Nicki and I are going for pedicures today. It's something I do with her every couple of months. I never thought I would enjoy it until she took me in one Valentines Day.

I prepped my beds for seed yesterday and am planning on starting seeds at the end of this month. I picked the first asparagus of the year over the weekend.....about 6 weeks early for that.

This was the warmest Winter we've had in 20+ years. Zero snow, Zero days staying below freezing, NO ICE, and unfortunately very little mountain snow. Snowpack levels across Mt. Hood are currently 70% of normal. Mt. Hood's annual average snowfall total is 246". That's not good for the salmon or farmers.
Make sure you get the volcano sugar scrub lol and here come to indiana you have take this snow

Well howdy there music aficionados, and those who understand why mountains come out of the sky and stand there

It's Troy again

Impressed with Anker's service. Order that I placed this morning already has a tracking number and awaiting pickup by the carrier.

In other news, watching the DVDs of Battlestar Galactica. I'm three episodes into season 2. All I can say is Daaaaaaayum! That's great writing and pacing.

Just saw the Lee Harvey Oswald, Jack Ruby moment.... Since I know the plot, some of the visuals in this sequence were foreshadowing as well as great visuals.

I have to limit myself to two episodes a night. If I do three, then I take a night off so I don't do a repeat and OD on it. If I spend too much time watching a show or series, then I have to break off, and it's tough to get back in.

My wife, however, can fill every evening pumping the shows in. That's how she got so far ahead of me watching this series.

And, if there are any fans of Firefly, looks like Nathan Fillion is working on the final stages of getting Firefly in animation (because they have to have it between the series, and the follow up movie. Problem... the cast is 20 years older than the movie... so animation to make it lets the originals (minus one, RIP) reprise their roles via voice.

In case you haven't seen it yet:
"...and those who understand why mountains come out of the sky and stand there..."

If this ISN'T somehow a reference to YES and their fifteen minute opus "South Side of the Sky" (off the magnificent Fragile LP) then I'm even more infused...transfused.....................confused...than I am I think. Er...than I think I am.

I had the same thought when I read it. Fragile, the 3rd best YES album.

Good evening gang!

Tonight I'm taking it easy after a "bananas" day in the shop! It's not a full moon but the "natives" were restless today. And it wasn't just the customers, it was my co-workers too! And for those who thought there is never a stupid question, you must never been in a busy auto shop. Sometimes a facepalm is all you can do!

So now I am decompressing with an adult beverage, listening to a brass engine running on roller blocks. Kind of like the machine in the basement you walk on but don't go anywhere. I let them run an hour or so in each direction then recheck the running gear before lining them up for the paint shop. Hopefully after being disassembled for paint this spring/summer then reassembled this fall, they will run just as well .

Tootles!

My daughter works in the accounting section of the local hospital. When she first started, she was supposed to receive training. She took notes, asked questions, tried real hard. The people who were supposed to be training her were grouchy ol' hags. They were more interested in surfing the internet instead of working. She kept at it until and finally got word up to the supervisor, who then took her under her wing and started training her. She saw how my daughter had much better work ethic than the others. So now, they hire a new girl and she is training her. This girl isn't taking notes, asks the same questions over and over and basically, sounds like is trying to get an easy job. My daughter does her work, finishes on time and has quality results. The others (ol' hag) make mistakes and then tries to blame the others.

So, at the end of the work day, they find that the new girl didn't finish and then the "leader" asks everybody else to help, so they work OT. My daughter found that the newbie sits around for a few hours doing nothing, which is why she never finishes. I advised my daughter to "just say no". The poor behavior should come to light and receive the consequences that it deserves. They don't get 1.5 pay, so no real incentive.

Oh dear, light a candle and raise a glass to a departed friend, Firecrown have just shuttered Classic Trains Magazine, the current issue is the last:

From July, Classic Trains content is to be incorporated into an "expanded" Trains Magazine (up to a whole 68 pages!! - yes, that is sarcasm) so, assuming I can find a paper copy of the Spring 2026 issue here in the UK, that is the proverbial it.

Drop something nice and strong into that coffee please...

Gong day for me today. When you finished your 28 days of treatment you have to strike the Gong before you leave. Everyone one in the place claps when this happens. You can see I was all dressed and ready to go home. They told me we have to take your picture doing this before we discharge you. Ok I'll do it, just let me get out here so I can stay home for a while without having to drink 10 glasses of water every day before I get here. Swal

Congratulations George. Best wishes for a permanent remission.
Boris you have no idea how happy I'm for this to be over. I took a guy named Fran's time slot the last 2 days because his bladder was not full and they sent him back to drink more water. That's usually a 30 minute setback. He only lives a mile from me, and we plan on playing golf when he finishes up. I can now eat a normal meal and don't have to drink 10 glasses of water before I get there every day. That's over, Thank God. They would not let me take a photo of the machine for some reason, but it looks exactly like the one in the blow photo,

Neat that they have that set up! A great day! Congrats and glad you made it through!

Great news George, continuing prayers from here for you.
A bit warmer today, tomorrow is supposed to be pretty and into the low 70s. Gave myself a headache today painting on some really detailed minis, my eyes are not as young as they used to be. LadyC and I went to Arby's for lunch then braved Walmart. Watching the World Baseball Classic, USA is down 2-0 in the 7th, hope they can pull it out. Anyway, hope you all have a good night.

Yeah, well I whiffed on two successive swings there. South Side of the Sky is about the same length as is Roundabout (not 15m)...and of course the line you gave comes from Roundabout. I think I might have confused the length with EWF's "New World Symphony" (about 9.5m) and Pablo Cruise's pinnacle "Ocean Breeze" (12m+)

But, and that said, if you listen to South Side of the Sky I think you could easily picture as I often have a line of roped climbers struggling upward through a blizzard...and then finding a break in the weather...and for the last time basking in the sun when the tune breaks out into a moment of major and not minor chords...only to find another storm set in. And struggle upward again...and a last and final cost.

If you know the events of the Everest expeditions in 1996 (Rob Hall, Scott Fischer and the rest), and if you've seen the movie "Everest" where the storm comes UP the valley from below, you can picture something like it too. But for me, I was seeing it back then, in ancient times. When dinosaurs still ruled the earth...and when the rocks were still soft.

AKA the seventies.

---------------

OMG! Now I understand why younger people sometimes call me........"sir!"
