Good Morning All. Cloudy, wet and 55°. The showers showed up last evening around 8:00 as predicted. Wasn't much, lasted for about 15 minutes but it was a heavy outburst that left .25" in the gauge quickly. Then it was gone. Expecting the same thing again around dawn tomorrow.Spring-like weather for a while, some warm days, some cool days. A couple of nights in the upper-30's scattered here and there; a couple of days in the upper-70's mixed in as well.
Tinnitus is up a notch today. It's always present but it is especially loud this morning.
Since it didn't rain much and we have a stiff SW wind this morning, things should dry out pretty quickly in the yard. I hope so, since I only have a half day supply of dry firewood in the house and I will need a fire tomorrow. Slight oversight on my part.
Yesterday, I did get the rest of the garden tilled. Half of the remainder is at the full 9" depth, while the rest is at 5". I want to spread some more wood chips and compost on the last part before going to maximum depth. Onion plants are all looking good. It's too soon for any of the seeds that I planted last week to have fully germinated/sprouted. I gave the weedeater a little more running time yesterday before putting it under shelter. I hate that necessary evil. I got started on another outside project that got postponed from last spring due to the tornado clean-up. I need to redo a 200' drainage swale between the house and train shed, that runs to the drainage ditch alongside the road. All that I did yesterday was observe and mark the line. I originally put it in in the early 80's and redid it in the mid 00's. It will require running the tiller back and forth at a depth of 2"-3" and raking all of the dirt to the side, thus forming a slight levee that will keep the front yard from flooding as much as it has recently.
As is usual on Sunday, I didn't spend much time out in the train shed yesterday. But it was enough to work on the interior scene for Gus's Bar and Grill. The 5th picture in yesterday's post shows the partial floor that I installed in the structure already. In the past, I have painstakingly modeled scenes inside, cramming my fat fingers and hands in there. I tried a new (to me) approach this time. I am building the scene on a thin piece of styrene and I will then insert it into place.
Started with a table and two patrons and then after painting, I added a waitress and a couple of beverages in addition to the one that the gentleman on the left is already holding.
I have also added another patron to the outside, heading into a stiff wind created by the alley between this structure and the adjacent one.
A black background has been added; lighting will come later.
You may have noticed the Behr logo on the inside. I pick up paint sample cards whenever I remember when I visit Home Depot, and use them on the inside of some of my structures.
These can be temporary or permanent, but the best thing is that they are free.
Swal - I've always been happy with all of the products that I have bought from WeHonest.
The females on my layout like a good bar just as much as the males.
Len - It's good to read that you finally got your stuff from the movers. Now let's see some layout action.
Karl - Stuff finally got to you. Jello-shots made with Twisted Tea might have been a better choice.
Everyone have a fine Monday, even if you are at work.
