Thanks for the kind comments and likes for our boardwalk project. Our church has a TOOLBOX TEAM consisting of 8 retired men who do minor repairs and maintenance around the church property. Changing filters, light bulbs and trimming bushes is almost invisible but the boardwalk should be around while helping others..

Good evening gang!

Worked on the lift bridge wiring some more tonight, 1 more cable to run through the wall, over the door and back out behind and under the backdrop to the other side of the lift bridge before I can wire up the relays that will control it all. Otto from RMC wants an article on it asap. So after almost a year of planning and researching, I'm getting close to completion then the article. I have another on to build on the far side of the layout so where I screw up on the is one I can apply lessons learned to the second on..

John, you may be on to something with the center support bearing, also you might want to check axle runout and alignment. It wouldn't be the 1st time I have seen an axle shaft bent right at the flange.

Shortwrench. Not recently, but I have been know to zip tie shopping carts to door handle for cars that take up too many spaces. ;) :rolleyes:

Willie, So now you have the doctors mystified. I too think you may have had it figured out but don't be too hard on them. If they had it all figured out, their office wouldn't be called a "practice".

Early this AM I was in a Costco parking lot waiting for the place to open…
I was scrolling through stuff on my phone when heard the throb of engines…the squealing sound of trains…
Looking up, I saw an intermodal freight heading downtown…
Red CPKC loco leading, orange BNSF loco following…then containers…
Among them many Canadian Tire, green USAC, orange Hapag-Lloyd, brown Tex, white USAC ( never seen these before ) and some nice looking GIANT TIGER containers.. ( had the TIGRE GĒANT French side facing me on all these containers…and many more names…

In the middle of train was one of the brown, yellow, red CPKC locos…
It was faded and filthy which surprised me as the merger wasn’t that long ago

I mentioned earlier that I was going to put a scrap load in a gondola, so here it is with pictures.
I found a heavy aluminum foil lid to a frozen food meal, painted it black and gray, cut it into 3 HO feet squares and had about a cup of scrap metal. I wanted a removeable load, so I put plastic wrap under the cardboard base.

I covered the cardboard with scrap pieces and tossed in a couple random scrap pieces. I dribbled thinned glue over the scrap. It will take about 3 days for the glue to dry and then the plastic wrap will be removed

The Central of Georgia gondola shows the dried glue is not noticeable. This is an easy load to make but can be messy if you dump the freshly glued load over on its side.

Well imagined, this. Reminds me of the HO "rebar" load atop a bulkhead flatcar from a couple of years (?) back.

- airport ZRH up and running, the A380 from Etihad? finally left the stand after i dont know 2 weeks..

65°F at 0710 this morning. Possible shower late this evening. Looking for 85°F. Missed a record by 1°F yesterday, and not likely to happen today either.

I'll be visiting the train room later after lunch today for a session. There was also something in there I wanted to take care of but can't remember what that was from a week ago. I guess I'll remember if I see it again.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 63°, going back into the mid-80's again today...and tomorrow...and the next day...etc. Still have that remote chance of rain in the forecast for tomorrow night and isolated thunderstorms Friday and Saturday. Next cool front Saturday.

Hoping to recover today from my disjointed day yesterday that started with the medical visit that I thought was today! While it went well, it didn't resolve anything, but it wasn't supposed to anyway. But that was yesterday's rant.
Today's rant is about grocery suppliers, specifically their desire to change packaging. I was pissed last year when Lea & Perrins removed the paper wrapper from their Worcestershire Sauce (at least locally), thus making it harder to find on the crowded pantry shelf! Other companies have changed their traditional packaging, making it more difficult to find exactly what I am looking for in the grocery store. I bought a wrong item last week. I tend to be a traditionalist so let's keep the packaging the same until after I leave this world! OK, minor rant because I'm getting older!

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did continue with my new project. I added ground cover to the General Store base, both grass and gravel. Excuse the blurriness of the second picture...it was taken after I opened an adult beverage. At least that's my excuse!;)

I also added more ground cover to the plywood, but I neglected to take a progress picture.
And to keep my scale drivers safe, I assembled and painted a barrier for the end of the dead end road to keep them off the RR tracks.

Patrick - It isn't any of my business, but isn't your son qualified to till his own garden with the tiller that you provided? Less wear and tear on your body.
Karl - John Astin is one amazing person. Can you imagine still teaching a college course at age 91?
Loved the idea of zip-tying the shopping carts to the door handles. I might have to get a bag of them to carry in the car

We stopped at one for lunch in Tennessee on our way down to Florida. Haven't been to one in 10 years or more since we don't have on back home that is close. Our experience was the same as yours. Food was excellent as well as the service and at a reasonable price.

Sunny and 67F should be another gorgeous day. I see we are getting thunderstorms back in Illinois. I bet my grass will be out of control by the time I get back home.

Tonight we are taking a sunset dolphin cruise. We have done the one in Destin a couple of times and decided to do a different one. This one is in FT Walton beach.

Good morning. A bright Wisconsin morning at 49f degrees heading to the mid 60’s but we won’t be here. Flight to Orlando is at 4:30.

Did something Stupid, idiotic, dumb whatever you want to call it yesterday! Bit coin! I now own Bitcoin and I will blame the war and family pressure. I generally don’t listen or react to financial gurus or follow investing trends. This time I admit, I have . The wife, son and brother have been saying for months to buy some. It’s a mystery to me how BitCoin works as were the commodities in 1990 when I started playing with them and almost lost my family. This time though it’s buy and forget and if it doubles sell half. If it tanks well it won’t be any worst than what I’ve lost on paper the past month in the stock market. That’s my only tangible reason and thankfully if I lose it, there is no real affect.

Gas here ranged from $3.39 per gallon to $3.89 yesterday as I passed stations coming home from my medical. The higher ethanol content gas was about $.15 cheaper per gallon. It is what it is…

The launch of Artemis 2, the moon shot is tomorrow I hope is very successful. If it’s delayed till Thursday our tour of Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center is off. They can’t run the tours with rockets on the launch pads! We did ask about a good launch viewing spot and I have a few places to look at. The place we are staying says the patio deck on the east side of the house is pretty good and is screened in. The folks all say even though it is quite a distance away we will hear it. I’d like to get closer but no car this time and it’s not recommended anyway

Not a Kid Rock fan but so what about 2 Apache helicopters on training missions visiting his house. I doubt it’s a political good will gesture. We have all sorts of F35 training missions fly over us all year and during Summer exercises helicopters fly over the neighborhood, hover for a period of time and take off. No landings and I’ll wave to them, big deal. It’s not like they are r spending $110 million this year already for golfing trips, they were training

I may visit the train room but with the paper mill sold and the framework where the mill was the room is kind of depressing. It will be a great place in May when the rebuild starts but not now

Like you, I have no idea what it is, how it works, and if it's anything but a vaporware meme and not a tangible asset. I know several people that have lost big in the last year, but keep telling me to buy once it gets below $60k. I still don't know what keeps it from going down even lower.

I understand Bitcoin, but I refuse to get caught up in the hype. My investments go into entities that have real sales, real physical assets and real employees. It's selling for around $66K right now, 5 months ago it was $126K. Pity the poor fool who bought it back then

I was at Canaveral for the Apollo-Soyuz launch in the 70s. It was the loudest, low frequency sound I've ever heard to this day. It makes your whole body vibrate internally. Even at three miles away, it is still quite spectacular to witness a Saturn 1B launch. I don't know if an STS launch would have had the same effect. Acoustically or visually, but I guess it would be close.

As a 13 year old, I was thrilled to death to find out we were going to be there for this launch. I was building and flying a lot of model rockets at the time and was very interested in space exploration and astronomy. I guess that's how I wound up working on Minuteman II in the Air Force.
