Thank you, Louis.
I never knew my mother, but I know she knows all about me and is within my heart, always.
These are beautiful! But maybe I'm missing something, since I have no scenery for my layout. How is all that blue colour appearing on objects? hihi! It's neat but it caught my attention as an experienced amateur photographer. Is it edited or some kind of paint?Yesterday I was cleaning up the layout and touching up the scenery when I decided to mess around with the camera and take some “night time” pictures. The one of the gas station is my favorite.

Very nice. The model is based on a PRR Watchman's Cabin. When the C&P RR was in the process of reopening the former PRR/PC Freehold Branch, they discovered one at the Allaire Road Crossing, hidden by years of overgrowth. The crossing protection was automated in the mid 1960s. It was an expanded version with an attached privy in the rear, and was in surprisingly good condition.I have just finished another structure
The kit he built from doesn't include the outhouse, which attaches to the rear, for the watchman's convenience. You have heated outhouses? And windows?
Doesn't it require a"special medical condition" to have an outhouse attached to one's rear? The kit he built from doesn't include the outhouse, which attaches to the rear, for the watchman's convenience.
Guess it depends...Doesn't it require a"special medical condition" to have an outhouse attached to one's rear?
I have my switching layout in a shadow box and I have rope lights that I can change the color. I use blue lighting for night time operation and "white" lighting for daytime operations. I love taking pictures of models and try to make it look like it's full size. These are beautiful! But maybe I'm missing something, since I have no scenery for my layout. That's one of the two hump yards. I had to zoom way in so I'm sorry for the shaky video and grainy but you can still see the hump yard in action.Wow, that last picture - crazy grade!
Are all those engines getting ready for scrap?
Videos are showing as "Private" with black screen. Can you make sure you've set them to share?Video of yard sorry I thought I was moving slow but some of it is panning to fast. Hope you can see everything.
Looks like an amazing facility! We're on the road traveling and stopped in North Platte for a couple days. Went to the UP Bailey yard. First time here and IT'S BIG !!
Here are some pictures.
Fixed. I noticed that when I looked on my phone. ThanksVideos are showing as "Private" with black screen. Can you make sure you've set them to share?
Good video, I have never seen a hump yard in action. I programmed the hump yard, at Colton Ca. but never saw it in action. That's one of the two hump yards. I had to zoom way in so I'm sorry for the shaky video and grainy but you can still see the hump yard in action.
There are no engines that are there are scrap. They just don't have the call for them at this time. They said about 75% of the engines actually running over the line. The rest are stored here when business picks up. Some are in for repairs and others are just waiting to be put back in service.
Again sorry for the shaky video but it is cool nun the less.
I am not an expert, but it's main purpose is to sort cars by gravity. An engine of some sort pushes cars up the hump, a yard hand pulls the coupler release lever at the top and the cars roll down the hill. Someone in a tower lines the switches and the cars go into a predetermined track. Something called retarders will slow the car down and it stops when it makes contact with cars already positioned on the track. Some of this may now be computerized. The sorting is based on outbound destinations. It is more efficient than having a switcher push individual cars into the outbound tracks. What is the purpose of a hump yard?
