comment about every slide.

I didn't get a table at the swap meet. Smart move on my part. Maybe 10-15 tables of new stuff.

I took some more photos from the contest room. O scale steeple cab, an On30 MoW water car, and an HO scale fish/ice house and saw sharpeners shed.

Wife decided to pull the onions today since we have a few days of sunny days and rain guessed on Wed. Once this is all hanging in the house, I'll start ammending for the next crop, which will be sweet potatos on one side, cucumbers, egg plant, bell peppers, and something else, not sure yet.
ONIONS 80.jpg

We have about 8 planters of potatos going. I also am starting carrots, but that'll probably be just bug food.
