I used to have to grind the Trifexis tablet for Lisl in a mortar and pestle and sprinkle it into a microwave Stouffer's mac & cheese side dish. It had to be in some type of food that I knew she would like, and, she had never tasted before without the drug in it.

I made the mistake of giving her some leftover Dinty Moore beef stew that I couldn't finish, before remembering that is what I used to put the Trifexis in. After she had it without the Trifexis, she'd never touch it again with the Trifexis in it.

That dog had a great nose.

True that. My dog used to find it all the time. They finally wised up and made the meds taste good, so my last dog loved eating them.
Our dog wont take meds for nothing. We tried everything. Amazing how they can eat a piece of lunch meat with a pill in it and chew around it
and spit the pill out.

I have to resort to the pry the mouth open and place it in the back of the throat and hold the snout till she swallows it.

Yea its quite the saga!

Well, howdy there internet peeps!

It's Troy again.

I was farting around with the AI this morning, using some of my paid for credits, and decided to start an ancestry search.

Seems I'm Canadian, eh!

2x Great Grandfather on my mother's side emigrated to the US, from what is now Ontario, back in the 1800s

Since I typically wear a CANADA ball cap I purchased at Niagara Falls (because it was big enough to fit my fat head) I often get asked, are you Canadian?

Now I can say, yes... by way of great great grandpa!

I was able to look at the error log for one of our sister forums, and I found over 10,000 errors, mostly "max users exceeded".
Terry: Is this the 1st time any error logs have been looked at? For the max user item - probably a setting in the forum setup that should be able to be raised; maybe only somewhat though.

While ima at it - if the forum(s) are using MySql - there are a bunch of maintenance items that can be thrown in the mix - 'Analyze Table', 'Check Table', 'Repair Table' and 'Optimize Table'. Views have 'Check View' and 'Repair View' if those are used. What happens is tables or views get zombies in them which causes the MySql engine to work more. With the amount of hits this forum gets ... lot more work for the engine. Others ( PostgreSQL, Oracle, M$Sql are the top with MySql #2 ) .. these all have some sort of maintenance that can be done. More problems crop up with Wide and Long tables than the narrower and shorter tables. Pictures in the database are one of those wide/long problems. You probably can't do anything about that - if ya can - links to pix in the filesystem in the DB instead of the actual pix.

I had been thinking about this since the time a few days ago I was the only one online with 300+ guests and the forum took a crap with database errors.

I suspect that this forum has many tables - might be time to declare a 'work window' and put it down for maintenance for a few hours running table/view checks and go from there.....

If you know - what is the hardware: server, memory, disk space, WAN connection. Software: OS and RDBMS?

Good morning all!

Currently a humid 70F under mostly sunny skies. High is supposed to be around 80F. Heat starts building tomorrow when we will
have a stretch of 8 or so days in the low to mid 90s.

Today is the last day of drivers Ed for my daughter. All she had to do was show up and take the final exam and they were free to go.
I got home for 15 miniutes and got the text to come back. If I would of known that I would of just hung out in the parking lot and
watched a YT video.

Usual small things around the house this morning. Other than that not much else going on at the moment.

Have a safe day everyone!

74°F/70°F this morning. Pretty soupy outside currently, but the temp isn't bad so far. Expected high of 86°F and if that dewpoint doesn't fall, the A/C might be started. Rain expected tonight into tomorrow, and then the heat is on starting Sunday with low to mid-90°s for the next eight days like Mike is going to be having.

Both cotton polos that shrunk in the wash are now back to a medium size. I just needed to stretch them while they were wet and dry them flat on a towel. Those shirts were not cheap to purchase and I didn't want them just hanging in the closet forever.

Trains ran very well the other day when I got to spend a few hours in the train room. I do wish I had room for further expansion, but without knocking out a wall, my layout is at its limit now.

If it's not too miserable outside today, I plan on spending some time in the backyard with Willow.

Have a great Thursday and lets be careful out there!

Servus!

Good morning to the regulars, newbies and of course our 1732 bot friends! If they stay under 5000 and I know I look after getting in the forum speed seems ok anything over that I presume is the issue???

Venezuela had 2 quakes over night killing a known 160 already. St. Louis on the Madrid fault is coming…

It’s 63 and it heading to a clear day in the mid-70’s. The severe storms wit predictive radar showing going right through our area swerved and missed. Lots of damage 10 miles west of us, basically the same severe weather track of earlier this week

Breakfast out somewhere today. Since it’s the last Thursday of the month it will be somewhere new to us within a 90 minute drive.

I asked my pharmacy on Monday about getting my meds early for our trip starting the 30th. 1/2 what I take would be out before we return. Yesterday at 3 I was told they all were ready! I will head there around 10 when they open

Is my friend’s newly built layout ready for the invitational Friday, Sat. and Sunday? We shall see! It has minor issues that I hope will get solved before 9 on Saturday, his 1st session

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 74° out there this morning. If the NWS is correct, we're in our 75°-95° early summer mode for a while now. Looks like the wet season is over until October.

The yard dried out enough for me to mow the south part and the back yard between the house and pool. Trash removal, composting and general clean up were the order of the day yesterday. Today it's the weekly grocery trek, with known stops included for pool chlorine and the pharmacy. The dishwasher awaits me also.

Out in the train shed yesterday, enjoyment continued. Got that sidewalk that I posted about yesterday, painted and installed. Also got the grade crossing parts painted. I also did some other minor prep work on some details to be installed. Didn't bother with pictures yet, because I knew that I would be limited in time this morning and I didn't want to fight the forum to upload them. I'll get to them later.

Chet - There's a lot of familiar structures in your recent postings. ;) Thanks again for the opportunity to get some of them out of your way.
Chad -
If you’re paying some sort of equipment rental fee make sure any battery related one gets removed from the bill.
Not here. The ONT still has to be used, just without the battery. The whole fiber-optic network, was installed with the help of a government grant for rural service, passed by Congress during the GWB years, although not actually installed until 2010. There was no cost to me for any of it, as it replaced my still intact landline. Neighbors who ditched their landlines for exclusive cell service had to pay to have it installed.
Safe travels for your daughter's group.
Todd - Sorry, but your post this morning made no sense to me...too much "geek".

Everybody have a terrific Thursday.

Ya, geek is what I do. Pretty simple in reality - everything needs maintenance: Cars, Trucks, Wives ( sometime high maintenance ) and especially computer stuff. Windoz for example has drive optimization/defrag that speeds stuff up when run every month or so. If you choose to optimize your windoz box, right click on the drive in the 'files' folder: which should be in task bar, select properties, tools and optimize - M$ lies with the statement that comes up about auto optimizing on some 'cadence'. Depending on how long it has been - might take quite some time - go have beer(s). You will see a performance boost.

Databases and filesystems also need timely maintenance; although I have not seen any filesystem problems with Linux over the 30 year span of using it; windoz on the other hand....

Hope that helps!

Morning All! 65 in the Brew City today under mostly sunny skies. Maybe some rain around lunch time, we'll see. I've been working in the garage the past couple of days, organizing, and purging junk. It's shaping up. The new tool box swallowed everything up nicely, and I even have a little room left in case I get the tool bug again. I don't use them as much as I used to, but it's nice that they're there when you need 'em! The wife wants to have the garage insulated and drywalled. Builders grade construction up here means bare studs in the garage. It's not a bad idea to do that, so we have to get rid of the junk you accumulate over decades. Lots of culling is in the future! Found a couple things that had been missing for years. After that she wants to purge the basement. I think we'll hire that done.

Kato makes easement track.

I don’t remember seeing this in N (though they probably have it). I’ve bought almost all my N Unitrack in Japan. Thanks.
