Morning Peeps! Looking for 84f and sunny skies with zero clouds!

A decent night's sleep with waking at 5:30am feeling good - for a rare change.
After being up for a couple hours the heart and O2 little thingy is starting to go wonky again. Hope that it will settle back down somewhat, but that's the way i t's been for the past couple weeks. COME ON TUESDAY!

TomO, SteveJ, and others -- keep on i mproving.

I all cases the radiation treatments were terrible but nothing compared to what I have seen chemo do to folks. I am very fortunate that I have had excellent care providers and super great insurance.
Tom
Tom - I did radiation treatments for Prostate cancer ( PSA was 16 ) a couple of years ago just before the 'Vid. 6 weeks, 5 days a week. I don't remember it being anything close to terrible which makes me wonder what has changed since you did yours. They stuck me in a big draconian machine which irradiated me for something like 45 seconds. No idea of how many Rad's I was getting. Had to drive almost 240 miles round trip for that as there was nothing in or any closer to Libby. Cancer Care Northwest was great as they bent the rules for me because of the distance I was coming in from. Gave me an 'Atta Boy' paper for making every appointment.
Anyway - glad you came through all of it!

Good Morning All. Clear and 59° here on the SFW estate, heading up to 82° today. Last pleasant day before the week of 90°+ days coming up. Unusually early this year for that kind of extended warm spell. The rain predicted for yesterday stayed south and east of us and there is none in the ten day forecast. That's OK since I had 3" total earlier this week.

The busy day yesterday went off without a hitch, grocery trek, trip to Home Depot, lunch at a BBQ joint and then the trip to the doctor. He has again reduced my dosage of Metformin (500mg/2x), since I have continued to bring my A1C level down, 5.6 on the last blood draw. It used to always be above 7.2! I split some more firewood after I got home, I thought that I would feel it this morning, but no! Today, I plan to put up 150' of 24" high chicken wire fence around the garden to keep the persistent critter out that keeps disrupting things out there when rooting for dinner. Although I saw no damage yesterday, it is most likely still in the neighborhood though. Today or tomorrow, I need to borrow my neighbor's mower while mine is still in the shop. He has one of those fancy zero radius turn mowers that I am interested in trying anyway. I'll be mowing 3/8 mile of road ROW in each direction to get it to my house. His son, another neighbor, did that about three weeks ago, so it's time to do it again.

Thanks for all of the likes and comments regarding the garden pictures; Karl, Guy, Joe, Chad, Smudge, Hughie, Moermusic, Patrick, Louis, Steve J, Curt, Tom, IB Ken, OB Ken.

It was a busy day for me yesterday and I didn't get a chance to get into the train shed. So I will continue with the series of pictures that I took while on vacation last year at the Roadside America Museum in Hillsboro TX.

Ken (D&J) - You want a request for pictures? I'd like to see some of the empty empire as well as your destinations for intermodal traffic.
Troy - Prayers and best wishes continue for your mother and your family.
Guy - Amusing story about the hare.
Jaz - That's quite a greenhouse, or poly tunnel as you call it. Those are common on commercial places around here, but they have to be re-covered every year to stay ahead of the incessant winds in the spring. Commercial folks are the only ones who can afford that.
Sherrel
I think maybe I better start "shopping"!
I am leaving that up to the heirs to pay back all of the aggravation that I endured.
You an't seen anything yet
2022 has not been a normal year for me, but I plan to get back to normal health by June at the latest. My energy level has fully recovered and has actually improved.
Joe - WOW and double WOW!!! Armed security at blood testing centers there in Jersey. I always knew that there was tough neighborhoods there, but WOW! My issues with Quest have always been after the fact and normally the doctor's office eventually straightens them out. It has happened with both my company provided health insurance and Medicare w/supplement. I had to pay additional just one time about 10 years ago because the doctor actually had a certain blood test done 89 days after the previous one instead of 90 days. Since then I schedule my visits at 90 days plus one week to prevent that.
Tom O - Best wishes on a successful and speedy recovery. Seems like you have this process down pat by now. When I was visiting Arlene in the hospital recently at mealtime, the nurse provided me with a full meal. Someone else either died or was released early.
Patrick -
I blame Willie for not keeping it south...
Pay back for the winter weather earlier this year.
Steve J - Best wishes on your recovery as well.

Everybody have a great day and an awesome weekend.

Got an email announcing the arrival of 5G home streaming service, so will be looking into that. Currently pay $125/ mo for hi-speed internet only from Comcast/Xfinity - - - - - robbery, IMHO, but monopolized.

I pay about $90 for 600mb from Comcast. However to get that I had to go into my account and change over. My older service was more expensive and slower but was an old plan they no longer offered. By switching to a new plan (no contract required if I didn't want a $10 a month discount for a year) I saved money and got faster. That taught me to periodically go in online and see what plans I could switch to and how they compare to the (possibly grandfathered) plan I am on now.

Willie: Up until age 73, except for two rounds of a kidney stone over 5 years apart, The only times I frenquented a doctors office was at 6 month intervals for my flight physical and EKG's. Nowdays, I cannot seem to get away from them - I extinguish one fire just in time to see another start.
I will say that Kaiser has been a godsend. They do have a few minor co-pays on an initial "new" problem, but I have received excellent care - and seemingly lots of it lately!

"just trying to cover themselves in case insurance doesn't pay" - but I had no clue they weren't even billing the insurance company!? <RANT>
Here's the thing. I don't go there, unless I have a valid reason for it. (Key phrase - Medical Necessity) Medicare pays blood work at 100% of Medicare allowed blood work...there are exceptions, that apply in limited circumstances, and the Labs know these circumstances, which is why they bring that to your attention. Then it's up to you to decide whether to self pay or skip it. (I decline the questionable procedure). Private insurance generally has a co-pay that is collected up front. Need Rx, and go to a designated facility arranged by contract. CC/Check or Cash for co-pay. It's called managed care for a reason. Only reason for a CC in advance is self pay. They get charged full retail mark-up, and are most likely, (statistically), to skip out on the bill.

I am totally tired of this crap. As I get older, I see more medical facilities and practitioners for more reasons than ever. I pay substantial premiums, (Medicare B, Supplement, and Prescription) that between myself and my wife cost around $10,000/year. I don't want to hear about the labs problem with collections, no one gives a hoot about my expenses.

When one of these facilities...and they all have their schemes...tries to guilt, (or coerce), me into advancing them money, or giving them access to my finances because insurance may not pay their full share, I really have to practice restraint.

Both facilities were in Howell. (proximity to Lakewood might have something to do with that, but...). The Quest in Freehold doesn't have anyone in the patient area, just computer kiosks. I still think it is inappropriate. Howell is a relatively calm suburban area. Based on what others have told me, Labcorp frequently asks for a credit card in advance...not the way I do business.

Just had some new neighbors move in...

Squatters, actually... though they seem like a nice couple. Too skittish to stick around for a photo, though... This is the fence around our AC units. House/condo is to the left of frame, and garage is to the right.

Back to those neighbors... they're not the best builders...

The only problem is this is right by out door to enter the garage. So I'm saying high to Mama Bird each trip out or back.
That is a better choice to squat than my new neighbor. I've put a block over the switch so they don't get a carnival ride with no seat belts.

Afternoon All,

Did some chores then started to put trains on the layout but got sidetracked by our AC air handler that just started sounding like a rock tumbler (no exaggeration). The repair guy is supposed to be here between 5-8 pm. Of course, it's 95 F here today. Received a referral to the surgeon at VA and the Doc says "Oh, you're due for a colonoscope in August😣. Was given another course of antibiotics.

Troy and Iron Horseman- What kind of birds are they?

TomO- I'm glad things went well for you.

Joe- Nice scene.

Steve- I'm glad you are doing well.

Ken- I looked at the LRT website (I haven't been on it in years). It appears that all their boards are now single signal head. The side that the signal LED's wire into only has 1 set of connections. My older boards have 2 sets on each. I figure you would have to drop around $300-400 once you get the sensors, power supplies and power convertor they have.

On a different note, when I went to use the TT today it would only move for a second before stopping🤬. I cleaned the contacts and the contact pad then it started working properly but now it was catching on one of the approach track rails. First time for this-WTH? I filed the rail and tested it and it was fine.

Willie- Very cool.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Gardening went well today, I turned over two new beds, approx 4’x8’ weeded, added extra soil weeded, and planted
8 tomatoes in one
15 sweet corn fiesta (reddish), 8 squash probably zucchini, 20 beans mixed in the other
technically I am putting out a lot of corn but I hope to harvest and dry as food for my birds
i’ll see about adding photos.
nothing o n the railway to day but I will pull a picture
loco or 3

Almost forgot to post the pictures of the yard with only intermodal.

and the intermodal facility.
I had a couple intermodal trains running at the time on the mainline, seen in the foreground and in the background on the next peninsula over.
The container stacks are to the right of this picture.
