Good Morning All. Clear and a rather nice brisk 58° outside on the porch. Got a bit cooler overnight than the forecast, it also didn't get as warm yesterday as forecast; just 88° instead of the predicted 93°. But the NWS is persistent, that's what they are forecasting again for today.

The usual household and outdoor tasks yesterday and again today. Seems that they are taking longer to accomplish. Green Bean planting is planned for today. The Old Farmer's Almanac says go. While I don't strictly follow it, I use their guidelines more often than not.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did more painting. Touched up the backdrop and ground. Then I painted the street.

Nothing fancy, just simple painting of concrete colored paint on the plywood. On the right, the road leads off the layout to allow more room for structures/scenery over there. Had to do additional touchup painting after that because the masking tape bulged up and allowed some paint to seep under. I think that it was due to the moisture in the latex paint. Still contemplating that RH corner, no hurry.

Troy - Nice power setup you're assembling there. I hope that you never have to use it in an Armageddon event.
On another note; I thought that I read a post of yours about a year ago that you were getting out of the war-gaming and back into model railroading. What happened to that? No problem, I love seeing your paint on the pieces, just wondering.
David (Marlin) - Regarding the cucumber and tomato cage method: I once made the acquaintance of an old-timer gardener over 50 years ago, who planted part of his Corn rows with a Cucumber seed and a couple of Green Bean seeds with every Corn seed. His reasoning was that the Cucumbers could climb up the Corn stalks making use of the unused vertical space. The Green Beans, being a legume, added nitrogen to the soil nourishing both and also made use of the ground space and shaded the surrounding soil. He planted the Green Beans throughout the Corn blocks, but only used Cucumbers on every 4th or 5th plant. Made sense and I saw it work, but it was a bit tedious harvesting the Beans. I never tried it myself since I don't waste space growing corn.
Airbrush - Shipping containers falling off ships happens all of the time. I have read numbers as high as 1600 a year, although that is a really small percentage of the overall number transported.

Everybody have a super-duper Saturday. It will be a sad one for me in a bit when I review the Stock Market results from the week.

58°F this morning after St. Louis set a record of 88°F yesterday. I never checked what the high was here, but the time I checked it was about 83°F. I know my furnace never ran after 1000 yesterday. Not quite shorts weather for me, it has to be hot outside for me to have to wear shorts. Looking for 87°F today, so I can open the house up again. I love Spring and Autumn when I can have the windows and front door open.

Didn't get to the grill yesterday, and probably not today either. The Holosun red-dot sight showed up on time via UPS yesterday. Hard to screw up a delivery from 100 miles away. That's why I like buying from Midway USA. It's close. Not always the cheapest, but shipping is cheap and fast, and sometimes free for over $99, and always UPS. They stock a lot of ammo and firearm accessories with a selection of gunsmithing tools too.

Supposed to be zero'ed for 25 yards out of the box. It is a lot easier to see this dot than the iron sights for my eyes. You are supposed to be able to use both eyes open to use this, but that isn't working with my messed up eyes. It seems to be zero'ed for elevation and windage, and it almost co-witnesses with the iron sights. The green dot is right on top of the front sight when irons are aligned properly, but it's right at the bottom of the window. Higher sights are definitely in order for proper co-witness. I have to wear my new glasses though to keep the dot from starring out on me. If I don't have my glasses on, there are a lot of artifacts around the dot and it's not sharp.

I practised presentation yesterday to get used to finding the dot in the window. Seems to be getting better. Still need to work on it. My nephew is coming by later today and we're going to head for the range with a bag to check zero on the sight and he wants to shoot his new Kimber.

Have a great weekend! Servus!

Grilled two steaks today after sous vide at 135f for about an hour. Yeah, not too thick. Fired up some old briquettes in a chimney and put a tiny grate on the chimney. With the fire going at insane levels, put the steak on, counted to 20, flipped, counted to 20 flipped and repeated for 2 more times. Next steak on, same treatment. A little wasabi and shoyu, awesome!

I did fry up some onions and put the juices from the sous vide bag into it to flavor it up as well.

My brother has his Phd in Ag and mentioned that rotating where I put the peas & beans every year would actually help with the other stuff around it. I used to grow corn where the asparagus is now, but got tired of cleaning up the stalks at the end of the season. I think that's a great idea planting the corn and cucumbers together. I wish I had a bit more space.

Good morning all!

Going to feel more like a summer day here today. Currently 51F with a high of 81F. Already have the shorts and t-shirt ready for the day.

Yesterday my furnace parts came and I installed them. Took about 20 minutes total and I replaced both filters while I was at it since I had
them. A few things on the agenda today. Have to do the weekly grocery trip. The second is cleaning the car up for our upcoming Florida
trip next week. We leave bright and early next Saturday. Probably have a load or two of laundry to get done as well.

My daughter has 2 friends that are in a play at school. She is going to the opening night tonight to support them so wife and I will be on
our own for dinner and were leaning towards Mexican since my daughter doesn't care for it and we rarely ever get it.

Nothing much else going on at thee moment.

Have a safe day everyone!

Is it possible to mount the solar panels flat on the storage shed roof? Can anyone see them up there from a second floor window?
It would be the garage roof, and yes, everyone in my 10-unit building would see them if they looked out the upper story. As would the people in the building across our parking/drive area.

I'll be making a push with the HOA to get a policy in place... but only after I have the $$$$$$ to get the "garage" rebuilt.

#1 Adaptability on the Clifton Strengths list for me.

What that means is I chase shiny squirrels. Whatever shiny squirrel darts in front of me, I'm off after it. Then I dodge over to the next squirrel running interference for the first... then the third, then the fifth...

That's why I have multiple hobbies.

There were two new games that popped up... I thought one would do it, but the designers decided to keep complicating it... and the game I left due to the obnoxious tourney players .... well, they came out with a new edition. And their game lets me make mini dioramas on the unit bases. The other games don't afford that hobby luxery.

And, to be honest, I hit the "Lay and wire track" phase.... guess what part I HATE? I've gotten to that point twice before, but had to redo/move benchwork.

I really need to bite the bullet on it, and get the roadbed down, then the track. But.... Ugh.

SQUIRREL! ----->

I was the last locomotive engineer that didn't have to cross over the 200 ft high railroad bridge in Poughkeepsie NY as part of the training. All other's including next person on the engineer's training list my friend Vic Scapperotti had to make the trip across. He said, when you're on the engine and look out the side window you don't see the bridge. Swal

Good morning all.

Went to favorite Italian place with Daughter and SIL, who is from Greece. He and the owner of course started talking as soon as the owner, Rafael, heard Petros' accent. Rafael came over from Calabria. We never order from the wine list there, as Rafael always has some special offerings in numbers too few to place on the list. He brought out a Bolgheri Toscana, which are of course quite nice, but it was a vintage 2024. He started to open it and then got a bit annoyed when I stopped him and asked to see something with some age. Then he brought the 2011 Nebbiolo - - that's the ticket! Delicious! Also, he said since Petros' knows oil, he brought us some special olive oil for dipping that was fantastic! Nice dinner, even if a bit pricey. Think Scale Trains Rivet counter with best of sound decoders. YOLO!

Heading to 78F today. Grilling steaks tonight.

Still open to suggestions re small footprint elevator and petroleum dealer. I do have my eye on the Interstate, and a couple others.

Today I hope to install the track on the trestle and then that is all the track laid! Also hope to install the new PSXX CBs and star wiring feeders. I want to run trains again!!

Enjoy the day!

Will someone here go on YouTube Music and see if you can access my song list under Swal20 Swal's Classic Rock Vol 01. I'm not sure what some of my golf friends have to do to download this list. I can't do it because it automatically brings up my list. I'm trying to figure out what happens when someone other than myself tries to play the list. They tell me let me know when you figure everything out. I don't know what I'm doing as far as this goes. It has 135 views, so someone has accessed it. Swal

I was able to access it fine.

Glad to see some Styx on there! 😀

I have YouTube Premium so I don't have to watch any ads. I think this package also lets me add 5000 songs to the list. I think this is part of the package. I was wondering if someone plays my list how many songs will they be able to listen to. The 217 I have on the list. I don't know how all this works and none of my golf friends know. Thanks for the help. I'm leaning. Swal
