Good Morning All. Happy Mardi Gras Day. It's raining here with a temperature reading now of 50°. Two hours ago, it was 67° and then the rains came. One brief heavy thunderstorm and steady light rain since then. Not much though, there's just a shade above .6" in the gauge. Winds though were near 40mph and there was a lot of hail. Clear colder nights for a couple of days and then back to the roller-coaster Spring weather. Next rain maybe Saturday.
Yesterday was cloudy all day, but mild so I did a bit more mowing, this time between the train shed and the house, and some around the pond. Noted that I need to clear some branches from around the pond in order to mow there.
Today will start with a not so happy mission. Recall that my wife took the new car to the dealer's on Saturday for license and some issues that we had discovered. She had an appointment! Turns out that they had no service people there and she had to leave the car and take a loaner. If it had just been the license plates, the salesman would have done it. They looked at it yesterday and found a faulty sensor somewhere to replace. They got the part and called at 4:00 to tell us it was ready. We're not driving to Dallas in rush hour to get it. Besides the extra trip that irks me; after my wife had driven about 15 miles, she discovered that there wasn't enough gas in the car to get her home, so a stop was needed to get some. Smart wife just put in 6 gallons instead of filling it up. I'm going with her this time. The dealership is just a few miles from Discount Model Railroad and I have a gift certificate from Christmas.
I decided to take a day off from projects out in the train shed yesterday and just ran trains. I ended up doing a coupler conversion project on a couple of ScaleTrains engines any way. When I received them, I automatically changed the factory ones for KD #148's. However I was having slight clearance issues because of the snow plows, so I changed them to long-shaft #146 whisker couplers. Easy enough.
In previous posts, I mentioned my figure stash. I paint them as a fill-in project all of the time and I have amassed quite a few. I've probably got enough situations for nearly everyone, just have to get to it. Here is the plastic case that I got from Hobby Lobby many years ago that easily sorts and stores them.

I did pick out another project to do next, but the pictures are too crappy to post.
Patrick - I always looked forward to a day without meetings when working. Now that I am retired, I look forward to a week without medical appointments for either of us.
Mac - All of that catenary looks like an electrician's nightmare!
Kirk - I think that's who you are. My pin vises all came from Micro-Mark and I've had 2 of them for over 30 years. I get a lot of use out of them. All mine have the collet.
Swal - They closed all of the "nut houses" here as well, and all of the residents moved to NY or CA.
Marlin - Cool about the Asparagus crowns. We had ours for over 35 years before they bit the dust. Chose not to replant. Where about are you located for this early visit from Mother Nature?
Everyone have a great Tuesday.
