Good Morning All. Cloudy and 71° with a possibility of rain this evening. Don't want it, don't need it, can't do anything about it! Heavy thunderstorm about noon yesterday left me 1.25" in the rain gauge; another round about 7:00 pm left an additional 0.5". So the cycle starts anew.

However it never got above 84° and we're looking at the same today.
Fortunately before the rain started, I got a few things accomplished outdoors. Mainly I reinstalled the window A/C in the bedroom which I take out for the winter. I also gathered up all of the onions drying in the garden and moved them under cover. I still have about a third of the harvest that isn't quite ready yet, but it will be Saturday before I can pick again.
A side note to the electric company and their wifi system for reading the meters now. In the next year, I am going to partially enclose my back porch and I do not have to be concerned with the guy having to read the meter after I enclose it.
Today is the usual weekly grocery trek, Ace Hardware and the Rx are already on the list. I think that my wife mentioned the Post Office as well.
Time out in the train shed yesterday was short again, so I just ran trains. I did look around for my next project as this current one is nearly as complete as I intend for now.

John - I have a lot of thoughts regarding these teens and others making $20/hr in fast food establishments. But some I can't express here because of the politics tag. Bit there are several things going wrong here. First, it's more than just teens doing those jobs and politicians/activists are clamoring for a "living wage". Back in our working days, those jobs were considered "entry level jobs", not meant for folks to support a family. That changed somewhere along the way in the last 20 years or so. Secondly, runaway inflation caused by reckless and thoughtless government policies have made everything cost much more. My Social Security COLA has not kept up, thankfully I am not dependent on that to live. Thirdly, I think that "entitlement" also plays into the equation. It's an attitude hoisted upon us by some of the same politicians.
I won't even get into your other subject of cell phones. While we both have one, we rely on our land line more, especially for important stuff. It never fails!
Jay - Glad that we can help you get to know our American life.
Swal - The place that I go to for MRI's has headphones to deaden the sound, but they also can pump music through them. I bring my own Pink Floyd CD with me.
Tom O - Sorry to read of your damages, but at least no one was hurt. Seems like you have it all under control from here.
Mac - I didn't really see any bystanders offering to help except the women throwing water.
I am very sympathetic to those who are dealing with older relatives in their twilight years. I cannot offer any advice or experiences, as both of my parents passed away at home; my youngest brother was watching after them. Both of my in-laws passed within 3 days of being admitted to a hospital, from their home. I did have a brother-in-law who lived in an assisted living center for about a year and had nothing but good things to say about his time there, but I can only rely on what he said. Your experiences are enlightening and informative.
Everyone have a great day
