Happy St, Patrick's Day everyone!

Good Morning All!
35F @87% pretty much the same as yesterday, day before yesterday ...

Gawd. Haven't put shoes on for 2 days. All stuffed up. Chest is pretty clear, but sinus is not. Lots of shivers, ache's and pains. Only thing that does any good is the aspirin I am supposed to take, except it is 4 instead of one. Wearing 3 layers of stuff to keep warm and am sleeping more than awake. Makes for a fast day, slow night. Suspect another day of the same although I did feel a tad better yesterday. Will see what the day brings. Thanks Maria!

Legion had corn beef and cabbage on Saturday for all members; was closed to the public. No big deal for me as that is not one of my favorites. Angela reported that the place was packed and Maria decided not to go as she didn't want to leave me at home alone.

This started about 0600 yesterday am with small flakes, pix is at about 1000. Got to 40F and most went away.

That was weird. Screen locked up and could not move image to the 'insert image box'. Did insert into the body but could not make the 'image box' go away. After I closed my pc's 'pictures' window, I was able to type this....

L8r we hope.

Good morning from Wisconsin. A few wispy clouds in the darken sky seen only possible because the moon is low and very bright this morning. Sunrise is about 45 minutes away at 7:05am. Looking away from the moonlight it is really dark out there.

Weather. It will be a nice Spring Wisconsin day. 23f degrees real feel and actual temperature heading into the mid-50’s. There are high fire advisories from the NWS. We already need rain as the almost 1” officially received Sunday morning wasn’t enough.

St. Patrick’s Day. Just another Hallmark day but without the emphasis on card giving, mainly corn beef and beer. I am an American and even though Dad’s mom was born at Ellis Island after coming from Ireland and Mom’s dad was born on the boat coming from Itlay I don’t celebrate. I once told my paternal grandfather if Ireland was so great why didn’t he go back. I never had a use for my paternal grandparents

Seems this morning at 8 I’ll be calling my General Practitioner. My blood pressure is out of wrack. It’s always something medical the last few years. But BP is too dangerous to ignore.

Terry has recovered from the cataract surgery on the left eye. But she has been having issues adjusting to the new left eye and balancing the right eye. She was told that it maybe an issue and it is. Her restrictions end today but she did say Saturday unless it’s an emergency she won’t be driving until the right eye is fixed. That happens on 3/24, next Monday.

I spoke to our roofing and window guy Sunday afternoon when instead of returning my call he stopped bye. He gave me an estimate to replace the siding on the west wall of the house. Then gave me an estimate to re-do all the siding. We had thought about it but decided the windows and roof replacement last August was good enough. He will call sometime today as to when they can get materials and do the job. Terry wants a different color and some scheme adjustments if we re-do it all. Of course she does.

I stopped Sunday at the daughter and hubbies new house project. They took the poured foundation wall forms off on Thursday and Friday morning passed inspection. They then waterproofed the foundation and today they will insulate it after another morning time inspection. The soil will be moved back and everything inspected again, probably tomorrow. This house will be a metal framing instead of stick lumber. It’s still 16” on center for the walls but it’s supposed to be stronger and it definitely was less costly than lumber by almost $20,000. While that made no sense to me it is what it is. It’s North American made with the metal coils coming from Mexico, the fasteners are from Canada and the metal was formed in Sterling, Illinois. The framing contractor told me Friday weather depending he anticipated closing up the house in a couple weeks. He said his crews love the metal framing. The flat slab for the office/studio was also inspected and approved on Friday. That is a different contractor and I need to push him as the daughter’s family moves out on 4/3 and both of them need a place to work out of by 5/1. They were denied a building permit for the stables by the Town. While not a problem for the horses as they currently have a place, the reason it was denied seemed off. Too close to a protected water shed that we know nothing about! I will check into that this week. The fun trial and tribulations in building a home

Somewhere today I need 3 separate 1 hour spots to work on the coil car weathering and a diesel project. There are 5 covered hoppers and 3 diesels I inspected and cleaned last night after dinner. I will get those sprayed with a matte clear coat after masking the diesels.

Enjoy the day

Top of the morning to ya!

Back at work today, it's my 6 day work week, oh joy! The only consolation is nest week is a 4 day week.

Spent $643.00 at the optometrist Saturday WITH insurance. Plus he gave me a referral for another doctor due to elevated internal pressure in my eyes. He also muttered something about glaucoma and cataracts. The new eye glasses should be in next week. No line trifocals with transitions lenses.
Yesterdays NASCAR race was a good one. Lots of lead changes, few wrecks and a win for one of the oldest teams in the series. The Wood Brothers have been around since the 50's, and with Josh Berry driving, I look for them to grab some more wins.

Good Morning All. Happy St Patrick's Day. Clear and 46°, soon to be 84° later today. The high yesterday was officially 67°, (Weather Underground around the corner), but I wasn't home all day to check my own thermometer. Warm for a couple of days, cool front Wednesday and back into the upper 70's on Friday. Rain chances are pretty much nil for the next ten days. Time to set up the sprinkler for the garden.

Yesterday's trip to the birthday luncheon for my daughter was fun and successful. It was held at an eclectic restaurant that is usually only open for dinner. They open on Saturday and Sunday for brunch. I had what was referred to as corned beef hash, but was really diced corn beef and potatoes, not ground like Mom taught me. Eggs and Hollandaise sauce topped it off. I asked for sunny side up, but they were over-easy. Several others had the shrimp & grits while the grandkids had waffles and bacon. Mimosas flowed freely for the adults.

Corned beef is thawed and will go into the crockpot around 10:00 am. I'm doing coleslaw instead of cooked Cabbage, but I will add Carrots to the pot around 4:00 pm. No Potatoes here since we're both watching and counting carbs. I got my share at the brunch yesterday. Need to catch up with the laundry today; two loads since we skipped the bed linens yesterday. Outdoors I will be refurbishing the potting soil in my wife's planter box for flowers and some of my annual spices. This will be the 4th year for the 18" x 72" box. I used to till her an in-ground bed, but she couldn't/wouldn't keep the Bermuda Grass from encroaching, and I am not taking care of the damn flowers.

Didn't make it home early enough to get any time out in the train shed. Some days are just like that. I'll make it up this week.

Tom O - The paper mill looks like quite an ambitious project. I didn't really understand the drawing, but that doesn't matter. I look forward to seeing whatever progress that you are able to post.
Mike - The snow looks great, in your yard!
Len - I have many Accurail freight cars and I have also replaced all of the wheels and most of the couplers. Their trucks are top-notch among all of the different brands that I have. The newer ones have Accumate couplers which are working Kadee compatible ones. I have used many of them and they seem to hold up well. I remember the older fixed ones that were immediately discarded when I assembled the cars.
That's neat that you were able to find a model railroad club nearby. Will you be joining?
Shortwrench - I always move the little restaurant table kiosks aside and tell the server in advance that I am a paper only customer. Restaurants around here, at least the ones that we frequent, seem to strive on the good old fashioned service. I rarely see anyone use the electronic pay option. It has been removed from at least two places that used to have it. Maybe it's just our area that's like that. Both wife and I tip between 22% and 25%.
Marlin - Really nice looking diorama. Looks like a few back lots around here.
Todd - get well soon.

Everybody have a great St Patrick's Day. Imbibe at home!

Karl: Cataracts and glaucoma come with age - you can't get out if it. Type II diabetic makes it even worse ( me ). Cataracts are easy-peasy from what folks tell me as I am probably aligned for that in the new few years. Keeps checking those peepers every year to keep up with what is happening!

Replying to my own again.. Think I figured the weirdness out. If you click in the 'insert image box' It brings up some directory that usually needs changed. Find the pix you want then double-click on that and it appears in the thread. Don't know why I did it different today - blame the cold crap. I usually already have the wanted picture showing, then drag and drop.

Good afternoon all. A Happy St Patrick's Day to those who celebrate. Not me.
A early Afternoon Tea please, Flo.

I was out at the Travel Agents this morning to collect train tickets for a two day trip away in April.

Monday is taking younger granddaughter to Brownies, so a late evening return for me.

Before that I have to cook an Italian meal for dinner. (Granddaughter's request.)

Happy Welsh Saint masquerading as an Irish Saint Day!
Troy, I will remind you; there is another thing that Irishmen enjoy when drinking. ;) And it's not making love which is a before and after thing.

We all Know Padraig (Patrick) was not born in Ireland. He may have been a Roman citizen born somewhere in Roman-Britian sometime in the 4th Century. Not much is known for sure.

We do know he was captured by Irish Pirates and sent to Ireland as a slave. According to Patrick himself he lived and worked in Ireland for six years before escaping and returning to his home in Britian. After becoming a Cleric, he returned to Ireland to spread Christianity. The rest is History, with some folklore mixed in. There have never any been any native snakes in Ireland. But it makes for a good metaphor for driving out the human "snakes."

Saint Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland and beloved by most Irishmen, including me and many others, Irish or not. March 17 is the Catholic Feast Day of Saint Patrick, a solemn memorial if you will. It has evolved into a sometimes-wild celebration of all things Irish. Our brothers in the Eastern Church also consider Patrick a Saint, and they consider him an equal to the Apostles.

I ask you to please refrain from making disparaging remarks about the Saint I often call on in time of need. I never expect miracles when call on the Saints, but it does strengthen my faith.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day my friend!

And a Happy St. Gertrude's Day right back at you!

BTW: DO NOT go listen to the British History Podcast. He's got an episode early on St Patrick (The show is time-line sequential from the ice-age on). I'll leave it at that.

A Swedish friend posted that it's also St. Gertrude's day.

It's true, I don't much care for corned beef. Like my Irish grandmother born in County Cork Ireland I prefer bacon with my cabbage and potatoes.

Oddly enough my Hungarian wife and our Hungarian son both love corned beef! For them I have a 5.4lb Flat-Cut Corned Beef Bisquit Boiling in beer with traditional spices.

For me I will have cabbage and potatoes cooked with bacon.

Everybody will be happy!

Another one of those snakes? Thanks for the warning which I will heed.

Thanks, you have once again taught me something! I'll bet you didn't expect to give a lesson on this topic when you woke up this morning.

I have a book of the Feast Days of the Saints. I never bothered to look up March 17th.

Happy Saint Gertrude of Nivelles Day to you and all! And what is not to love about cats?

Good mornin' crew and a Happy St Patty's Day to all, Irish or not. It's clear, 44 and very windy here in Cheyenne. Wind chill 33 brought to you by winds from the W @ 20 gusting to 30. Yesterday we had some gust over 50. Yep, that's Cheyenne - it's cold and the wind blows... No precipitation forecast for today but colder temps, more wind and some snow forecast for tomorrow afternoon and evening.
Spent most of yesterday tubing (watching TV). F1 & NASCAR along with news & weather reports from the Great Tornado Outbreak of 2025. Looks like the southeastern states are still in for it...
Fiddled around a bit at the workbench but nothing constructive. As for the layout, looks like I'm going to shelve the Pine Flat theme. Other than a couple of FSM kits that I rustled up on eBay, I haven't got a lot invested in it. So much for my foray into fine scale modeling...
Along with St Patty's Day its also Meet the New GI Doc day. We'll see how that goes... Maybe stop off somewhere on the way home for a Reuben and a Guiness if we don't get blown away first...
Willie: I did get invited to come back and join the club. Everyone was very welcoming. Probably will...
'Bout it from here. Y'all have a good day and take care.
We'll leave y'all with this...
