I can't believe that you are already talking about the Wild Card in baseball. Geeez! It's only the beginning of June!
I have a great friend who i enjoy talking baseball with on a regular basis. You could say he is slightly obsessed with the standings. He keeps the races fresh in my mind.

I will say it is fun to imagine the "what if" scenarios, if the playoff started today the White Sox, Cardinals and Pirates would all be in the playoffs. Very few "experts" if any would have predicted that!

But you are absolutely right, with just under 100 games to go anything can happen!
I just wish that I had someone who's as respectful of customers as you are.
Respect is the reason I do what i do. Delivering early in the morning, it is my goal to put the packages exactly where the customer expects it without being noticed or leaving any evidence that I was there. Kinda like Santa 🎅 only I wear black shorts and an orange t-shirt under my Amazon vest, without the beard, reindeer or sleigh bells and I am not going down the chimney!

Just got done doing about 45 minutes of pool maintenance and it is getting sticky out there. Glad the yard isn't in need of dire mowing.

Yes, it is getting a bit sticky. I took a shower earlier and I'm hoping when Willow and I go outside I don't have to put on bug spray. I'd like to stay clean for at least a day.

20% chance of rain today, but I don't see it happening on this side of the river. The sun has been in and out all day and it's sort of cloudy at times here. Not the big puffy cumulus, but a broken overcast layer up higher about 8K'.

It's only 84°F here, but the dewpoint is now 70°F. The beer glass is really going to sweat.

Good morning. 74°F/69°F here this soupy morning. But it's cool and pleasant outside right now. Might be a bit uncomfortable later in the afternoon.

Today is the Spirit of St. Louis Airport airshow today. I watch many aircraft on ADS-B show up to the airport yesterday. There is a Temporary Flight Restriction in effect for the airport traffic area for the weekend at certain periods throughout the day. There was a Air Force C-40 (Boeing 737) that departed Scott AFB to fly over to Spirit (KSUS) for display. He never topped 220Kts or 4K'. Took 20 minutes at that speed to get there. I can imagine all of the traffic calls to the small Cessnas and Pipers in the area for a 737 at 4000. I did hear the C-40 talking to controllers, but heard no traffic calls. Last call I heard he was cleared to land at about 2,000' and I lost him. I'm surprised I heard him at all at that distance and altitude going into Spirit airport. KSUS is about 65 miles from here, straight-line distance.

Yesterday afternoon I watched a mock dog fight between a Mitsubishi Zero and a P-51 Mustang, An F6F Hellcat, and a F4U Corsair. I hope to see the Blue Angles fly, but I couldn't find a show schedule. I can't believe the prices they are charging to get in the place. I've never paid to go to an airshow, and you won't pay on a military base, but this is a civilian affair. They want $64 for a general admission ticket, and it quickly escalates to a couple of hundred dollars+ for the premium tent seats on the flightline...but you get two beer tickets. Ooooh.

Nothing planned for today other than watching the radar. I'm going to play my new guitar later and see how Willow reacts to different volume levels. Lisl used to go lay in the train room under the layout when I played.
I watched the movie "The Spirit of St Louis" with Jimmy Stewart about a week ago. It is still one of my favorite movies.

You might enjoy this.........

Good day all............

For the Nascar fans : Ned Jarrett passed away on June 4 of this year.

Ned Jarrett (October 12, 1932 – June 4, 2026) was an American race car driver and broadcaster. He was a two-time NASCAR Grand National Series champion. Because of his calm demeanor, he became known as "Gentleman Ned Jarrett". He was the father of former drivers Glenn Jarrett and Dale Jarrett.
He drove in his first race in 1952 at Hickory Motor Speedway (North Carolina). He drove a Sportsman Series Ford that he co-owned with his brother-in-law, John Lence and finished tenth. This did not go over well with his father. His father told him he could work on cars but not drive them. Once, John was sick for a race and asked Jarrett to fill in for him. Jarrett used his brother-in-law's name and came in second in that race. That worked out so smoothly that Jarrett drove in a few more races under the assumed name John Lence but was finally caught by his father after winning a race. His father told him if he was going to drive to at least use his own name.
In 1959, Jarrett was looking to pursue a career in the Grand National Series. He purchased a Junior Johnson Ford for $2,000. He did not have enough money to cover the check, so he waited until the bank closed to write the check, entered two races, and won them both to cover the cost of his car.

I'm working on some 3D printed fascia panels for my Tam Valley servo controllers. I was cutting these out of wood sheet, drilling holes and that was a lot of work. Tam Valley sells a recessed 3D printed item but I don't care for it. I like to show the track route on my fascia so I'm doing my own flat panels. I'll post some pics later on.

Rained last night and this morning which was well needed. But looks like temps in upper 90s are forecast for all next week, 100 degrees for Monday. Summer has arrived.

Everyone have a great weekend.......John

Had a fun game of toy soldiers at the game store today. The scenario was "Loot" - grab the token and run away with it. I got to all three tokens first, but couldn't keep hold of them. I suspected that would be the case.

it was a hard fought slugfest. The StayPuft army battled until the end, but there were just too many of the enemy.

Good evening gang!

Under a severe thunderstorm watch for the next hour or so. Very dark with lots of wind, waiting for the rain.
Got the last of the mulch laid today, but wifey says iths thin in spots and she wants 2 more bags. Jeezz!!

I had no difficulty signing on this evening, maybe the bots got tired?

Ordered a roll pan for the back of the S10, so I can get rid of the useless step bumper. Waiting on a relay socket for the next lift bridge electronics circuit. My workbench is covered with half done stuff that is also waiting on parts so I'm not starting something new. Maybe I'll play Parcheesi ?

g'mornin'

Overcast day today with rain guessed for this afternoon. Going to be heading over to help my friend move some stuff around in one of his three rented storage units. He's going to help me store some of my stuff while the outside of the house is being worked on. I can imagine what I'll see as his wife buys stuff for comfort. They have multiple copies of the same thing, ie: bags, towels, pillows, pots and pans, etc. He wants to reduce down to 2 storage units. I recommended that he just throw most of that stuff away since she don't even remember what she bought and they'll never use it.

Welcome back, I know what it's like for fighting the health issues. Prayers up for you.
@Kusojiji do you folks have consignment shops over there? Take the extra stuff to one of those and at least get something back on the money spent.
Spent the afternoon working on several half finished buildings as I have my tools out for attacking them. A company named K4 decals makes really nice stuff, but their decals are very tough, Microl Sol won't cause them to soften up to snuggle down over rivets or galvanizing. I need to make a sheet of decals anyway for town names and some other businesses. Gonna take a break and have dinner, then listen to the ballgame.
You all have a good evening.

Good afternoon.

A friend with a great layout is in the 7/2026 model railroader magazine. Operated 3 times there so far in 2026. Arpad is one of the most gentlemen of gentlemen and so proud to be an American citizen. I have to go buy it and have him sign it. His is the 10th model railroad I regularly operate on since 2020 to be featured in either MR or RMC. I have autographs for 6 of the layout articles.

Good Evening All. Currently experiencing a thunderstorm that started around 5ish or so. Currently 2" in the rain gauge, but it looks like it will subside real soon. Slow and steady with no puddling so far. It's not often that we get 3"+ rain in 24 hours that all soaks in and doesn't puddle. Of course, the pool is overflowing at the skimmer, but just barely so far.

Later friends.

Good evening gentlemen. Thunderstorm today in the evening, but early and all the way to early evening; sunny, a little breezy and hot. After saving a few grand just for another car-toy, i found this 1986 VW Jetta with an ABA swap. The ABA is basically a third generation VW 2.0 liter engine dropped into a second generation VW engine bay. Second generation Golf/Jetta is a lot lighter than third or fourth gen. The ABA a very torquey on the low end makes this a perfect combination for "spirited" driving. It's not perfect, but it is a 40 year old car:

Someone also did a full respray on the car.

And it's nicely lowered (not slammed like the younger generation likes it)

Finally happy again having a second generation VW after an almost two year gap.
