Good Morning All. Cloudy and 50° to begin our 2-day cold spell. Only 65° for the high today, a return to the 80's by the weekend.

Another uneventful day here yesterday. My grandson #1 flew to Rome Italy yesterday to start a summer semester at some university there. My wife has been tracking him with some app on her phone, I think that it is Life360 or something like that. The whole immediate family has it and she's constantly spying on their locations. I made her remove it from my phone after she installed it a couple of years ago. Not that I go anywhere that she doesn't already know about, but it's my principles regarding "big brother". Really doesn't always matter since I don't always carry the phone with me anyway!

Not sure what today will bring yet. It's starting off well in a passive manner. My stock holdings in AMD have gone up $55 per share since yesterday, so I have made a five figure gain in one day. Wish that I had bought more shares when I had the chance 18 months ago. While today's gain is just 15%, in 18 months it has made a 200% gain for me. Since I am a buy and hold person rather than a trader, we'll see where it goes.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I just piddled about and also ran some trains. I did the fence for that home by the ground throw, a low one so I would still have easy access to the throw.

Added a dog to the backyard of the left-most home.

The cat in the next picture was actually added the day before, but the picture didn't work.

Now to search out a couple more residents and fill the church parking lot with vehicles.

Chad - You're correct about Cinco de Mayo just being celebrated by a single state in Mexico. An good analogy could be San Jacinto Day celebrated here in Texas, but unknown in the rest of the states.
Kevin - Thanks for your input regarding the church scene.
Mikey - Good luck to your son on getting his paper published.
Karl -
The guy in the Bentley was thinking about Willie? How strange, and how did you know that??
He was referring to my post earlier about his visit to Southlake TX, which is a rather upscale town between Ft Worth and me. Median income in that city is over $250K.
Snowman - I believe that you are correct in identifying that girl in the Beach Boys video as Reese Witherspoon. The photo was from a later movie and was not actually from the 60's.
Tom O - Grace Slick's vocal on White Rabbit is a masterpiece that still blows me away today, 60 years later.

Rocker Bob Segar is 81 today.
Everybody have a wonderful Wednesday.

The two were often pigeonholed into the "easy listening" niche, but it did sell them short. IMO. Richard was a truly talented composer and, as heard here, a talented player too.
People don’t realize it but Karen Carpenter was a killer drummer.

Good day to all.........

I am a bit surprised (unless I missed it) that no one has mentioned Linda Ronstadt as a vocal talent. I don't think I have heard anything by her that I did not like. Her duet with Aaron Neville (from the Neville Brothers band) singing "Song of Bernadette" is killer, not to mention Linda singing "Silver Threads & Golden Needles".
My music tastes run from Blues, early Country & Western (not the crossover crap you hear now) rock from the late 60s (Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton with Cream & John Mayall's BluesBreakers, and many more). Some old Do-Wop still sounds good to me also. Don't count Roy Orbison out, what a range in his voice. While not exactly a big fan, I also liked Beyonce singing Etta James tunes in the movie "Cadillac Records".
Alvin Lee with Ten Years After doing "I'm Going Home" from Woodstock just never gets old.

I've given the 3D printing software a break but hope to get back into the ONshape program today or tomorrow. In the meantime, I've been working on a scene on my layout just because I felt like putting a few kits together. I'm waiting for some HO light fixtures so that has kinda slowed progress a bit.

Low 60s here today but should be nice out today with plenty of sunshine. Might make a run to town to pick up just a few items at the grocery store and drop off my phone bill at the "Tin Can & String" phone company. Their moto is : We make internet slow.

Take care....John

Good morning folks, working my way through the first pot of "40 weight" coffee. 52 here with rain and storms coming in. Fellow coming this afternoon to give an estimate on having the shower redone in the master bathroom. So need to get some projects moved/put away before he arrives.

On Female singers, I agree ABBA was awesome, I got to go to their last US tour [my GF at the time loved disco] and also to Donna Summer. All I can say is WOW on Miss Summer, what an incredible voice. And another powerful voice, spanning 2 octaves is Pat Benatar, that tiny little gal can absolutely belt it out.

She played quite a bit on her albums and live performances until about 1972, IIRC. After that, (if that was the correct year) she sang only.

Pat Benatar is my favorite rock singer. She is a classically trained singer and can do opera as well.

Good morning, all! The sun is in and out this morning, with rain predicted for later. Temps are in the high 80's, and like Willie, we have seen 90's already. Not a good omen. Rain is forecasted through Mother's Day. It would appear that the April showers were delayed and are just now arriving.

There is a song, Touching Feeling Each Other ???, I believe by Journey that's good until the end, where it drags on and on. Na Na de Na Ne Na etc.
Female voice, Thersa Brewer. How about Annette Fullofjello?
First record purchased, Asia Minor by Kokomo, and yes, I still have it.

I did get to run some trains Monday. A puzzle arose while running a passenger train. I don't keep the passenger train on the layout, not enough sidings for the heavyweights, so I remove them until I want to run them. They ran great before, Monday one car would derail when it the fourth position and the observation car would derail at the rear. Moved the car from the fourth position to second and no more derailing. Observation car continued to derail in one spot on the layout. No other car or locomotive derailed there, just the observation car.
