I know a few of you have posted my package is arriving late messages here. My package arrived only 29 miles from here 5 days ago and is still not out for delivery. Anyone here know what's going on with that?

I had to sign for some packages yesterday. I spoke to my delivery person and I asked about the slow downs. He said in Wisconsin they have not hired anyone since November to replace retirees but the big thing here is Amazon. Anything under 3# Amazon has been giving to the USPS for final delivery and it’s backed up lots of USPS distribution centers.

It’s only going to get worst unless the tariffs slow things down

Tom I have a lot of under 3lbs packages to be delivered so I'll be waiting for a while to receive them.

I made a purchase a couple of weeks ago, and the seller got it in the mail the next day. It disappeared for ten days, then showed up in my mailbox yesterday.

I'll spare ya all of the picture of the same breakfast order or the local weather condition that nobody cares about.
I took the Goldwing out yesterday for a quick run up to the local grocery store for a couple items. Halfway there I was hurting cold. Dang, 43 degrees is much colder at 45 mph. Then, I had to ride back home. Only about two miles, but dang, that hurt.
My Crew will be participating in the Boy Scout train show this weekend at a high school in Woodbridge, VA. There will be train activities in quite a few of the classrooms as well as the large modular displays in the gymnasium.
This is our layout plan for the show.

Good Morning All. Happy Mardi Gras Day. It's raining here with a temperature reading now of 50°. Two hours ago, it was 67° and then the rains came. One brief heavy thunderstorm and steady light rain since then. Not much though, there's just a shade above .6" in the gauge. Winds though were near 40mph and there was a lot of hail. Clear colder nights for a couple of days and then back to the roller-coaster Spring weather. Next rain maybe Saturday.

Yesterday was cloudy all day, but mild so I did a bit more mowing, this time between the train shed and the house, and some around the pond. Noted that I need to clear some branches from around the pond in order to mow there.

Today will start with a not so happy mission. Recall that my wife took the new car to the dealer's on Saturday for license and some issues that we had discovered. She had an appointment! Turns out that they had no service people there and she had to leave the car and take a loaner. If it had just been the license plates, the salesman would have done it. They looked at it yesterday and found a faulty sensor somewhere to replace. They got the part and called at 4:00 to tell us it was ready. We're not driving to Dallas in rush hour to get it. Besides the extra trip that irks me; after my wife had driven about 15 miles, she discovered that there wasn't enough gas in the car to get her home, so a stop was needed to get some. Smart wife just put in 6 gallons instead of filling it up. I'm going with her this time. The dealership is just a few miles from Discount Model Railroad and I have a gift certificate from Christmas.

I decided to take a day off from projects out in the train shed yesterday and just ran trains. I ended up doing a coupler conversion project on a couple of ScaleTrains engines any way. When I received them, I automatically changed the factory ones for KD #148's. However I was having slight clearance issues because of the snow plows, so I changed them to long-shaft #146 whisker couplers. Easy enough.
In previous posts, I mentioned my figure stash. I paint them as a fill-in project all of the time and I have amassed quite a few. I've probably got enough situations for nearly everyone, just have to get to it. Here is the plastic case that I got from Hobby Lobby many years ago that easily sorts and stores them.

I did pick out another project to do next, but the pictures are too crappy to post.

Patrick - I always looked forward to a day without meetings when working. Now that I am retired, I look forward to a week without medical appointments for either of us.
Mac - All of that catenary looks like an electrician's nightmare!
Kirk - I think that's who you are. My pin vises all came from Micro-Mark and I've had 2 of them for over 30 years. I get a lot of use out of them. All mine have the collet.
Swal - They closed all of the "nut houses" here as well, and all of the residents moved to NY or CA.
Marlin - Cool about the Asparagus crowns. We had ours for over 35 years before they bit the dust. Chose not to replant. Where about are you located for this early visit from Mother Nature?

Everyone have a great Tuesday.

Maybe Willie can help me out with this one. I downloaded Turbo Tax and one of the questions they asked was did you pass away before filing your 2024 tax. They didn't ask if myself or my wife passed away which they should have asked. She's on the tax form to. I guess I have to call them to find out what's up with that. Why didn't you ask if you or your wife passed away last year? That would have been the correct question to ask.

Good mornin' y'all from a mostly cloudy Cheyenne. It's 30 with a wind chill of 12. Winds NNW @ 22 with gusts to 35mph. High today of 34, low tonight of 18. Intermittent snow until later tonight. Accumulations of 3-6" possible.
Dr appts went well yesterday, no surprises, adjusted my meds, etc. Getting better but still not back to anywhere near 100%. Roads are slick, so stay home day. Probably drag a couple more boxes in from the garage and unpack those. Maybe get down to some boxes with train stuff in them later in the week.
It's Fat Tuesday... been a long time since I've been to Mardi Gras, maybe sometime in the 70s. Not real big on large, crazy crowds. I do like the food and drink though.
That's about it from here. Y'all have a good day and take care.

Good morning, all! Raining and windy. Some forecasters saying we could see gusts to 50 mph later this afternoon.

I spent 3 hrs. yesterday changing out the start solenoid on the zero turn. I also found that I can no longer squat and kneel for 3 hrs.

My pin vise came as a gift. It came with an assortment of tweezers, sanding sticks and a battery operated " dremel". I'm pretty sure all of it is from China, but that said everything seems to work.

It's FedEx too! Ordered a faucet handle from Chino, CA. Destination Wyoming. Left Chino, 2 stops in Utah, jumps over Wyoming to Nebraska, Illinois, Maryland. Then back to Illinois, Nebraska jumps Wyoming again to Utah. 11 days, over 4,700 miles. Reached out to seller and FedEx. Seller blames FedEx, FedEx doesn't respond. $20 to take my faucet handle on a cross country tour.

Well howdy there internet peeps, and those stuck in a squat.

It's Troy again.

As for Nat'l Park passes, aren't there also free senior passes? Age 65 on?

I just turned 60 and have yet to find a senior discount or deal I'm thrilled with. But AARP sure wants to give me a cheap-ass cooler bag so they can send me even more mail about buying health insurance.

Editing the mini-book today. Still working on the webstore. Perhaps I'll get to paint some little toy soldiers later today.

I'd post a pic, but the only ones on my desktop right now are poly-tics related. No need for those here. I like the quiet without them.

Good evening all. A pot of tea please, Flo. I am thirsty.
Back from the hospital minus more blood. Had another ECG. I have to have another operation sometime this month and be on long term antibiotics.

Are you dead certain about that?

Catenary is actually pretty simple to figure out once you know what each wire does. Some of it is quite pretty, like the Pennsylvania Railroad catenary designed originaly by Westinghouse. Original New Haven catenary was probably the most intricate one of all types used on the continent. The circut breaker bridges being a real head scratcher for those not associated with it.

Good Afternoon All. Windy and more windy, between 22 mph and 30 mph steadily. Apparently they were much worse last night in the part of Dallas County (northern suburbs) that we were in today. My #1 daughter's fence along with those of many neighbors were blown asunder... they couldn't get out because their gate was blocking the alley. Other daughter still has no power, it's out all over the place. There are reports of 70 mph winds in both of their neighborhoods. No issues at the car dealership, but when I arrived at Discount Model Railroads, there was a sign on the door indicating that they were closed due to no power. So we went to Trader Joe's and spent money there. Called Discount from TJ's parking lot when we were finished, and they just got their power back on and were now open. Went back and used my gift certificate plus some. Complete report tomorrow.
