Troy, I will remind you; there is another thing that Irishmen enjoy when drinking.

And it's not making love which is a before and after thing.
We all Know Padraig (Patrick) was not born in Ireland. He may have been a Roman citizen born somewhere in Roman-Britian sometime in the 4th Century. Not much is known for sure.
We do know he was captured by Irish Pirates and sent to Ireland as a slave. According to Patrick himself he lived and worked in Ireland for six years before escaping and returning to his home in Britian. After becoming a Cleric, he returned to Ireland to spread Christianity. The rest is History, with some folklore mixed in. There have never any been any native snakes in Ireland. But it makes for a good metaphor for driving out the human "snakes."
Saint Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland and beloved by most Irishmen, including me and many others, Irish or not. March 17 is the Catholic Feast Day of Saint Patrick, a solemn memorial if you will. It has evolved into a sometimes-wild celebration of all things Irish. Our brothers in the Eastern Church also consider Patrick a Saint, and they consider him an equal to the Apostles.
I ask you to please refrain from making disparaging remarks about the Saint I often call on in time of need. I never expect miracles when call on the Saints, but it does strengthen my faith.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day my friend!
