One thing I was surprised to see is you could see all the layers of sediment - see pictures. Thought that would be cool to model either on a layout or a diorama. Cliff scene or something.

Yeh, it's cool when you see in a highway cutout or something (where they cut out through a spur or ridge) and you get to see the layers. With the red rocks and stuff here in Utah you see it and it's way cool. Lots of places in the Rockies where you see it because of the history of the mountains.

There is one place on US 6 on the way to Price Utah where the highway goes by a cut out place and you actually can see coal seams that are exposed...

Out exploring again today. Went to see the mammoth site. That was interesting. One thing I was surprised to see is you could see all the layers of sediment - see pictures. Thought that would be cool to model either on a layout or a diorama. Cliff scene or something.

It is currently 6:51pm, 78 degrees and 60% humidity in my room. Been raining all day so didn't get anything done. Can't 3d print since I need to vent the fumes out the window. So to drown my sorrows, having an adult beverage and watching my P-class (OO) and C30-7 (N) go around the room.

Feel my arteries hardening from that pic of the bacon egg muffin.

Where are the trains????
Good Morning, I bit chilly this morning in Hill City, SD 34f high about 54f leaving for home before the snow flies on Tuesday.

Anyway, trains? We were in Deadwood SD and went into a store and there was a small sign "trains" and you went downstairs. Course I had to see what was there. HO scale layout and a pretty good size one at that. Here are some pictures. May have to post a couple times or three to show all of it.

Here are the trains ;)

Gotta love trains especially model railroads. I'll stop at anything trains.

Have a lot more pictures of this layout but that's enough to give you an idea of how big it is. I talked to a gentleman that came downstairs and it's a club that meets about once or twice a month (small group) and he only does the electrical. He told me the layout is mostly DC with a two track main and it looked to me like a dog bone configuration. Took lots of pictures for future ideas.

Had a surprise at Walmart this afternoon. I usually stop at either our Kroger affiliate or Aldi's for bread. Our list was basically just bread and some other items they apparently no longer carry locally. Bread I prefer runs about $3.87 for a 24 ounce loaf. All Walmart had was a "tiny" loaf, 12 ounces, for $3.19. $6.38 for 24 ounces, not only shrinkflation, but higher price per ounce. Wife reminded me we knew stuff was going to get expensive. Bought something other than the one I prefer and have to go elsewhere for the other stuff.
Patrick: Maybe not your type of bread ... We found loaves of bread at WallMart @ $0.99 each. Full sized ( what ever that is ) and already sliced. Of the two types, one looks like a French Loaf, the other your regular Wonder Bread type loaf although not quite as tall. We get 6 to 10 of them for the freezer. With the French type, you can put 8 slices in a 4 slice toaster; standing on end. Also great for that 1/2 sandwich snack if you only use 2.

I used to get the Great Value round top bread. It was $.97, and for the price, it wasn't bad. Then, they raised the price to $1.47, and I decided I'd spend the extra $.40 and get Wonder bread. The Great Value bread was a lot drier, and I'd have to add "something" to a sandwich to keep it from crumbling to dust. While I'm not entirely thrilled with the Wonder because it has more sugar, in the end it is better, because I don't have to add more mayo or peanut butter/jelly to make it usable.

Looks like a great area to visit!

The mine in the last photo is a really cool idea!

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with sliced bread. It's Troy again.

Prepping for Gettyburg drive. 10 hours in the car with the wife. She requested podcasts or audio books about what we're going to see.

<Snicker>

There are several podcasts, and I've got at least one audiobook on the topic.

We'll be there Sun evening through Wed. Drive back on Thursday. Right now, only one day is forecast for rain. Wife wants to hit a state park for some hiking along the way. I'm going to try to get her to do that on Friday after we're back. There's an Indiana State Park (chain o lakes) with lots of hiking about a 30 min drive from us.

As for today. It's clean the car out, wash the windows, vacuum, etc. All the pre-trip stuff.

Good morning from an overcast and cooler So. Central Wisconsin. 50f degrees since 2am, very windy with gusts hitting 40mph and we may not hit 60 today. Very different than the last 10 days.

The grandson plays at 9am at the team’s home complex that usually is a 10 minute drive but the bridge is out over State Highway 151 so it’s a good 25 minute drive. The local 1/2 mile away Madison, Wi. soccer complex of 3 turf fields, 1 stadium turf field and 24 grass fields has been busy since about noon yesterday. The commercials for the tournament during the NHL hockey games for the tournament have been annoying. They are having their massive annual tournament that says it’s the 29th year. All the hotels around here for 30 miles are full, (per local newspaper) the area restaurants were impossible to get into yesterday and should be harder today. We were aware and planned accordingly

Good for the Maple Leafs last night. It’s why they play the games on the ice not on paper. How can a team play so well 2 nights after playing one of the worst playoff games I have ever seen. Sunday night in Toronto game 7 should hopefully be a game for the ages.

I know the grandson has 2 games today but I’m not asking again what time game 2 is. Someone will ask me if I’m ready to go.

I have no real plans for the train room today but I should do some work on some structures for a couple friends layouts. I have boxes packaged and labeled for shipment while we are gone.

I stopped yesterday at the 2 houses I am playing project manager for. 1st the daughter and SIL’s place is way ahead of schedule. The dry wall was delivered yesterday about a month ahead of schedule. The friend’s place had the foundation framework installed yesterday with the plan to pour concrete this morning. While we’ve had some nasty weather around us, the 2 projects have been weather free. I hope that continues as the pool guy is going to be working at both places this coming week.

Enjoy your day
