Good morning to all the Crews and crazies among us. So Central Wisconsin is on a roller coaster of temperature swings and wind chills. Right now it’s 36f degrees feeling like 30. Yesterday it never felt more than 23! Today the high will be in the 60’s. Yesterday at the 2pm protest rally I was in the heavy Winter coat with hood up and gloves on. Today if the protest was held I could wear shorts!

10,000 plus at the big protest in Madison but not enjoying getting trampled on during a 1 mile walk and Terry having issues with large crowds we, meaning she, decided on the Silver Foxes rally where we had I believe 700 to 900. I counted on the road between the equal distance trees and multiplied and it’s my personal number. I did see in the 90 minutes we were there 3 guys walk through with a counter in their hand. So someone was officially counting. I know one of the “Media” organizations says these protests are organized by a $3 billion funded group but there sure was no money in the signs I saw. Maybe 3 looked professional and Terry’s sign was yellow poster-board from my supply. I am the transport and keep her out of jail support person. She really gets into this and I’m there to bail her out if need be. This does remind me of the anti war protests I saw in Chicago as a teenager.

On Friday I organized the material bins from my friend filled with items possibly to use on his paper mill I am building. I also organized 3 of my own material bins. Saturday because I knew how disjointed the day would be I started re-organizing my storage racks. I have 1 wire slide out shelving rack that contains detail parts and it’s been awhile since I had gone through it. This particular rack also holds my extra electrical layout items and a couple drawers of extra paints from Vallejo and Tamiya. Well the paint drawer matched to the bottle the paints in inventory on my spreadsheet now in Google Docs on my IPadPro. Yes, after years of avoiding or trying really hard to avoid the Google madness I have succumbed! I got the 14 drawer wire rack redone and corrected on the inventory page.

With extra room in 4 wire rack drawers I then moved detailing containers from the shelving unit 20’ away to the now empty 4 drawers. My full detailing rack is now within 8’ of where I work. That freed up space for the not on the layout rolling stock fleet that didn’t come close to my inventory sheets. After dinner and the finish to the hockey game I worked till about 8:30 and i will be back in there today. I knew I had gone a bit nutz-o on tank car, reefers and wood chip cars purchases but I will start to remedy that in May when we return and start selling again on Facebook. My layout was designed for 40 cars and around 60 is what I really wanted to own. Having 141 cars is too much. But I went on a buying spree last Fall and now I need to do something about it. This does not include the rolling stock I purchased to weather and sell. With the disposable income in the hobby seemingly in the tank the sales while still there are very much slower than 2024 before my stroke and about the same as my abbreviated 2025 as I re-bounded.

I need to get to the pharmacy today. My new medicine pack includes 3 injectable medicines that are once a week. Since we will be gone over 3 weeks and they need to be refrigerated I needed TSA approved cooling packs. The pharmacy notified me they have arrived.

Enjoy your day

Good Sunday morning! 45°F here heading for 73°F. No wind, sunny skies, maybe we will see slightly higher than guessed at temps today. Maybe I can get that pie in the oven later. I completely forgot about it yesterday until I wanted a piece about 1900 last night.

Have a great Sunday! Servus!

Morning all,

52° and mostly clear, high of 80° later.

Got the servers updated yesterday along with the firewalls. Then spent most of the day working the bathroom. Mirror went to a glass shop in Wichita as it is a 1/4" thick and needed the cuts polished. They said it may take 4 cuts as there is some stress in the glass along 3 sides. There was also a small chip at the top, but price is still way cheaper than a new piece and cheaper than a medicine cabinet, although a medicine cabinet would be handy. None of the bathrooms have one. Downside of the smaller mirror is that I have some work making the paint lines and sheetrock all back on the same level. That's where I'm currently doing and then paint before the sink goes in.

Everyone have a good day.

Myself, wife, son, dog, and sister went over to my mom's house last night for her 93rd birthday dinner. Her b'day is actually the 31st. I picked up some fresh Alaskan Coho salmon, broccolini, Japanese sweet potatoes, and a loaf of organic, 72 hour fermented, sour dough bread. Mom got to enjoy family and the dog while I cooked. I also made a Marionberry pie for dessert.

The 2 senior communities around us took part in the national social event yesterday. 90% of the sign wavers were old, senior, white women. What a surprise. I'm guessing they were reliving their 1960's college days, for the hour they were standing on the sidewalk. I chuckled and kept my opinions to myself. We live in the Portland "metro" area so I would expect nothing less. Riots of course started after the sun went down in downtown Portland, but again I would expect nothing less.

You guys in the Midwest and East Coast may have some rough weather, but you have basements to build rail empires. I am jealous.

Enjoy another great day.

Good Morning All. Clear and 47°, back into the 80's for e few days until maybe rain towards the end of the week. Next cool front on Saturday; supposed to last longer than the one that we just had. Nothing lower than the mid-40's though.

Palm Sunday today, extra long readings at church this morning. Later at home, a double dose of laundry awaits me. Nothing else currently planned but something else will happen. Nothing of note yesterday except my Green Beans in the garden broke through and are now happily basking in the sunlight.

Also nothing of note out in the train shed yesterday. I did piddle around with both the General Store and added some ground cover to a small area on the layout. None of the complicated areas around structures though. I don't remember taking any progress pictures and left the camera out there anyway. Still in a bit of a modeling funk, but I generally get over that in a day or two. The random mode on the iPod sent me some really good tunes, mainly from the late 60's and early 70's. That era still has the best music in my opinion.

Troy - I certainly didn't mean to open that can of worms that has led to your rebuild effort, but reading about it on your other thread has been interesting!
Tom O - No Kings rallies around here were not as popular as in your area. Not sure if they had one any closer than Denton where less than 300 people attended. We're in a conservative area.

The UK's version of DST, Summer Time, begins today.
Everyone have a great Palm Sunday. Trivia: The ashes for Ash Wednesday come from burning the leftover "blessed" Palm fronds from the previous year's Palm Sunday.

Wow! Quiet coffee shop.

Hope y'all were working on your railroads!

I was. New post up in the layout thread!

I feel as though I'm all shagged out after a loud Squawk!
No, I'm not pining for the Fjords.

In other news: Wife and her sis took their mother to the ER this afternoon. Due to her AFIB. slowing kidney function, and generally being 90 years old, MIL fills with fluid. And her legs are swollen all the way up to her thighs from it.

Despite the heavy duty water pill they started her on back on Thursday.

So, a trip to the ER to see if the IV diuretics will work? Wife was looking up various things medical and learned that one can get resistant to the diuretics. She suspects that's what is going on with her mother.

Wife is bracing herself for a spring and maybe summer of mom hitting the big decline. We'll see if this is the beginning of that or not.

I'm at home, waiting on word. I'm ensconced in the recliner and about to take a couple ibuprofen. I ache all over from the layout revamp. but it's ready to have the main bus run.

Then I can glue on the foam board. But, I also have to figure out how to attach the backing struts for the backdrop divider on the center peninsula. I'll work on that later. I'm tired.

Palm Sunday today, extra long readings at church this morning.
Three years ago on Palm Sunday the church was full and I had to wait outside and I met this girl and started talking to her about if we were ever going to find a seat. At the time I didn't know it then, but my wife was in a nursing home and only had 2 months to live. After my wife passed, I started talking to this girl every Sunday. I told her today this is our 3 year anniversary of us talking to each other every Sunday. I'm not sure if this is a good thing for me or not but she's a very goodlooking girl for being 67 years old and now one of my best friends. Swal

That reminds me, I have an apple pie in the freezer and I am out of "sweet" things to eat.
Thanks.......

Good things happen.

I try not to let it bother me but after looking up what they do and dont believe in they are insane lmao
A friend of mine worked at a place that gave a Christmas bonus. The guy that didn't celebrate holidays that worked there did not get a bonus. He questioned the boss about his bonus (money) and the boss said he did what he thought was best considering the situation. The "guy" said he didn't look at it as a "Christmas" bonus but as a bonus for for all the extra effort he put in on his work in past year. Seems things change when money comes into the picture.
The "guy" worked in a drafting office connected to structural engineering. But he refused to work on church buildings or public schools.

Good evening all!

We made it to Destin and have unpacked, made the Walmart run , and have settled in.

Our view:

Good afternoon all.........

Walthers cattle pen is about 98% complete. Just a couple of gates to add, a little paint/weathering touch up and add some cows. I might paint some cows today. All I gotta do is ride down the road about 1/4 mile and there are plenty of fine examples of beef on the hoof grazing and chewing cud.

I need to drill out some holes in the Accurail car weights. I use screws to hold the trucks in place instead of the "push pins" Accurail provides. So I have to drill a hole in the weight so the screws does not try to push the weight up away from the floor. I also use Kadee couplers and boxes so again I need a hole in the weight to clear the coupler box screws.

Everyone take care....John

Good morning all. Been getting up around 0800 nowadays and really want to stay under the covers, but force myself up. I've been falling asleep between 2300 - 0100, but its still a lot.

Anyway, sitting here now, drinking coffee and watching JAMSI building a Buick V6, similar to what I put in my Toyota PU a long time ago, and wondering what I am going to do today. I believe I've completed all of my projects and just have to retrofit two of my completed coach lighting to install brass springs instead of direct wiring to get power from the bogies.
PICKUPS INSTALLED.jpeg

Completed my last 3 and a 3 hour running session didn't end up in catastrophe, so the install should be solid to go ahead with the retrofit.
