Good morning, cold and sunny. Back to work after a busy weekend. Yesterday i went to Joysey to pretty large train show in Clark. On the way back i stopped over in Dover, since i've never been there. Dover is on former Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (their Mainline), and this is where electric traction ends. Lackawanna electrified the Dover line back in 1930 and entire line still sports original steel catenary columns and bridges. Originally electrified with 3000V DC, the line voltage was changed in mid 1980s to 25KV AC, the original catenary support structures still standing though. Easy access to the storage yard and low sun provided nice lighting conditions. One of three visible ALP46s in the storage yard:

Diesel is a classic GP40PH-2 in "Disco" stripes and it even has Lady Liberty on the side of cab:

Today on the way to NYC, this classic Mercedes E series was keeping me company from Staten Island to Brooklyn:

It's nice to see such machine in mint condition doing what it was built to do.

Good morning gang!

27° under clear skies, heading to 41°. Spent yesterday feeling like crap and coughing like I was still a smoker. if I wasn't coughing I was sleeping. Started to watch the NASCAR race. Fell asleep during the pre-race ceremonies and woke up with 18 laps to go. Made it to work today, we'll see what the day brings.

Good morning from my little part of Wisconsin. 32f degrees at wake up 90 minutes ago. Heading to the mid 50’s.

Troy, up in North Central Wisconsin our Pizza Huts were all sit down and served some fine pizzas. Here in So. Central Wisconsin the PH are all take out and the pizza isn’t worth buying. Your pizza looks great!

Some commission work this morning and then hopefully some layout time. I have 1 Christmas gift certificate left for the really LHS. The 4 miles away one, not Hiawatha at 70 miles! Yep, I have a list.

Enjoy the day

Morning all,

Cloudy and 40° with rain expected overnight.

Today is the only day without a meeting of some sort expected. Part of our vacation plans involve going to the Grand Canyon, so in looking up what it costs to get in, I find there is a permanent free pass for Veterans, and it can be gotten at a fairly local place in Wichita. Nice that I don't have to put my info on the internet and hope I have the right info.

First call of the day...BBL
Hate to break it to you, but all your stuff is already on the internet and you're probably on a couple of .gov lists.:(

Patrick: Yup, permanent free pass for vets. You can get them at the entry guard shack at almost all the National Parks. Take a DD214 with.

Good Morning All. Cloudy, wet and 55°. The showers showed up last evening around 8:00 as predicted. Wasn't much, lasted for about 15 minutes but it was a heavy outburst that left .25" in the gauge quickly. Then it was gone. Expecting the same thing again around dawn tomorrow.Spring-like weather for a while, some warm days, some cool days. A couple of nights in the upper-30's scattered here and there; a couple of days in the upper-70's mixed in as well.

Tinnitus is up a notch today. It's always present but it is especially loud this morning.
Since it didn't rain much and we have a stiff SW wind this morning, things should dry out pretty quickly in the yard. I hope so, since I only have a half day supply of dry firewood in the house and I will need a fire tomorrow. Slight oversight on my part.

Yesterday, I did get the rest of the garden tilled. Half of the remainder is at the full 9" depth, while the rest is at 5". I want to spread some more wood chips and compost on the last part before going to maximum depth. Onion plants are all looking good. It's too soon for any of the seeds that I planted last week to have fully germinated/sprouted. I gave the weedeater a little more running time yesterday before putting it under shelter. I hate that necessary evil. I got started on another outside project that got postponed from last spring due to the tornado clean-up. I need to redo a 200' drainage swale between the house and train shed, that runs to the drainage ditch alongside the road. All that I did yesterday was observe and mark the line. I originally put it in in the early 80's and redid it in the mid 00's. It will require running the tiller back and forth at a depth of 2"-3" and raking all of the dirt to the side, thus forming a slight levee that will keep the front yard from flooding as much as it has recently.

As is usual on Sunday, I didn't spend much time out in the train shed yesterday. But it was enough to work on the interior scene for Gus's Bar and Grill. The 5th picture in yesterday's post shows the partial floor that I installed in the structure already. In the past, I have painstakingly modeled scenes inside, cramming my fat fingers and hands in there. I tried a new (to me) approach this time. I am building the scene on a thin piece of styrene and I will then insert it into place.

Started with a table and two patrons and then after painting, I added a waitress and a couple of beverages in addition to the one that the gentleman on the left is already holding.

I have also added another patron to the outside, heading into a stiff wind created by the alley between this structure and the adjacent one.

A black background has been added; lighting will come later.

You may have noticed the Behr logo on the inside. I pick up paint sample cards whenever I remember when I visit Home Depot, and use them on the inside of some of my structures.

These can be temporary or permanent, but the best thing is that they are free.

Swal - I've always been happy with all of the products that I have bought from WeHonest.
The females on my layout like a good bar just as much as the males.
Len - It's good to read that you finally got your stuff from the movers. Now let's see some layout action.
Karl - Stuff finally got to you. Jello-shots made with Twisted Tea might have been a better choice.;)

Everyone have a fine Monday, even if you are at work.

Good mornin' y'all. Its 47 and partly cloudy in Cheyenne this am. High for today 49, low tonight 27. Winds from N@7, gusts to 8. Winter storm watch in effect later today and through Tuesday. Accumulations of 3"-6" expected.
Two doctor appts today; cardiologist and GI doc. Probably spend remainder of the day working on unpacking stuff.
Y'all have a good day and take care.

[Edit] We went to Glacier a few months back. Maria had 'Veteran' on her DL, so DD214 was not needed. There was a big line of cars of which we waited until we got to the gate. Asked about the new free pass - took the gate girl less than 5 minutes to print Maria's new free pass.

New York use to lock up the nuts but now they consider these people as normal. They closed all the nut houses and now they just roam the streets. Some of the not so bad ones use to caddy for us at the Harel Valley Golf Club in Wingdale NY. There were 25 3 story building full of crazy people housed there and that was just one of the many nut houses in NY.

Good mid-morning all!

Kind of a crappy, windy, cloudy day. The temps are fairly nice at 45F. Supposed to reach mid 50s later.

Had to drop my car off at the dealer this morning for oil change, tires, and an alignment. Got a loaner car to run around and do some errands this morning, thus the late check-in. They estimated early afternoon for it to be ready.

Other than that, not much else going on.

Have a safe day everyone!

Willie.................

I noticed the three "gals" in front of Gus's Bar and Grill are all blondes.
Reminds me of the joke : How many blondes does it take to screw in a light bulb? One to hold the bulb and two to turn the ladder.

Oh well................everyone have a great day.

John
