Hello Internet users and followers of the medical miracles of our age.

The doctor stopped by the bed around 2 hours ago. Said if I feel up to it and the Hospitalist agrees I can go home tonight. The Hospitalist is already 30 minutes past due. He also said he’ll get brownie points from the Insurance company. I think he was kidding.

45 minutes under the knife and Doc says he removed 9 lymph nodes and pathology has them. Might know tomorrow but for sure on Monday. Was only in recovery for 2 hours and they moved me to a room. Around noon got my thyroid replacement meds to take. Also, soup for lunch and an insulin follow up. No gliperzide or Metformin for my diabetes while in the hospital. Feel good now but starting to wear down again. Nurse just came in and said she ordered me dinner since the Hospitalist is a no show so far. Terry just left to grab something to eat.

here is the story of my life lately

Tom O- Glad to hear that your procedure went well. It’s been my experience that they prefer insulin over diabetes meds in the hospital. I think it’s easier for them to monitor your BS that way. BTW, don’t get me started on hospitalists. They’ve been 1/2 my issues that I’ve had getting discharged during prior stays at the local “resort hotels”. Like telling me I’m being discharged at 10 am & not lifting the NPO order under near 1 pm.
Hi all,

Survived. Doc did a nice clean-up, no repair. up and about on crutches, today and tomorrow mostly just for stability. Starting in-home PT exercises. Strangely, they really took it out of me. Wife making me homemade chocolate malts for recovery food - - - I might never get better ;) No train work eyt - maybe tomorrow I can get down and run trains. Peaceful, especially the ones sans sound.

Had a dream? Delusion? Inspiration? Anyway - thinking about trains.

Bye all, Steve J

Steve- Glad to hear that your doc was c able to just go in & do a clean up, rather than a repair. Knee issues are no joke, especially as we age.
Todd(Libby)- I didn’t have to endure the radiation, but I did have prostate biopsies in my late 30’s, because my PSA readings were 6 & 9(2 years apart). Nothing like the feeling of a staple gun down in ManLand, as the doc is telling you to relax. Easier says than done.
Jaz(UK)- Nice greenhouses/poly tunnels. My cousin has a farm in the “Eastern Panhandle” of WV. He has a bunch of greenhouses that he uses to grow tomato plants from seeds & then when they’re ready to transplant, he loads them up by the truckload & transports them to his Dad’s(Mom’s brother) farm in the heart of South Jersey tomato country. His daughters also grow microgreens in the greenhouses that they sell at the local farmers market. Farmers up in this part of Wisconsin(North Central) are starting to plant cool weather crops like potatoes & other root veg, that can survive a late frost. Above ground crops like corn, tomatoes, beans & squash family, we don’t usually plant until after Memorial Day. Hence the saying about corn in WI “knee high by the 4th of July”.

Good morning, internet peeps

It's Troy again.

First, the new neighbors have been busy.

We're on the road today. Got to go 2.5 hours down the road, see some friends and the daughter unit (and boyfriend... still no word on him becoming a fiance).

Wife got a mess of kitchen stuff from MIL's auction, so part of the trip is to dump some of that on the daughter.

I have no idea what Mr and Mrs Mourning Dove are doing. Probably just homebodies.

Another early morning for me! 55f looking for a pleasant 78f later today with partly cloudy - sure wish they would mix in some rain!

pretty decent night's sleep. The heart behaved its self - a real plus!
I made a mistake yesterday - my planned "shocking" is for Wednesday rather than Tuesday. The Spousal Unit will (should) be back under the roof here tomorrow.
I am hoping that her sister, Irene, is a negative tomorrow as well?

Good morning gang from central monsoon land!!

Its been raining for over 24 hours now, and it is not supposed to quit until tomorrow afternoon. My side yard looks like a rice patty. Sitting here at my desk at work, watching the passing cars , I don't expect much action in the shop today, this kind of weather discourages walk in business.

6 hours of boredom, punctuated by a few moments of panic begins now. Oh how I love Saturdays! (sarcasm reigns supreme)

Good Morning,

Well the AC is out still. Parts were needed that weren't available last night. The cost estimate is $3500. We have had this AC company for 15 years (installed this AC) with 2 times a year servicing.

The repairman said if their guy had opened up the air handler 2 days ago (routine servicing) he would of seen the issue before it caused the damage. Called to talk to the company manager but he's supposed to call us today.

More to follow.

Good Morning from a place that is 39F, and the cooling fan is not going to turn off anytime soon.

Curt - your in luck! We have a guest room. You can come visit up north until the A/C is repaired. We only have two temperatures here, cool and cold. No need to worry about a/c here.

I'm working on a project, so no photos today. I'll be around more when the work is done.
Have a good one!

Good morning all! 53 and sunny on the way to 67 and sunny. So nice to see the sun again after it being behind rain clouds the last few days.

Had another busy day at work yesterday. Just can't get over how happy I am there. Everyone is so nice and there's always something to do. Trying to get things ready for graduation now. We did a test run of our streaming equipment at another event back on Monday that didn't go well. Hoping we get the kinks worked out before Friday/Graduation day.

Going to get my new glasses this morning and not a moment too soon. I can tell my eyes have changed and the new glasses will hopefully cover the change. My eyes are still watering a lot too, so that doesn't help my vision either.

Hope you all have a great day!

A/C servicing puts the typical homeowner at the mercy of the service guy.
I had my heat pump system checked about a year ago. The guy said it was shot. 10-year-old system. New one would be around $15K.
I didn't think he was right, so I had two more companies do a check. Both said it was fine and just needed a squirt of juice.
Basically, what the customer doesn't understand, some companies will take advantage of.

Good morning Shop Dwellers from sopping-wet central Maryland, haven't seen this much continuous rain around here in years; seems like the low pressure system has parked somewhere over West Virginia and will keep dumping rain on us for the foreseeable future. Soooo glad I was able to mow my lawn on Thursday evening!

. . .
Ken- I looked at the LRT website (I haven't been on it in years). It appears that all their boards are now single signal head. The side that the signal LED's wire into only has 1 set of connections. My older boards have 2 sets on each. I figure you would have to drop around $300-400 once you get the sensors, power supplies and power convertor they have.

On a different note, when I went to use the TT today it would only move for a second before stopping🤬. I cleaned the contacts and the contact pad then it started working properly but now it was catching on one of the approach track rails. First time for this-WTH? I filed the rail and tested it and it was fine.
. . .
Curt, thanks for looking; but with those numbers and other more urgent mrr spending priorities, it looks like I may have put the signal automation idea on indefinite hold [LOL]! Bummer about the AC, appears like the annual service tech screwed up big-time - hopefully the company will take "ownership" of their mistake and cover the repair[?]

Nothing exciting planned for today, just continuing to de-populate the layout surface of the additional staged trains from last weekend's open house. Daughter and SIL will be having us over at their house this evening for Mother's Day supper [probably Thai carry-out].

Good Morning all!
43F and rain for the next two days in Libby.
Ok, all of you signal guru's - what would the 4th aspect be in the pix? For the life of me I can't figure out why I did not nail down a location for this AND take mo pix. Two images that follow *might* give someone a clue to where it is. I do not believe that it is somewhere between The Fish to Spokane although definitely in the West.

Funny, I can usually determine location by surrounding stuff. The building is not telling me any information - geesh!

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a little cooler today at 63°, although it is supposed to hit 90°. Presently the NWS is not backing down from their forecast of 90°+ weather for the next ten days. I already cleaned and tested the window A/C units about three weeks ago.

It was nice yesterday since I didn't have to go anywhere! I did home chores like laundry, emptied the dishwasher and removed some stuff we haven't used in years out to the trash dumpster. I hate throwing the 30 volume Encyclopedia Britannica away, but none of the local libraries or used book stores want it. Added to that some of our old college textbooks also. While I have used them for reference a few times, they're not necessary any more with this new-fangled Internet around. After the dew evaporated, I got about half of my varmint fencing up around the garden. Of course I haven't had a visit from it since Tuesday night.
Getting the house ready for the Mother's Day visit tomorrow. Both daughters, one SIL and two of three local grandkids are coming for brunch. My oldest daughter is big on brunch! Eating at that time of day is disruptive to my internal and external schedule.

Thanks so much for all of the likes and comments regarding the last of the museum pictures; Chad, Steve J, James, Hughie, Sherrel, Patrick, Joe, Gary, Jaz, Louis, Smudge, Curt, Rick, Guy, IB Ken, OB Ken, Karl, Tom O.

My visit to the train shed was limited to just running several local switching turns yesterday. I just cannot decide what to do next? Should I continue on my large list of small projects, or tackle a multi-day one. I did finish the clearing out part of the underside and I can now run the electric cable to power the lighting circuit.
Today, I'll post some random pictures of rail.

Tom O - Hospitals here are not quite a draconian. Masks, yes. No tests or proof for visitors, no limits on visitor hours. Waiting rooms/rest areas on the individual floors have had the chairs removed, but the main hospital lounge has chairs spaced 6' apart. They discharge most patients in the afternoon when possible so they are pretty much ghost towns at night. It is somewhat eerie.
Curt - Bummer about the A/C.

Today used to be National Train Day, an observance started by Amtrak in 2008, but discontinued in 2016.
Everyone have a great day.

Good morning fellow modelers. I did get home around 2 yesterday as the Hospitalist did show before noon. So glad to be home in my own bed.

Terry got me settled in at home yesterday and took off for a family wake in Rockford, Il about 90 minutes away. My side no longer does the Funeral Home visitations, we party in celebration, but her side still does. Not sure which is better but she did say it was sad yesterday. Her mom and dad came from huge Catholic families. Her mom was the 11th of 13 and her dad 8th of 14. So, so many cousins. We had a couple years ago a family (her side) get together, not reunion, here at the house. Almost 300 showed up, just cousins and families. They do gather about 3-4 times a year even during Covid which we missed

While I am not very strong I feel good. Tuesday, I get a Ultra Sound and a CT chest scan. They want a base line to watch from. Radiation depends on the biopsy that I should have Monday the results of. I don’t react well to Radiation as I get very sick for a few days and can’t generally hold anything but soup down. The doctors at the previous Medical facility called it Radiation sickness. As soon as I get the iodine pill, I start getting sick. One doctor thought it was mental on my part! But as I wrote before, better then Chemo. I also dislike the lemon drops I will be taking hourly for about 3 days.

I will walk into the train room today. Not sure if I will try to run or sit at the bench but I will get in there. Terryis asking if I want to try the Farmers Market circuit this morning? I am debating this in my mind. Maybe…

Good morning, y'all. 50° rain (1.21"), and wind (30-35mph from NE). This is described as a "Coastal Storm".

NMRA NJ Division along with the Garden State Division are holding a meet at Camp Evans (Wall, NJ), just a short distance from me. Did not feel like attending, or streaming it....When I'm not feeling well, I'm not interested. Now I regret not going. Usually the NJ Division meets are in South Jersey, and the GS further North.

I did spend some time operating the railroad last night. Listened to the Radio Broadcast of the Maple Leafs - Tampa Bay playoff game - Toronto Feed - on my phone, while moving the transfer from one end to the other. The yard crew then switched it out, and made up the run to drill the freight house and the Purina Facility. Later in the evening, I watched the first three innings of the Washington Nationals - Anaheim Angels game on MLB TV. The LA pre game show was carried so I watched that until the game started. Then I switched to the MASN feed for the actual game. I was surprised to see former Mets Manager and Stanford, CT Public Works Director, Bobby Valentine was one of the analyst on the Angels pre game show.

Today, will be another indoor day, I plan on spending the afternoon working on the layout. We are exactly 20 days from the Great B.E.N.N.Y migration to the Shore for the Summer, which I commemorate by replacing my Reading stuff with CNJ Stuff, until Labor Day.

Curt: Hope your AC problems are favorably resolved, quite quickly.

Tom: Glad your home. hope your follow up treatments go well, and your Biopsy results are favorable.

The boys remembered their mother, both gifts arriving Yesterday. Tomorrow, I get to cook. Breakfast and Dinner. Hope I'm up to the challenge.

SA-31 W of South Amboy 05_05_2022 enroute to Lakewood - Mike Guida photo.jpg

Mike Guida photo of SA-31 Westbound along the Bay Shore between South Amboy and Morgan, last Thursday, 5/5/2022, enroute to Lakewood.
Later that evening, I heard the SA-31 blowing for the numerous crossings including Hwy 9.
