Good Morning All. Cloudy, misting and 42°. Radar loop indicates rain here for the last 2 hours, but there isn't any accumulation yet in the rain gauge. While the weather geeks are forecasting thunderstorms, it doesn't appear likely at this point. Maybe north of the Red River in Oklahoma, but here, one can never tell. High today of just 48°, and 60° tomorrow: then 76° on Monday and 82° on Tuesday. Yesterday was 82°. Quite a range.
Yesterday was spent mainly in the garden after some household chores. I did the final tilling of the east side of the garden where the Tomatoes, Peppers and Green Beans are going later in the Spring. I prepared the seedbed for the Green Peas which I pre-soaked and planted yesterday; and then I planted some Spinach plants that I bought from the nursery. Meanwhile some of the Radishes that I planted about 10 days ago, finally came up. I wasn't sure if I had planted too early or not. I expect to see some of the greens that I planted a week later, come up soon. Both are taking just a little longer than normal time to germinate. Parsnips and Carrots, neither of which I planted this year, can normally take up to a month!
Haven't started a fire yet, but I have a bin full of dry firewood ready for later this morning. Unofficially I have now gone through 3 face-cords of wood this Winter. That's just slightly below my average usage. I have that much already cut but not all stacked for next winter.
The raw weather will limit outdoor activities today, but I was prepared and have nothing pending. Later today, my #1 daughter and family will be here with the other granddog who we're dog-sitting for Spring break. The plan is to go out to eat at our favorite nearby Italian restaurant tonight; their choice since it's better than any that are near them in North Dallas.
The great weather yesterday limited my time out in the train shed considerably. But since it is right next to the garden, I stopped in occasionally to take a break. About all that I really got done was to paint all of the rest of the window frames gray.
Some of the windows also got the clear styrene installed, 5 of 17. I should get further along today.
David -
The Weather Guessers have got it right today! Rain. Rain. Rain.
Seems that they could predict that every day and be right more times than not. I realize that you are used to it raining a lot, but I couldn't exist with it. I gotta have sunshine!
Tom O - Great to read that the physical went well. Re: The penalty box door. My opinion is that they should be asking parents, not grandparents to man it.
Jay - Good luck at the Discgolf tourney, although it's probably going to be over by the time that you read this.
It's now raining enough for drips off the roofs, so there might be something in the gauge. Everybody have a great Saturday.
