Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who enjoy both Alice Cooper and Bob Dylan

On the later, I agree with Willie. Dylan's voice wasn't good. I sound like an off-key version of him. And that isn't saying much. Love his tunes when someone else does the vocals.

As for Mr. Cooper, his Alice Cooper Goes to Hell is probably my favorite. Nice concept album. I'll listen to it, and Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell about once a year.

Just coffee this morning, Flo. Already did my yoga. Just waiting for the sun to come up so I can get my morning walk in. Then it off to see Mom.
She wants a pecan roll. So, drat! we'll have to stop at the donut shop on our way.

Today is the beginning of cleaning out her apartment. Sis #2 is coming in with her boyfriend's truck to move Mom's recliner over to the nursing home. I'll stop at WalMart to get a wall-mount bracket for her TV. Otherwise, it's about packing up her knick-nacks and kitchen stuff. Finding her papers and bills etc.

Sis #1 is down in Kentucky at her hubby's family reunion. She'll be back by Tues when move moves from Rehab to the new room. Our goal is to get Mom's apartment cleaned by the end of the month and turn the keys in on the 31st, so there is no more billing from it.

My job is to get her stuff wrapped up as much as we can.

I'll check in here from time to time. But don't expect many updates.

Good crystal clear morning from the semi frozen tundra of So. Central Wisconsin. The overnight low temperature was 40 but it will climb into the 70’s. Dry and calm for the next few days. The rains ended yesterday about 7pm with another really nice gusher of a downfall. We had after 1 yesterday a few downpours with a total accumulation in the old manual read beaker glass of 6.75” of rain since 6am yesterday to 6:30am a few minutes ago. I have not checked what the computer says we received.

I called 4 window companies yesterday to replace all the windows in this house. One of the windows yesterday lost its cladding on the sill and it’s replacement time. I called our contractor and he said he can’t compete with the replacement window companies. This house was built in 2007 and I never liked these windows or the company that made them, Kolbe and Kolbe out of Wausau, Wi. 2 of the companies are coming out today. Another on Tuesday and the last on Wednesday. Having spent time in the window business I think I will be enjoying this.

Between the sales people today I have a weathering project I started on Thursday afternoon. One of the cars yesterday I plain old disliked my efforts and stripped it down after the hockey game last night, another OT game. I will start over on that one and continue the other 3.

My golf partner has invited me and the SIL over for some grilling this evening. But, in the afternoon he wants help laying out a new outdoor kitchen in the place they are moving to sometime this Summer. He loved my last outdoor kitchen and had asked me who the designer was. When I said, ME, he chuckled said he should have known. So that’s the afternoon after the window sales guy leaves.

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All!

49F @ 79% with rain. Been raining for the last few days in the am.

So my wife was screaming at me 'You have not listened to a single word I have said have you?' - Strange way to start a conversation isn't it?

We looked at and tested a zero turn a couple of years ago on our property. Not good as there are too many spots that are not flat or have land mines. It was fun on the flat straight runs and would really scoot. Then we found out the price. Got a 42" lawn tractor, 24" powered push mower and a weed wacker for less than the ZTM and had money left over for lunch and dinner out for a few days. We did end up buying a new weed wacker the other day as the Stihl came up missing and is not to be found. Ryobi 40V Lithium which is scary, although it does run for a little over an hour which is more weed wack'n than we want to do at one stretch. Need that nap while the battery is charging.

I always vote for policy. I don't care what they look like, sound like or if even they whine; as long as the policy gets done, I'm good to go. Why would some folks vote any other way, I mean .. this isn't high school?

Whew, almost political - that's all folks!

Later

Good morning all!

I take coffee straight out of the pot. Didn't sleep well last night. Don't know what that was about. Normally I'm asleep 10 minutes after hitting the pillow.

Going to take a while this morning to get going, lots to do today.

Have a great Saturday all!

Good Morning All. Happy Memorial Day weekend to all in the US. Light fog and 68°. The ever-changing forecast now calls for continued cloudiness with a 50% chance of thunderstorms around mid-afternoon. A front moved through yesterday around 5 pm and drenched Oklahoma about 25 miles north, and everything from 10 miles south all of the way south of the DFW area; but it didn't rain here. Lots of thunder and strong winds from the outflow, and much cooler temperatures overnight and this morning. Low-90's today, near 100° tomorrow and thunderstorms from Tuesday through next Sunday. And so it goes!

Yesterday started with household tasks including laundry. I then got out my trusty spray can of silicon and sprayed the tracks on all of my windows. First time since they were installed 14 years ago. Most now raise with a single finger once you get past the initial "breakaway" state. That's by design in the windows that our company made. Then on to the garden where I scoured the Onion rows for any remaining ones that I missed and generally cleared out leftover weeds. If I ever get a dry spell, I can till it up and start adding compost and organic matter for the next crop.
I spent almost an hour on the phone with the mail-order pharmacy yesterday trying to both understand and correct a problem. They used to use the phone to send reminders and requests for refills, even though it was all computer generated. But it worked and I could understand them. Then this year, they switched to all electronic and things have generally went haywire for me. Being hearing impaired didn't help when I was speaking with a definite off-shore lady who had a low voice volume. I did get it resolved eventually.

Today's agenda seems to be wide open. I'm sure that there is a honey do list lurking but maybe I'll get outside and find other stuff to do.

No time out in the train shed yesterday, too engrossed in the yard and garden. Gotta take advantage of these infrequent dry periods.
So, something from the archives again.
From the train show last January. A large G scale layout in the exhibition hall.

Terry - Another vote here for garden tractors with hydro-drive. I do have a 48" deck, but that's a reduction from my previous one of 54".
Grizzled - Sorry to read about your wife's fall. Prayers and best wishes for her.
Curt - Depending on the year, the various wildflowers last between 14 and 25 days. It's also dependent on how many generations sprout.
Troy - Good luck with Mom.

Everyone have a great day.

Scammers - It is annoying that telephone companies allow them to set up. Make their 'kill'. Close down without paying the telephone company for use of telephones. Then re start with new numbers from the same telephone company. Here in the U.K. a lot of scammers are in Africa.
David - We get scam calls and I call the phone numbers back immediately and get the recording "you have reached a disconnected number". How can someone call me from a disconnected number? Seems to me the phone company must know and does not care about this

Willie - By you location description, it sounds like you live in the panhandle area of Texas. I have/had a slew of relatives in the Dalhart area. My parents and I would ride on my dad's pass to Dalhart for the XIT rodeo and parade (Aug 1st). Great fun, even had a parade that seemed like the entire town was in it. XIT was the largest ranch in the world at one time, don't know about now

The biggest concern when I was in elementary school outside of Detroit in the 1950s was tornados.
We did the occasional tornado drill or the fire drill, but now, people want to impose their ideology society and use the schools as their platform.
Our concern in the early fifties in SoCal was "The Bomb". Crawl under you desk and cover your head. Then we had some kind of drills that we were required to leave the class room and go outside in the hall and sit down by the wall. Fire drills were a monthly thing also were we all went out in either the front grass or playground area, depending on where we were. We use to joke about all the smoke coming out of the teachers' lounge causing the fire drills
