Good Afternoon All. Still 87° under clear skies.
Bad timing today, as the fellow who farms to the south of me decided that today was the right time to combine his amber waves of grain. Or maybe it was his hired hands who decided. The brisk 15mph wind brought a few bushels of wheat chaff over and dumped it into the pool. Skimmer was working overtime as was I using the net to keep it clear. Lots of dust as well, which will take a day or two of vacuuming (mechanical) to clear up! It was a good harvest, as the 18-wheeler made two trips out.

Later.

Watching Ryan Hall y'all weather channel. Looks like tornados from S. Wisconsin, through Illinois and now into west-central Indiana.

take shelter if they come towards your area.

Interesting that one of the storm chasers had a live stream going, while parked, and an official local weather observer approached him and said he's watching Ryan Hall Y'all, and the storm chaser should listen.

Yeah dude, we're live on his channel right now!

Good evening. Round 3 of the storms have just passed very loudly through our neighborhood. Lots of Lightning and thunder with a good amount of rain. It’s still drizzling. The winds all day have been high!

Round 1 dropped 3/4” in the brief travel through the area. Round 2 around 3pm was 1/2” in the rain gauge. The rains didn’t stay long but the winds and lightning are still ongoing. I’ll go out and check the rain gauge later as we have 1 more round around 8:30pm per radar and total it up!

Winds are currently 50 mph with gusts to 70

Ran the 2 new slots cars with the grandson this afternoon. Out of the box and then running them is a pretty good improvement from years ago when u had to basically pull the car apart as they were so tight. It was fun as his golf today was cancelled

As long as the neighbor with the really long extension cord doesn't try for your generator again, stay safe.

I was watching Max velocity on YT watching what was going on in Southern Illinois and he started covering a possible tornado on the ground
near Mt Horeb. It looked like it is just down the highway near you.

We are also having wet weather out here, but nothing as dangerous as you folks. Stay safe!

On the bright side, I finally received my jungle order that was shipped on 1 May. We asked the post office for status and was told that the packages from amazon and fleabay were sent surface, so on the boat they went. May have gotten stuck in the straight of hormuz or something. Fleabay package may be expected in July, if it doesn't go to Diego Garcia like one of my coffee orders did one time.

Mt Horeb, Troll Capital of the world is about 8 miles west from us. It was pretty nasty this evening but the neighborhood Facebook page is quiet and that is a good thing. I know the 3 neighbors near us have no trees or big branches down. The apartments down the street are out cleaning up but it’s too dark to see why!

Been an odd couple of weeks, Father in Law passed away (not unexpected), I am now the inheritor of his entire railway book collection (nobody else wants it) and over a 1000 classical music CD's that I am pretty sure absolutely nobody wants.

My role in the last ten days has been driving and logistics, none of my family drive except me and so a few one and a half hour commutes into and out of the South London traffic (paying £12.50 to the Mayor of London for his dubious ULEZ scheme every time) has become the norm.

I will be shifting a lot of stuff in the next few weeks I think!

Meanwhile, here in the UK, after days of online speculation and the usual nonsense being spouted by pretencious Youtuber Influencers, it's official that KR Models (Canadian based company of mostly UK subject OO scale models, except for the Shay which is apparently made, in the factory and unpaid for to the Chinese manufacturer so effectively 'sitting on the dockside') have gone into liquidation.

A bizzare statement put out by their chairman blaming everyone but themselves (mostly "certain youtubers and influencers" and another UK railway model manufacturer who went bust seven or eight years ago now) and convienently overlooking the fact that a lot of their output had serious QC issues!

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who survived the weather.

It's Troy again.

We were supposed to be ground zero for the huge tornado outbreak, but it shifted way south. I stayed up to watch a lot of it.

The screengrab above turned into a demolished house outside of Effingham??? Illinois. Injuries were reported. The stormchaser vehicle that captured this stopped at the scene to render aid.

From my years of journalism and covering these types of events, the best one can hope for is the twisters stay rural and avoid densly populated areas. Unfortunately, the one above decimated a farmhouse. And it's not just the twisters themselves. The winds on the front and back edge of the storms are damaging too. Ryan Hall was able to point out several traffic cam/storm chaser shots showing crop field and trees in the direct path bending back into the storm. Those things suck air in and then release it catastrophically.

I'm still waiting for reports here in Indiana. Looks like most of the storms were from the Toad Hop and Terre Haute Indiana heading south west.

Daughter lives in Northern Indianapolis. We didn't get any panic texts overnight, so I'm taking that as a good sign.

So I joined the Hornby collectors club to see if I could get one of ther Terrier locos that is currently half price. £85 with a nice international shipping rate of £75!!!! OMG!

I wrote to Hornby customer service and they said they cannot change it. So, it was a total waste of time.

Dapol is another with high international shipping rate at £35. When I order from Rails or Kernow, I normally pay about £13.50.

BTW, num lock on, alt, 0163 in the keypad and get the £ symbol. haha

Wow, glad you are in the clear so far and hope it remains that way. Yeah, I'd have a pot of coffee going as well.

Speaking of pots, fill up your tub with water just in case you lose services.
Everything went well to either the north, or the south of us. We're fine. Some minor thunder storms. We might have a few branches down. Daughter in Indy was a lot closer. But it looks like Indy escaped any major damage. South of there???
