I am glad I am not the only one who thinks HO Adventure doesn't seem (as we say in the UK) the full shilling. Lack of photos (initially at least) no spilling mistaks and no engagement with other users posts/threads or indeed here in the coffee shop are all red flags for a starter.
These things have not gone unnoticed.
Maybe ChatGPT has decided it needs a hobby...

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those who wonder if the webbots understand:
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out

It's Troy (wife says I am NOT a bot) again.

Weather is shifting today. Supposed to be rainy this morning, then sunny and a high near 60 F degrees.

All this talk of bots is reminding me of a piece a friend sent (that included poytics - so I won't cross post)... but it included video from a local Vegas TV news station doing man-on-the-street interviews with "Canadian" tourists visiting Vegas despite the unofficial boycott.

One of the "men on the street" screamed FAKE! even to my ears. He went with F-degree immediately in describing the weather. But the Canucks who broke the story of the fakes, were tuned to say at least one other interviewee was fake, and one questionable. Of the four, only one passed the sniff test he was confirmed by his social accounts to be Canadian. The very fake dude was found on the socials, and he's from Texas.

Perhaps we can send the bots to our Canadian friends for dissection?

In other news, got my Trolls painted, and put together some scenic bases to position them one. First coat of rattle can applied to the bases. Need to tape off part of each, and hit them with the sand color again. Hopefully I can glue them down later today.

False Spring has definitely run it's course, currently 24F and headed to mid 40s.
Troy, I was never really a Rush fan.
During lunch I need to vacuum my truck, my wife's dog was in it and, well, English Cream Retrievers have two shedding seasons, in the Spring for six months and in the Fall for six months. <sigh>

Good Morning All!
44F @ 87% to be near 60F later.

Off to the Spo VA for my hearing test in an hour or so. Been 5 years. VA guy my last visit said "VA didn't provide your current aid, so we didn't know about scheduling for a new pair". What? VA sent me to a local provider for current aids. Oh well.

Ho Adventure - hmmm. The lame "don't know how to [insert your fav here] stuff" and date insert is what got me marking those post 'read' instead of reading them. Ya never know though. Could be s/he is not a model railroad hobbyist, but a model railroader hobbyist. Of those posts I did read, they pretty much stay on point but really ramble; good grammar and have not seen a spelling error. Note that I definitely am not an English Major though. Some of 'dem posts are longer than my screen is tall. You know how long it would take me to do the initial write-up, check, fix and post? Even though I touch type and am pretty fast, suspect I would be at it for 30 to 60 minutes+ each. @bnsf971 - Is there some sort of timer - from 'reply to/create post' to 'post reply'? If indeed AI, should be seconds. If is Human, when does s/he find time to do anything else?

Good morning all.
This journey around the world is about seeing things and travelling to places both my wife and I wish to see etc.
Railroading is not high on our list. Having said that whilst in Boston, my good Lady saw an oil painting of a locomotive. (I did not see it, so no idea what it was.) Anyway, she likes the painting and has purchased it and is having it sent back to the U.K.. Our son will look after it until our return.
"It is to hang up in our railway carriage." Dawn says.

In ten or eleven days we will arrive in Toronto, Canada.

Good morning bot checkers. It’s real simple. Click on the Avatar of possible bot and press ignore. I am suspicious also but I used the button as I do on 1 human here!

It’s 33f degrees now heading into the 60’s. The snow yesterday literally was melting before my eyes. Hopefully by Monday it will be gone again. The possible 1” of rain today will help.

I have mentioned the wind chimes my neighbor has. It seemed awful quiet yesterday while having lunch in the kitchen. Even though the winds were in the teens I didn’t hear the chimes. So, look out the window! Nothing on the Shepard hook which is leaning some. Walked out on the deck to look and the hook is bent maybe 10-20 degrees and the chimes are gone! I think the winds we’ve had the last week might have moved the pole some but doubtful the chimes as big as they were flew off. I wonder which other upset neighbor decided the wind was a good excuse? I know they were chiming on Tuesday morning and the owner left on a trip Tuesday afternoon. Good timing and no it’s not me though I have thought about it

Not sure after the Thursday morning breakfast out what I will do. I have some weathering that I added the final matte clear finish on yesterday to inspect. Those can’t ship until 4/1. I can pack them up and label everything for the daughter to ship after payment is received. We’ll be 4 nights in Florida for some reason (wife’s choice) before heading to Texas for some golf and my brother’s place outside Vegas for more golf and riding for Terry.

I need a break from the paper mill. There is one part of the paper mill I have been avoiding for about a month. I conveniently have been finding other projects. The blow tank needs legs to support it. Let’s say I’m intimidated by this part of the project. I have everything gathered in the project box. I know what to do and how to do it. It’s one of those that there is no room for error. If the legs are even .05% off the whole tank will look like the leaning Tower of Piza or is that pizza for Troy? I did yesterday finalize the placement of the major components of this 46” segment I’ve started and found I was 3.5” off from the plan. One of the numbers was off on the latest template and that was what I was doing the placements with. It was found before I wasted anymore styrene but had to trim a Walthers modular wall I built Monday. Those walls are goofy tough but the Dremel finicky bandsaw I have did ok. A sanding disk on the Dremel hand tool got it close and then the sanding blocks. Finally I used an Exacto #11 blade and scraped it. Isn’t Model Railroading Fun. Yes it is and DCC is just 2 wires!

Have a great day

Morning all,

46° and clear here with a high later of 87°. Hit 80° yesterday. Tomorrow is the first day of Spring, Welcome to Summer with 93° expected. and 97 on Saturday. Then a cold front comes through dropping temps to a freezing 62° for Sunday. The 62° is only 2° above normal for the date. The the the 70's and 80's take over again for next week.

Really pumped as I figured out a networking issue we've been having setting up the new Senior Center. We have a 10Gb fiber ring between all of our buildings. Right now it's a broken ring due to the new Senior Center, but is working fine once I found the issue with the next switch to the North. This morning I located the issue with the southbound link and am waiting to reconnect that fiber to test it. I expect it to pass. Turns out our programming people missed adding the new VLAN to one of 4 fiber ports on the switches on either side of the new building. Once I moved the fiber to a properly configured port, voilà! Still need to get the ports reconfigured, but progress on the new building can move forth.

Good Morning All. It's clear here and 50°, warming continues with upper-80's today and mid-90's for the weekend. Cloudy on Monday so just mid-70's and who knows what for the rest of the week?

Looks like it's time for the weekly grocery trek today, as the fridge is half-empty. My running list is half-full and my wife hasn't offered her suggestions yet. Ran the dishwasher last night, so that awaits me as well. Did laundry yesterday, so that's out of the way.

Finally got off my butt and mowed the SW corner of the yard yesterday, that's the part over the septic system so it's been growing well. Got that and the strip between the woodlot and hayfield done also. Still have a tiny area over in the NE corner that was too wet last week. It's been dry for a couple of days now, but I just haven't gotten over to it yet.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I discovered that the half-filled can of blue backdrop paint had dried up, which upset my sequence. I would have preferred to paint the backdrop first. My other can has about a half cup in it and is still good, but would only have lasted for a couple of brush strokes. I'll pick up another gallon today. I wonder about the sticker shock since I haven't bought any paint in 5-6 years! I did switch gears and spray painted the track and roadbed; and brush painted a light brown over much of the rest of the area. Didn't advance too far into the RH rear corner, since I don't know what I am going to do back there yet. Forgot to take any progress pictures, but I left the camera out there anyway!

Karl - My neighbor, Bubba, demonstrated one of those "jump boxes" to me last year. Amazing that they work so well.

I'm not sure about "HO Adventure", but some of his posts are hard to follow.

Everybody have a great Thursday., last day of winter!

Our Great Pyrenees deposits fur "icebergs" daily that float around the rooms. It's Spring and you can grab off handfuls of Winter coat. Daily, year round, vacuuming is part of my wife's routine.

This is not Sugar, but the results are the same.

My wife calls it pixie dust, I call it tumbleweeds. Vacuum the family room carpet and an hour later it needs it again. Bodhi is her medical alert service dog (I call him Point Break). He has a brother named Rowan (I was really hoping he would have been matched with her, I would have called him Mr. Bean). I have resigned myself over the last year since he was paired with her to the fact that I will never have a completely clean house or clothes again.

Good morning folks. It's 46°F at the local airport heading for 73°F this afternoon. I'll believe it when I feel it and see it on the thermometer.

The optic plate for my new Walther PDP arrived from Arkansas yesterday so I ordered the Holosun 407C X2-GR yesterday from Midway. I hate buying from China, but it is a much better value than the USA made Trijicon RMR. The Holosun has features that should have been standard on the Trijicon for the amount they charge for it. It's pretty much a no-brainer for reliability too with an enclosed battery case with a battery that can be changed while still installed on the pistol.

The Trijicon relies on the unit being installed for weather proofing, and the top of the slide is the battery door! Who thought that up? No solar charging either. Both machined from 7071 aluminum, virtually same dimensions and weight. Fisheyeing at the corners of the Trijicon window, none on flat glass on the Holosun. The Trijicon also lacks shake-awake technology and must be manually turned on each time. Carry some spare batteries for that one. 50,000 hour battery life on the Holosun. I might be dead before they are.

That was quite an eye-opening video I watched last night on the comparison of these two holo sights. I had no idea the Trijicon was such a POS feature-wise.

Grass is getting closer to being lowered, maybe by this weekend, and I need to check on my tulips and see if they survived that cold snap we had.

Have a great day folks! Servus!

My long haired German Shepherd Dog would produce that much during a shed every day. I swear that hair used to grow back overnight. The vaccume ran three times a day. I finally removed the carpeting in the living and dining room just to cut down on labor. It was easier to sweep up with a dust mop. Lisl's shed was the worst of all GSDs I've owned, but I love 'em.

Ater having six GSDs over the decades, the hair is what is really holding me back from another one. I'm at the point where I don't want to go through that a seventh time.
