Good Morning All. Happy Memorial Day. Cloudy and 74°, still have those high winds from the south in excess of 20 mph all day, until Wednesday. Rain maybe Thursday.
Well surprise yesterday. The pool temperature rose to 82° and enabled me to get in again after a week, late in the afternoon. We should be good to go for the next 4 months now. It felt good after a session of mowing. Today's mowing target is the SW corner over the septic tank and lateral lines, always a tough area. First I have to pick up some dead tree branches that Mother Nature has given me with the winds. I should be picking some broccoli this morning from the garden, maybe green beans as well. About half of the onions have matured but I'll get them later today or tomorrow.
Thanks to all who commented on or liked my various posts over the last few days. I haven't had the time to thank each of you individually, but you know who you are. It's one of those things that makes this Coffee Shop special.
Yesterday was a bust out in the train shed. Too little time to get involved with anything really. I cleared up the figure painting stuff in preparation for the flatcar load but I was not inspired to start that project yet. Workbench is just a bit too small for multiple projects.
Let's go to the archives for a couple of pictures today. Mick's Food Market is a cardstock structure that I downloaded. I think that it was a free download from Modelbuildings.org.
I enhanced this basic structure with window trim for a more 3D effect, and porch roof supports made from different Evergreen Styrene shapes. I also added a concrete porch and figures to go with it.
It shows what can be done with simple structures.
Dave - I agree with the no streetlights. Of course there are none out here in the boonies except an occasional security light. I have noticed that along the rebuilt Interstates and other newer highways, they install lots of them, but never replace the burned out bulbs! They also seem to be the newfangled kind that don't shine upwards.
Joe - Unusual for me, but I watched some of the Rangers/Hurricanes game Saturday night. Bored at the grandson's birthday party. I thought that it was really a good game that NY certainly had control of, at least the parts that I saw.
Louis - Get well soon.
Guy - Here's how I fix those annoying gaps. I use a piece of square styrene stock to fit into the gap with Super Glue, then file or carve it to look like rail.
This one hasn't been painted yet, but once you paint the rail it blends in. That is if you paint your rail which I do. Smaller than this one don't usually get filled. Alternately I have seen where people fill the gap with solder and file it to shape, but that seems harder to control and disguise.
Hughie - Stairs and windows are some of the pitfalls of N scale. Structure is looking good though.
As someone pointed out yesterday, today is to honor the war heroes that didn't come home. Not veterans or first responders
So everyone have a great day, the unofficial start of summer.
