Rough several days. Thursday afternoon, I got off early for Saturday server maintenance. I and the wife went to visit mom at the care home near Kansas City. We had a great visit, she was more alert than she'd been a couple of years. 8:15 Am Friday morning, my sister texts that mom is unresponsive and they are sending in a priest for Last Rites. We get up there about 12:30 and spent the rest of the day there. We had to come home to get some clothes and meds. I stayed yesterday morning long enough to get the servers done and then we headed back to KC. At about 6:30 last night we headed to a motel to come back this morning and barely got to the motel, when the call comes in that mom was no longer here. So we headed back. She waited until we were gone to pass.
We're back home as my sister had everything pre arranged. No funeral as she has dad's and soon mom's ashes that will be dealt with at a celebration of life next year.
Thinking I'm off the next couple of days...
My sympathies too. Lost my mom about fourteen months back. I was right there at the end, and she was in a very far away place. I said, "stay with me--J (sis) is on the way." And sis made it. We three had a last forty five minutes together and she knew...opened her eyes and smiled, but couldn't speak. and then closed them. And passed.
The thing that will always stick with me is that I was nearly sure she was gone...and I had a pulse-oximeter on her finger. Dad was a GA pilot, so we we had all used them for years. They measure pulse and blood oxygen concentration.
I had it on her finger and the pulse was erratic. No actual number, just a dashed line. And the other, the absorption level (of the organs) registered nothing at all either but a dashed line. And she was--not with me, but not quite gone either.
So I told her "hang on, J is coming." And she came back, opened her eyes and almost smiled at me. But the astounding thing is that the pulse oximeter went from not registering anything at all--not even dangerously low numbers--straight up instantly to 100% 100 out of 100. In all my years I MIGHT have peaked my own absorption at 96% for a brief moment, but usually was 95%. And could fall lower if I got light headed.
I have pics of this too on my cell, and perhaps even a bit of video.
Out of nowhere, and almost gone she managed to do that. I will never forget it.

I've been a skeptic almost all of my life--my forum name on Disqus actually IS "skeptic"--but for various reasons I have come almost all the way around in the last few years to realizing there are forces at work, forces in play, that are on another level entirely.
I have also done a one-eighty with regard to signals from "out there." I believe (now but not when I was younger) in what many would call "signs." That event ^ was just one of them.
It's also suddenly very important that I get those pics and that video off this phone and onto a USB stick.
