As you can tell by the photo, I just took across the street from St James church. I live in a patriotic town. 60 miles south of here not so much.
You can see Lake Gleneida a New York City reservoir in the background. I'm not sure if New York city owns the land the flags are on or not?

Willie is very lucky -- I was sorry to hear of the damage and loss of life.
I'm still "vertical" - thanks for all the well wishes.
I just figured that everyone was tired of hearing of my medical issues (which are still with me.)
Seem to put out one fire only to have another pop up!

No Chemo now for four weeks due to the fact that I keep injuring myself; last Tuesday they canceled because now my Creatinine "spiked" way high .... so there's that now. Hopefully it will be down within range this coming week.

At least the weather has been absolutely C of C days!
Good to see you back in the coffee shop!

Now where is Karl?

Never tired of hearing from you

Willie - So glad to hear from you. From your post, you are extremely lucky. There have been too many news reports of farms, bbuildings and entire town and cities completely leveled.

Hope you and your neighbors get power back and get what repairs have to be done finished quickly.

At least you'll have cold beer.
You and your wife take care.

Joe- I get it. First, it's the horde of vacationers followed by the snowbirds and their we don't do it that way in _________. (Fill in the NE state)
I definitely believe that... I rode down on an Auto Train with a whole trainload of them...Didn't dare mention that I was riding free with a sleeper upgrade. They were all descending in your direction, we were going to NAS Pensacola.

The BENNYs wear out their welcome quickly. By mid August billboards appear that say"BENNYs GO HOME!

No one is tired of hearing from you. We worry when we don't hear from you... Your fight is our fight. Enjoy the weather, take care and stay in touch.

After some calculations, I found that the generator can support the freezer, refrigerator, a fan, and fiber-optic/wifi/computer on it's measly 13.5 amps; so here I am using the "normal" keyboard instead of the damn phone.
To summarize: we were in the middle of a tornado path that stretched for 100 miles last night. In our small enclave of 8 residences, 2 escaped unscathed, the other six had moderate to severe damage. One of those two was ours. I have always remarked that we would be safe in a tornado since we had the only traditionally constructed home; all of the others are single or double wide manufactured housing units. The other house that escaped damage was less than 120' from the one that suffered the most.

The third home on that property had some roof damage.
IMG_0215.JPG

Contractors were out repairing that this afternoon.
My damage was mainly trees, but this is what I saw upon walking out the back door this morning.

I'm uncertain one should "like" your post Willie but thank you. We still don't know the status of the layout but perhaps that is a very minor consideration here.

The train shed lost it's metal roof and a few pieces of plywood underlayer, but all were over the tool storage side and not over the train room; so no damage there.
IMG_0204.JPG

My daughter, SIL and one grandson came by this afternoon and tarped it.
IMG_0228.JPG

There were many trees blocking the road, but the county road crew was out in front of my house at 0400 clearing them away.
Downed power lines were everywhere. but the power company was out early marking them, but not fixing them.

IMG_0214.JPG

My trash dumpster was on it's side 150' from it's normal location. Fortunately it was just emptied so there is no mess from that.
IMG_0210.JPG

Some of my roof along the side of the road, most of the rest was scattered about in the field across the road.
IMG_0212.JPG

Neighbors barn lost it's center section and roof.
IMG_0222.JPG

A couple of other homes.

And a large tree.

Thankfully no one was hurt in our enclave, but there was a loss of life 4 miles east documented in posts by others.
There's been no report yet of the storm's strength, but as I posted earlier, it went almost 100 miles. Not as deadly as some of the recent storms in the Midwest because it traveled over mostly rural land.
That's it for now and I appreciate all of the well wishes. Like someone posted, I have firewood for a couple of years now.

Willie - That tornado action in your property area made the local news all the way up here in Alberta. I was looking for you in the news video. So sad there were fatalities.
Did those longhorns make it through?
Anyway, I'm glad you and your people are ok. Looks like lots of clean-up work in the immediate future , though. Thanks for posting those update photos.

Well howdy there internet peeps.

I'm alive. Still dealing with mom issues. Tomorrow is the day Sis #1 and I go in to take care of the finances and paperwork.

The Libertarian convention was this weekend. Polytics, but worth goggling the news vids from. That was my former group. Even found one of my old business cards in at Mom's place. Can't say more due to edicts about PolyTics. PM me if you like to discuss that group.

Rain has moved in for the next day or two. Just kind of dark and dreary continuation. Feeling a bit down between Mom's issues and the weather. So, I thought I'd go find a happy memory.

Here's a pic from last summer when we took a ride on the local "Ice Cream" train. The local historical railroad preservation group set their fleet of restored passenger cars free for summer. Each weekend had a different theme for rides to nowhere. We, of course, went on Ice cream weekend. Both the dessert and the train were fun experiences. The ice cream was yummy!

Not sure about the train, since I didn't try to taste it.

That's it for now. I'll check back in later.

The Bemont Stakes next Saturday will be run at Saratoga this year. Some of my golf friends are making it a 3-day Golf / Track mini vacation.
I'm not going. If you ever been there in an event like this, you're not getting out of the track for hours. To many people in your way whether it's buying a hotdog or making a bet. I'm sitting this one out.
