For our 30th, my wife and I flew to Sydney to take a cruise over to and around New Zealand. 5-6 hours BOS to LAX, 11 hour layover on Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving dinner was at the P.F. Chang's in the International terminal then the 15 hour flight to Sydney. Thankfully the Admiral's club at LAX has showers available, we planned that change of clothing into our carry-on backpacks.

Good evening gang

Not much happening tonight, even though I did start working on another control box for a track power, interruption, and signals for the other lift bridge. Hopefully tomorrow night, I will have more time to work on it.

Quiet evening here, my Missus went to a Bridal Shower and I listened to the Cardinal's/Mets game. Cards won and looked good doing it. Tried some sand colored grout as a ballast tonight on a spare section of track, unless it really darkens up by tomorrow it ain't gonna work as ballast, maybe for attaching ground work. Just turned on Big Jake, one of my favorite John Wayne movies.

I remember watching the grouchy media die terrorists die video and I thought the last scene with the atomic cannon was fake. I later learned that it was actually real and designated the M65 . Was just reminded of it after watching History's Greatest Machine with Dolph Lundgren. Didn't know they made a toy of it, though.

Then there was the M28/M29 Davy Crockett

Well, howdy there internet peeps and thos drooling over Bill's donuts

It's Troy again.

Currently 71 and 98% humidity.

Florida needs to come up here and get it's weather. It seems to be drunk and took a road trip.

I'm waiting on the manuscript to come back from the editor. Not much I want to do with that book hanging over me, so I may be glueing down foam to make the elevated portions of the layout.

reading Lance Mindheim's work, and realizing I have a "twice around" layout (a continuous loop, I want some way to seperate the main line's "going out" run from its "return" run.

First thought was to elevate the run along the backdrop an inch or so, and hide portions behind building for the foreground scenes. but then I realized that I can have the mainline in the foreground start at elevation zero, and make the background run the scenic town line by having a 2% grade up 1 inch at either end.

The W shaped layout would have the main chug along the countryside, hugging the front of the layout, with perhaps one siding.
It's first real siding would be at the Abbey.
Leaving the Abbey, It would wind around the WEST peninsula, and climb an inch to +1 zone. This would then have scenic towns at:
The college...
Goshen Main St.
The asylum (zombies be here) - no siding there, we just zip on by the zombies
Then around the back edge of the East peninsula, descending an 1inch for the military encampment and containment zone HQ.

I just need to get the kraft paper out and draw in the track plan to make sure I have decent curves, and room for the buildings.
Right now I have just enough WS foam incline risers to do the four 1/2 inch rise in 2ft that I need to add and subtract an inch on each end. I'm really tempted to add two more sidings from the front of the main, but I keep fighting that. One more may be needed, however. I've got a blank spot on the center peninsula that needs something. Logging camp? Farm scene?

And, Last night was the train club meeting down at the Public Library.

Someone realized the annual May elections didn't happen as scheduled. communication with this group isn't the best. they let you know about shows, but not much else. Also, there wasn't a quorum at the May meeting. But there was tonight.

Since I had just paid my membership dues, I suggested a motion to re-elect officers if no-one else was nominated for a post. The officers present were unchallenged, so motion was passed.

Something tells me I'll be on the communications side of that equation soon. Clubs die when there isn't a good means of communication. And relying on only one person (the prez in this case) to email reminders is where it usually breaks down.

Good morning all!

happy Hump day!

Another miserable humid day again today. Currently its a sticky 72F and the dew point is 71F. The high today will reach 90F. Rain
will move into the area later this evening.

Today will look much like yesterday with not much going on. I do have a load of laundry to get started once I run my daughter to drivers
ed. Probably a couple other minor things will crop up as well.

Time to hit the coffee!

Have a safe day everyone!
