On the topic of grilling. Yesterday's hamburgers and hotdogs were fantastic! For me it's food perfection, better than any restaurant.

I forgot to mention hotdogs yesterday. If I light the weber grill you can bet your bottom dollar, I will be making hotdogs! I love hotdogs cooked with indirect heat on a weber charcoal grill. For me those hotdogs are finger food, no roll needed. I like them perfectly cooked, no black spots! My Mom on the other hand liked them with a little black on them.

The hotdogs were some private label chicken and pork hotdog from Aldi. They were great and at 99 cents for 12oz, a fair deal too! Ever since Esskay was bought out I'm always on the lookout for another brand of hotdogs. So far Oscar Mayer is still my favorite.

Did I ever mention I love hotdogs? ;)

Sometimes I wonder what percentage of the calories I have consumed over my life has been from hotdogs. 20%-50% I'm sure.

Grilling burgers, my preference is an 80\20 mix. Flares up and smokes less than 73\27. Although I have been buying 85\15 as late due to it being cheaper at the local meat market. IMO anything leaner than 80\20 tends to be drier.
Patrick, you are right about flare-ups! I use the lid to control flare-ups. It is more work, but you can't walk away from the grill when making burgers. I pull a chair close and do my thing.

That is surprising that the 85/15 was cheaper. They must have had excess inventory. I would have bought it as well. Cheaper is often better in my book!

I picked up the 73/27 mix this week at Aldi. It was $1.99/lb. I bought 30 pounds!

Good morning, Everybody!

I have said this before, but I will say it again for the newer members.

Did you ever wonder why I capitalize the word Everybody? Because you are all capital People!

I don't care much about breaking laws of the English language. Note my many run-on sentences. If I make myself clear, it is all good in my book!

Speaking of laws, I'm reminded of my youth again.

This song is past my youth, but it speaks to me! And it fits this post.
"Since I was born, they couldn't hold me down
Another misfit kid, another burned out town
I never played by the rules, I never really cared
My nasty reputation takes me everywhere"

Good Morning All. Clear and 64° on the old homestead. Continued fair weather for our area for a few more days, mid-60's at night to mid-80's in the afternoon. Isolated thundershowers are forecast for many of the days. That's meant to cover their ass in case it actually happens.

Headed out this afternoon for our grandsons' birthday dinner and celebration, the youngest birthday was yesterday and the oldest is today. Going to their favorite Italian restaurant where we always seem to go. It was also the favorite of a late friend of ours and we went there on her birthday as well. As it is the case with almost all Italian restaurants around here, it is BYOB. At least it's cheaper that way.

Settling into the summer routine, mowed the east side yesterday and then trimmed up the rest of the downed tree from last weekend. Used the weedeater around the pool and nearby vicinity. This morning before Mass, it's empty the dishwasher, thenafterwards mow the south side before leaving this afternoon.

Did some work out in the train shed yesterday on the newest project spot. Nothing significant and I left the camera out there and don't feel like trekking that far yet. My wife has some stuff that she needs me to do before church.
Here are a few updated mini-scenes that I took last week.

Troy - I am in the fat cap up camp when it comes to brisket. I am able however to keep the temperature in my Grillmaster lower at around 225°.
Chad - Thanks for your answer, I had forgotten about the government borrowing from the trust fund to cover their foolishness.

Today happens to be National Brisket Day, appropriately enough since we've been discussing it.

Everybody have a great day.

Good morning. My online pharmacy notified me this morning one of my prescriptions is due for a refill, and my insurance doesn't cover it. So, I went digging around my insurance plan. I found it only covers prescriptions at one pharmacy---CVS---. And my copay for the prescription: $30. AFTER a $2k deductible. My online pharmacy charges me $6 without insurance.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 65F and low humidity which felt great. After a couple of chores, I started working on trees. I planted 40 trees today and have the last 13 ready for foliage. I have made around 400 trees at this point. I have 20 in the garage ready for planting tomorrow plus the 13 I'll finish tomorrow. Thursday son and I have 6 4x4's to dig out of the ground before a tree is removed on the 5th.

Chad- That is significant progress.

Joe- Nice looking steamer.

Louis- For years I disliked Corned Beef but for some reason now I like it.🤷‍♂️

Willie- Nice detailing.

Terry- I swear that if you didn't have bad luck you would have no luck at all.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I heard that United Healthcare had an ownership interest in CVS.

Good evening, All! THe weather here has been pretty nice for the last few days. Low humidity being the key, with temps just below 90. Rain is forecasted for Tue. but after that some more nice weather.

Earlier this week I had a Dr. appointment and labs. Results were posted yesterday, and it appears I will remain off of metformin again. That make nearly 3 years now that I have been off metformin, and I have kept my diabetes in check. I remain on a low carb, and sugar free diet.

In the train room, I ran switching operations. My system, I have 12 index cards with 12 freight cars. Each car has 6 industries assigned. I roll a die, and then move cars to the corresponding industry. Example, roll a 3, all the cars are moved the number 3 industry on their card. I must work around trains running on the main.

STAY SAFE
LATER
