Supposedly buying a car next week all being well, tyres better be good!

Meanwhile on a lovely sunny Sunday morning, I have just finished another structure for when I finally move house, bit smaller this time!

Yesterday's double birthday party went well. The last of the family who stayed over are going home this afternoon.

Let’s just say we were not the only 2 people that were shocked. I heard a few complaints. 1 lady Terry knew said she was going to check grocery store prices and maybe come back. Those prices were crazy. These are all locally grown produce. Our gas for traveling is decent at $3.19 per gallon. Our natural gas has not gone up yet and neither has electricity. I know wood for burning is still the same. That’s what these farmers use for back up heat for the greenhouses. Yep, these were the organic prices but they’ve always been organic at the stands Terry buys from. The pie guy is nuts in pricing too. I checked a different pie gal out last Wednesday at a farmers market and her prices are still reasonable. I checked online the websites when I was home Saturday afternoon. The Saturday guy was $5 per size higher than the Wednesday guy. It’s called gouging. I would loved to have purchased an apple pie Saturday but I’m not foolish. I’d loved to blame DC for this but that’s just ugly people trying to take advantage of a situation but being a free market they can. Terry said the only reason she purchased the spinach was the grocery store stuff looked dead in the produce case at the grocery on Thursday

54f and headed for 89 today, no dew on the lawn.

The grass is green and lush, but unless we get some rain it is gonna start turning brown.

I made 4 trees yesterday, trying to clean up the train shed of undone projects🤣🤣🤣

Time for some corn pops and coffee...

Good Morning All. Happy Mother's Day to all of the wives and girlfriends out there. Clear and 54°. No real change in the forecast except they have raised Wednesday's forecast high to 101° now. This could trigger an early demise for my cool-season crops in the garden.

Yesterday was almost entirely spent on the mower after doing laundry while the dew evaporated. I not only finished the east side that I started Friday, but got the south, southwest (over the septic system), north and backyards as well. Went through 3.5 gallons of gasoline in the process. But it is finally done after the over 10" of rain in the last two weeks. The part over the septic leach field was over 8" tall. Meanwhile the trees are going wild and will need some more cutting back, especially the ones that got their tops removed by last years tornado. Today though, is going to be weedeater day after church. I also have the pump ready for pumping the water off the swimming pool cover, for the second time!

Limited time out in the train shed yesterday due to other activities, not unusual for this time of year. I did a few more run-by trains after the incidents last week with the uncoupling and derailing. It must just have been a bad day that day, as I haven't had any further issues. But it is always pleasant to just run trains and railfan, at least to me. I did take some time to shop-vac near the door and workbench since I have managed to track in lots of grass clippings and other yard/garden debris in the last couple of weeks.

Troy - I am not a fan of shiny plastic or metal for that matter, so everything that goes on my layout gets a shot of dull coat first; structures, freight cars, figures, engines and vehicles. Maybe 20% of my freight cars have been weathered so far. I could keep Tom O busy for a couple of years. It would be cheaper to put them all in the car and drive them 1000 miles to him than to pay the postal charges.
Tom O - I have not noticed the Riverwalk in SA to be particularly dirty, at least the parts that I have been on, but it might be overrated overall. Parts have gotten unreasonably commercial and crowded. I am not a fan of outdoor patios at eating establishments with hundreds of tourists and revelers walking by less than 15' away!

I believe that all produce in stores or markets is already dead!:rolleyes:

As for tire mounting, nothing is more changeling then lawn mower tires. Off can be tough, breaking the bead I've used C clamps to squeeze the tire. Then when they get delivered to you flat and you have to use a ratchet strap to get the bead close to the rim so the air has a chance to expand the bead and seal it.

Heading out later to go have lunch with my mom and dad. Haven't seen them since before we left for Florida, so it
will be good to see them again.

Good morning Crew. 46f degrees at wake up at 5:45. 53 now heading to the low 80’s. Another chamber day in So Central Wisconsin. No rain predicted until Wednesday.

The grandson’s team playing a tournament in the Minneapolis area have won 3 games but didn’t qualify for the championship. There were 3 teams tied at 3 wins and no loses. The tournament rules said ties are broken by goal differential. So even though the grandsons team has scored the most in this tournament they also gave up the most! Texting with the grandson last night he said they knew the rules but most of his team don’t want to play defense. He said until a camp in late June he won’t be on skates till then.

I was going to take some trees with me to Maui but after checking shipping costs it’s not worth an additional expense. 250 trees to ship back home NOT including packaging is roughly $200. The golf clubs were sent out last week. Yes I am going to play some or at least try. I do miss it.

The son and girlfriend are back home in Wimberley, Texas. He purchased the property, he will build the new house but she is paying for the pool she always wanted but never had room for. She is paying for the main house renovation as her mom and sister will be moving from Tulsa to live there. I asked him before they left last week for Cancun what happens if it doesn’t work out. He said he’s got that covered. They are staying when at the ranch in 3 tiny houses he purchased that he will eventually use for guests or maybe even AirBnB rental. The property has the Blanco River running through it so it has a draw!

Today might just be a day to gather some sun on the south deck. I did walk at 6 this morning by myself away from the daily group. It was ok but I’m used to talking the last couple months so I forgot my iPod and headphones.

WILLIE, we stop in San Antonio everytime we are in Texas. 90 minutes from Austin and the son says 30 minutes from the new place in Wimberley. That’s why I was surprised by reports about the Riverwalk being dirty and overrated. We’ve never found it dirty. As to overrated, that’s so subjective. We go for the food, shopping and every third time or so a river ride. We have visited the missions and the Alamo (which is overrated). But overall we love San Antonio and its surrounds. It’s just too hot though like most of Texas is for us life long Midwesterns

Your right about some lawn mower tires being difficult!

I was fortunate that I was able to take them to work and a Cheetah to get the bead seated.
