Well, howdy there internet pickles and peoples

It's troy again... Warming up, and WINDY today. Not because of me nor what I ate.

If you want to embalm yourself, eat a lot of pickles, and any other fermented veggies. Since vinegar is the primary component, and was a big part of mummification, you should be well on your way.

I got up early, 2:30 ish, with a headache. I hit the recliner and waited on the ibuprofen to do it's thing. Trying to snooze I had an epiphany about the author biz. My sales have tanked the last week or so. I started thinking in that half-aware/half-asleep phase and remembered that I'd just upped the prices of my e-books. Again... my goal was to get to 5.99 per ebook so the bundle specials would look even better on my direct store site.

But, I forgot that over half of the dollars in are coming from the big ebook retailers.

So I got up at 5am and spent the next two hours going through four online portals, and changing the prices on 19 books on each. Now I have to wait to see where I made mistakes. I'm never good at long bouts of attention to minutiae, and 5 am isn't the best time to start one.

In other news, I've been wanting to get a better ventilation system in the workshop for the 3D resin printer. So, I got this rigged up.
Hood.jpg

I'll add a divider (probably plexi) to the right of the Elegoo Black Printer, so help the hood pull fumes up before the escape into the rest of the basement.

I put a backdraft damper on the left (outflow) end of the Black inline Vent fan. That way the spray booth doesn't blow backwards down the pipe into the 3D printer area. Yes, I turned the inline fan on max and ran outside to check the discharge vent. Works fine, so I know I put the damper in the correct orientation. :)

Waiting on laundry to finish. Once it's out and folded, the cat and I are taking a nap.

In the meantime, I'll have a plate of bacon, just like Mike. Perhaps his love of Bacon is where his internet handle/username comes from???

I consume hardly any chocolate because of the lead warning issued lately.
I'm dumb enough already without more lead in my system.

Consumer Reports did a piece on that last year. Some products are way better than others. Fortunately for us, Ghirardelli dark chocolate has a low heavy metals content. Not that we consume any of that-----

Good evening all. It is still raining!

I have been waiting for some special edition railway freight wagons. They have just arrived. 😀 Two are Leeds, Scarcroft & Wetherby Railway wagons (originals built for LSWR in1901) and a Hilliers Bacon & Cooked Meats boxvan (original built for the company in 1909).
Shall post pictures later.

So, technically, this is not true. Vinegar is not part of fermented veggies. Vinegar is used instead of fermenting to make pickles or pickeled vegetables. If you buy real fermented pickles, there is no vinegar. Its all the fermented bacteria etc.

Fortunately, I eat neither of them... I like my veggies crispy!
real fermented pickles are crispy when fresh (not after a year of sitting in the bag). I bought a bunch of fermented pickled vegetables (cucumber pickles, olives, sauer kraut, and kimchi) last year from a place called Pickle My Olive.

The food was really good but expensive (so have not yet reordered). When we first bought them the pickled cucumbers were really crispy and good. A couple days ago the wife found one of the bags in the back of the refrigerator and there was one pickled cucumber left. It has been there since last spring or so. It was still good but rather not crisp and not so great.

Naturally fermented vegetables are really healthy for you.

We may be getting enough preservatives that we can skip embalming later.;)
You could be more right than you know.

When my oldest daughter was in the Army stationed at a medical facility in Vilseck, Germany she asked her Colonel "My dad eats lots of cured meats, is it safe?" His answer was "your dad's body will last much longer than most after he dies, but I doubt the cured meat will do him much harm."

Afternoon All,

Currently in the 60's sitting in my living room with Roxie the skunk sleeping on me. I have no motivation to do anything today, but I did do a couple of chores. The rash that I have got significantly worse last night (spreading and itching) so that at 1:30 am I went to the ER because I couldn't stop scratching. I wanted to rip my skin off it was so bad. I received IV Benadryl (allergic reaction dose), Solumedrol and Famotidine (Pepcid). I was there for 2 hours. After getting home the Benadryl knocked me out quickly and I slept until 7:30 AM. Right now, I'm taking the same three meds in pill form. I still have the rash, but the itching is minor.

The good news is that I have had 2 days and nights of no tooth pain. Two steps forward and one step back.

Smudge- Don't feel bad. BLI is coming out with a Pennsy B6b (0-6-0). At first, I thought hell yeah, but now I'm thinking I have to many locos already.

Troy- Very cool photos of the wreck. Nice job on the vent system.

Mac- Great story.

rgeiter- Yeah, our critters sleep strangely also.

David- The first thing I thought was that it was an FM H10-44 (wrong again).

Karl- Nice layout scene. That meme is wrong on so many levels.

Bill- Good photo.

Willie- I look forward to seeing what you do with the kit.

Possum- Great video. It's like the graveyard of planes.

Grizzled- Interesting Blue Box artwork. I loved looking at that artwork as a kid.

I hope everyone has a good night.

You know, the media has to put a scare in you folks on the hill too! 🤣
