My doctor wants me to drink more water which is not going to happen. She told me caffeinated drinks (coffee and tea) are diuretic and counterproductive.

My compromise was to make two gallons of tea with one gallon size tea bag. (Weak tea, sorry David) I add one pack of Lemonade Kool-Aid to each gallon and sweeten it with Stevia. Those two gallons last four days. In addition, I now only drink 10cups of home brewed Columbian coffee per day. The rest of the coffee I drink is decaffeinated instant coffee.

It sounds crazy when I see it in print but has been working, at least it was. My blood pressure is 86/51 now, but it is my bedtime.

Have an enjoyable evening Everybody!

For something completely different

I saw a cover of this on FB and looked for it on YT. Turns out the YT version is longer and was a cover so I went looking for the original. This is the original.

I read and my wife confirmed that the lyrics are mostly made up of Japanese tongue twisters. I'm amazed at how fast they sing them and ow smoothly they do it for being tongue twisters. I couldn't say, let alone sing, English tongue twisters like this.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those without fleets of vans

It’s Troy again.

Patio sitting has commenced. It’s 64 F degrees and sunny today.

Made a Costco run earlier. Spent almost $200. In that mix was a bottle of Kirkland Canadian Whisky. Gotta support our friends to the north. I’m not sure if Costco carries any Canadian whiskey other than Crown, and I know I can do better than that.

Also included was a bunch of beef. Got a Brisket that I’ll smoke either Wednesday or Thursday.

Tonight it’s one of the big Sirloin steaks from the 6 pack I purchased there. They’re usually about 12 oz each, and I’m good with a 6 oz. So we cut it half after I grill it.

Also, got the first outdoor walk in quite a while. And My sciatica is getting better. I can tell because I can now feel the pain of my plantar fascia grumping during the walk. Same leg for both, and I wasn’t getting a lot of sensory feedback from that foot. So I put KT tape on the foot, and I’ll be walking a lot more if the weather holds.

Wife has chopped gold and sweet taters in the oven to go with the steak.

Time to go flip the steak.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Gentlemen, much appreciated.

Louis
I am of the school of eating what I like when I like. Drink tea and coffee when I like. I have got through life this way and no doctor or dietician is going to change it. I do not exercise the way they want me to. I get up and down the stairs without any challenges and more times than most people.

Dawn wants weak tea. Good, I was born a Yorkshireman. (Look that up. A Yorkshireman looks after every penny.) One teabag makes two cups of tea.

Decided to add some removable bunks to my bulk head flat cars. The initial version is compatible with several Walthers mailing cars while the latest I-beam version still needs some work for thr GCS car but works on the Pullman. Interested in feedback. In my quick research bunks builds seem to vary a lot.

I'll be packing up my truck for the Stormville Airport tag sale in June. This time I'm going to bring some train stuff. I have what is pictured below plus 3 cars and a caboose to sell. Is this Hudson engine really worth $299.00 taken form an Ebay Ad. I was only thinking about selling it for about $50.00

Ask $299.00. You can always go down on the price if needed, but never up. 🤑

Good Morning All. Clear and 42°. No change in our weather forecast, except more days with the high expected in the 80's. No snow upcoming.

Nothing particularly special about yesterday, a couple of loads of laundry mainly. Daughter #2 and family out in Hawaii on vacation, found out that in the part of Hawaii that they are at, the only eating establishment that was open on Sunday was a McDonald's??? She thinks that it's because they are close to BYU–Hawaii. I told her that it is common but not mandatory for Mormon businesses to close on Sunday. My #1 daughter hasn't fared as well, the airline lost my granddaughter's bag on the way to Vegas. It contains her antibiotics and Heaven forbid, her cell phone.
Meanwhile many more Tomato plants have emerged from the soil in the pots I planted indoors. They'll get a chance at real sunlight for a short time today, and then 24/7 starting tomorrow and for the foreseeable future until garden planting time. So far, everything indoors and outside is doing what I expected except a short row of Lettuce planted a month ago that hasn't emerged. It is "iffy" anyway, since I used 4 year old seed. I have since planted another partial row with fresh seed that should emerge in the next day or so. I feel that if you don't lose something at each end of the season, then you aren't maximizing your garden space. Tried out an air-fryer method for cooking pork chops last night. Essentially the same as pan-frying them, but without the oil and grease. Yummy!
Should be dry enough today to resume mowing, there are a few places that already need it again. The usual dishwasher load awaits me this morning. I haven't been informed if there is a honey do list yet.
As usual, it was a short Sunday out in the train shed yesterday. Mounted that 2D background structure to the backdrop.

Not much to that.
I am starting another new structure, fresh out of the box (actually bag). Remember this previously built one that I upgraded last month?

It's time to build the structure that I have in mind for the left side, which will be on a street corner.

Stay tuned.

Louis - That's the best way to avoid having to set the clocks up or back. I have one attached to the back of the house like that. It's always on DST since I only use it in the Summer when in the pool.
For the most part, we have had good Amazon delivery drivers here. They either got rid of the one who didn't read the delivery instructions, or he realized that they were there. For some reason, we don't see female drivers out here, maybe there are none. I don't think that this is restricted.
Tom O - Best of luck for Terry and a successful surgery today.

It's Commonwealth Day in Canada and the UK, but I don't think that it is a holiday, at least not in Canada. It's also National Napping Day, probably since many missed an hour of sleep yesterday. Every day is National Napping Day for me. Used to take one at work every day during lunch.
Everyone have a magnificent Monday.
Yep. Thats my place ok.

John

Good evening, it's mostly cloudy and 68.
We had some weather earlier today, a few miles East of Orlando there was at least one tornado. No word yet of injuries, but a number of homes and other buildings were damaged, some seriously. The weather was at least 70 miles East of my location, though it has rained and been quite windy all day.

Good afternoon to all...............

Another day of not being able to access my e-mail.
AT&T technical support gives a number to call for help. Only thing is the phone you use to call them must be a NON AT&T phone.
The phone I use ( an AT&T cell ) cannot be used because AT&T always reads the number and will sent you to technical support for cell phone service NOT internet. My home phone and ISP is through the local phone company ( Syntrio ) here in west Texas. I only have local service on the home phone because if I add long distance, combined with my internet service, the bill would be around $130.00 a month.........plus 3 cents a minute on any long distance. My cell phone offers free long distance with unlimited text and messaging for only $27.00 per month.
The issue now is I have no way of contacting AT&T technical support because I don't have access to a NON AT&T phone. Screwed again because of AT&T.
So I guess I'll have to contact everyone who has my Yahoo e-mail address and give them my G-mail address. I figure about 40 to 60 hours or so for that new project since I have used Yahoo mail for over 35 years. Thanks AT&T, I didn't have anything else to do anyway.

More work on the layout today laying track.

USPS tracking shows a couple of my packages going back to Dallas bulk mail center, one of them for the third time, one from Kansas City Kansas mail center. One package shows it left Coppell Texas ( I have no clue why it was ever sent there ) mail center on March 8 and again it shows the same package left on March 9. Maybe that package is now in two parts. Go figure.

Maybe I should go to USPS post office and straighten out a few folks there then off to AT&T phone center and do the same there. At least in prison I won't need a cell phone or e-mail.

Everyone have a Grand Day..............John

Lot's has been happening and I'll make a full report soon.

However, I set up a small loop of track today. When I took down my previous "test track", which was a double tracked large loop on an 4x8 board with a spur and also a splitting of the tracks for a station platform, I did not take apart all the DCC stuff. I just unhooked the track wires.

I had been testing various bits so I still had my DR5000 command station, to DR5088RC RailCom block detection units, a DR5003 booster (one RailCom detector on each of the command station and booster), as well as a switch controller, a Digitrax LNWI WiThrottle unit hooked to the command station over LocoNet, and some other stuff... That's all still hooked together on a single board so I set up two blocks on my small oval and have one block hooked to the DR5000 and one to the DR5033 booster through the two DR5088RC detection units, etc.

I have the DR5000 in Z21 mode but for some reason I cannot get my Z21 apps to control anything. It doesn't respond. But if I run WiThrottle Lite app through the LNWI, I can control a train (across both blocks so I know it's working :) ), and I can use the DR5000 control utility on my PC connected by USB to control stuff as well. So I am still debugging why the Z21 mode is not working.

The whole purpose for this is I want to get back to working on my throttle app I started back in 2020--2022. I'm wanting to convert it from its existing Swift / UIKit / RxSwift base to the Apple reactive framework Combine / SwiftUI. I did a little development using SwiftUI / Combine last summer at work but not enough to have any sort of confidence in it, and I want to get really proficient. What better project to do it with than my throttle app and converting it (and releasing it! as a portfolio type app). Better than just useless mindless tutorials. I'll do those but then I will apply it to my own app.

These were the first trains in a long while I've had running...
