Well, last night and today have been spent dealing with a scam that Dad fell for although there were so many red flags. He spent several hours yesterday trying to find a WU to send the ahole from Ecuador $$$ and finally found one and sent the money. The ahole also got remote access to Dad's computer. Well after contacting WU we found out that the money had not been picked up yet, so we were able to reverse it. That necessitated several in person stops to get the cash back from WU. After that I had to take Dad's computer to the shop. After all of that including the local police coming to take a report MOH and I didn't even get a simple thank you for jumping through all the hoops for him.
Thankfully you were in time to get the money back, most are not!

Scammers are the scum of the earth and should be dealt with by (fill in the rest of the sentence) to make an example!

Thanks for all the well-wishes for Mom.

Sis #1 was able to take her down to see her new room today. It's a double occupancy, but that hall is lightly populated for now. Which means no immediate roomie. Mom was miffed she never got to go to college. Now she does. Dorm life with a shared bathroom (with the next room only).

Other good news is she gets the window bed.

She will have room for her recliner and not much else from her current apartment. But, she shouldn't be cooking. She's on Oxygen all the time now.

Funny story (and serious) but funny about my Dad's mother. My parents divorced in 1985. About 12 years later, my father died of a massive heart attack. And my mother wound up being chief family contact with her former Mother-in-law. My grandmother was always a character, and very stern. WWII generation, and you did things right the first time with her. Or you did them again and again.

But she was still a caring person. Mom liked her, and was glad that she was still treated as a daughter despite my parents' divorce. So mom had been watching dementia slowly sink into Grandmother. (Gramps was passed for about 15 years at this point). The last straw before mom exercised her Medical Power of Attorney on Grams, and called the doctor to get orders for a nursing home occurred when Grams called mom, complaining that something was beeping.

"Mom, that's your smoke detector," my mother told her. "Is your house on fire?"

"It's kind of smoky in here," Grams told her.

"Do you have anything on the stove?"

"No... oh, wait I put in roast in..."

"Well, grab some hot pads and take it out. Turn the oven off. I'll be right over. And open your windows. I'll be right over."

Twenty minutes later mom is beating on Grams' door. Who should answer, but Grams. Butt Nekkid. All the way. In her birthday suit.

"Mom, where are your clothes?"

"Oh I was napping before that beeping started. It wouldn't stop."

"Go put clothes on Mom..." She pushed Grams toward the bedroom and spied the oven still smoking. After opening the door she yelled at my grandmother:

"Mom, when did you put this roast in?"

"I dunno? Yesterday maybe? I had a burger for dinner last night. It sounded better than the roast."

"Well, you should have turned the oven off." Mom grabbed oven mitts, pulled the charred carcass outside and let it finish smouldering there.

Two weeks later she had Grams in a nursing home, with a diagnosis of late onset Alzheimers.

Fortunately, my mother hasn't tried to burn her apartment down, nor gone streaking through the hallways. We still laugh about nekkid grandma and her VERY WELL DONE chuck roast.

Looks like your mom has room for a small-ish tv, as well. If she wants one. If she does, make sure you put her info on the back of it, so one of the other residents doesn't help it walk away. And they will, though it's usually because they think it's theirs. Also, mark her clothes, so she gets them back from the laundry.

Here's a soothing post for this evening. If you're a regular here in the Coffee Shop, you know that I have been lamenting all of the rain that I have received in the past 30 days. Also many of you who have been frequenting this place for a few years might remember that I do let a part of my land grow wildflowers every year. Well, the rain has been such that we have not been able to mow my hayfield in advance of planting this year, and the wildflowers took over a major portion of it.
One in particular has really proliferated this spring, one known as a Cornflower. I have at least 9 acres of this wildflower right now.

Interspersed with them is a purplish one that I have never been able to identify, so maybe it's just a weed.

Then of course there are the Indian Blankets, not Indian Paintbrushes which have already come and gone. Here they are fending off the Cornflowers.

The Bluebonnets are already gone as well, as they are earlier in the season like the Paintbrushes.
I have a few others in the area around my pond that I haven't gotten to yet, I'll get pictures later this month.
I hope that you enjoy these pictures that Mother Nature has provided me.

TV is already planned for. We're just debating between wall mount or brining a small table in. My guess is wall mount.

And, yep, we're aware of the name on back. I'm taking white paint pens and black sharpies.
I'd suggest wall-mount, if the facility will allow it. Less chance of it getting knocked off a table and smashed.
This is the Voice of Experience here...

They remind me of Black-eyed Susans.

Oh how I love Mother Nature showing her best.
Such gorgeous flowers. An array of colours
Then look at the '50 shades of green'. The different shapes and sizes.
Seeing what you see and not what you thought you saw.
Nothing 'perfect' yet a perfect scene.

Thanks for posting

Well, howdy there internet people.

A friendly reminder (not that you all needs it, but non-Americans might), this is our Memorial Day weekend (the day is actually Monday). That is the day we honour those who wore the uniform of our country, all branches of the military, who died while wearing the uniform.

Unfortunately, the day coincides on the calendar with the kickoff to summer. Down in Indianapolis, where I spent 20 years living, they have people fly in from all over the world to watch it rain on the 2.5 mile oval piece of asphalt known as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Evidently the race around making left turns, in between the raindrops. ;)

Back to reality. In our neck of the woods, likes like rainy weekend. But today is a good day for patio sitting:

The fore-guessing for Race Day looks much the same (Indianapolis is 2 hours south of where I am). If there are any race fans on here, you might see the race cut short, but it looks favourable for some left-turning on that oval.

As for me, after the flurry of phone calling and organizing getting Sis #2 and her boyfriend to come over Saturday and help clean out Mom's apartment, and move her recliner over.

I did manage to finish the gaming shelves:

Here's what on them, for now... Dwarves on the top, Night Stalkers on the middle, and Goblins and Orcs on the lower.

To answer your unspoken question, yes, I do have enough painted minis to fill the shelves. But most of the WW2 are going to stay in their travel cases

Good morning all. A coffee please, Flo.
Up early this morning to go and have a chest x-ray. It only took less than 10 minutes. Results in two weeks?
The journey to the hospital wasn't too bad, but the return journey was horrendous. The last two miles took 45 minutes because of road works. Those road works have been going on for the past eleven years. Yes eleven years on the same stretch of road. Still another year to go until completion.

Not listening to politicians on the forthcoming election. All parties promising the earth and knowing they cannot do so. The same with the media; twisting stories to suit.

We will vote though. Not saying who for.
