G'mornin'. Heading out to see the eye doc in a few hours. About a 1.5 hr train ride and traverse to the hospital. Going to see if they will get an anesthesiologist or not. They would rather give me a local pain killer, I would rather they roofie me.

I will tell them that I get sick when I get dizzy. You know when you get a concussion and your eyes don't focus? Yeah. I get sick. When I get sick, I will be moving, then they'll f-up the operation. If they tell me that they've done a lot of patients like this, I'll tell them that I am not a lot of patients and I'll just cancel the whole thing. I would rather live with the floaters, even though it is driving me insane, than be blind in one eye due to something as retarded as this. They knock people out for colonoscopies, yet don't want to do it for this.

Well, howdy there internet peeps. It's Troy again.

Glass of Bulleit Rye tonight. Not sure if that is cowboy frew-foo beverage? No? good.

Had an interesting day. Found the HOA board member who came out to shake my hand after I submitted that six page revision for their new set of proposed rules. He said the executive committee meeting, where they can't do anything binding actually went smoothly. A lot of what I submitted got approved to be in the upcoming draft of rules and regs. Including the grandfather provision for past items that should have been updated by the board, but weren't so the additions fell outside of the rules.

Like, the rules say that all doors and window frames have to be painted a certain Sherwin Williams paint color... How long have windows been made where they're powder coated, or whatever? The kind of stuff that's stupid to put a coat of paint on?

So a lot of doors and windows went in with the "close enough to that brown color" attitude. We all check the box that says "Yes, my door/windows will be paint xyz color..." because no one changed the form.

In Wife News:
Nothing to report on the lab tests until tomorrow at the earliest. She had a mental fatigue day. Feeling Blah.

We strongly suspect rheumatoid arthritis.

Many moons ago, she had her thyroid removed. In her mid 20s. Not cancer, but very screwed up. Whatever her condition with the thyroid was, it shares genetic markers with those prone to RA. So, we're expecting that diagnosis.

If so, once she starts on the pharm for it, she has to really limit alcohol. She's got half a handle of Rum from Costco to work through. And that's her plan!

We're picking up a food dehydrator in the Amazon Prime Day pre-sale. Going to work on getting some veggies and fruits stored for over winter.

And on the layout, I cleared the benchwork top. Used the window and door expando foam to fill in gaps on the EAST end of the layout. I'll carve it down tomorrow.

Started layout out the main loop. Now I'm trying to decide the most likely places for turnouts and spurs. I don't need a lot of operations, but I don't want to box myself into a 4% grade to add one to get to a raised area.

I'll do pics once I get more stuff ironed out.

Well, back from trying to go to my eye doc appt. Got on the train, got a seat, all settled in. At the first train stop, announcement came over so we got off at the next stop since there was no sense in sitting there for next 2-3 hours. We walked about 2 miles back to the previous station and caught the bus back to where the car was parked. Made it home and now have to call the hospital and let them know why we missed the 1000 appointment (now 1025 as I type this).

Reason for the train stoppage? Some f-ing loser decided death by train. I hope the train company takes all the money that the loser has. They should pay us as well for the train ticket, the bus ticket, and the waste in time. The hospital better not try to charge me for the missed appt.

I might have mentioned this one before, and if I've made you read it twice, apologies.

I was driving dad's Jeep CJ5 west up US6 above Golden CO. He was in the passenger's seat...we had the white hard top on--I remember it being somewhat dark behind me, but we definitely had the doors off. We were watching, both of us through the windscreen with him crouched down on his side so he could see up.

On the other side of Clear Creek a very large boulder was coming down the talus slope toward us. At some point, as best I recall, it landed and stopped, but dislodged a smaller rock which then continued the assault. Dad was watching, telling me...give it the gas...or brake brake brake, as it was pretty clear we were in its sights. We couldn't just stop dead due to traffic behind us, most of whom probably didn't see it.

Eventually the rock crossed the creek and hit us...doors off...about where my ankles were, driving. If it had come through a bit higher up it certainly would have broken both my thighs, or smashed my hips. It would have killed me, either way.

Even this smaller rock was a good 30 + inches long--solid granite, and probably weighed 300-400 lbs at a minimum. I would never have survived it had it not been for the sheet steel panel covering my ankles. The dent was considerable, but that Jeep literally saved my life that day.

I already spoke about the RAM 2500 which also saved me after my 75 mph off road sojurn during a blowing snowstorm east of Des Moines. This was back in January. Now in late may and now early June I own a 2012 Tundra. And I hope not to ask it to have to protect me. If the airbags never go off, it'll all be good.

Did it run over him, or did he chose to fry himself on the catenary?
I don't know. Probably won't find out since they don't normally go into that kind of detail. I think it was about two stations away from where we got off.

We're still not able to get a call in to the hospital. Despite living in the digital age, they are still in the stone ages. One grouchy receptionist who is too busy to answer the phone. Wife has been trying since we got back.

I cannot remember the last time that every team in any Division were all above .500 going in to June!
Likewise, I can't remember most of the American League being under 500 in the first week of June!

As bad as the Tigers started, they are now only 5.5 games back in the Wild Card. The Angels are now dead last in the American League and even they are only 6.5 games back.

As crazy as this years' American League is, finishing at 500 might earn a Wild Card spot, but I doubt it.

2026 is turning out to be a most interesting season. I'm looking for more than a few surprises yet to come. I suspect most of the American League is better than sub-500.

This is why I watch MLB; you never know what is going to happen!

Shohei Ohtani is in some elite company once again, this time as a starting pitcher!

Ohtani has a 0.74 ERA through 10 starts this season. That’s not just the lowest among pitchers with at least 60 innings this season, it’s the third lowest of any pitcher over their first 10 starts in a season since earned runs became an official stat in both leagues in 1913, excluding openers.

Jacob deGrom in 2021 (0.56) and Juan Marichal in 1966 (0.59) are the only starting pitchers who have posted a lower ERA through 10 starts.

Good morning Coffee Shop! It's Friday, 66°F (19°C) and mostly clear.

Well howdy there Flo. Wake Mel up and tell him first round of Bacon is on me.

The resident vegetarians can have a bowl of oatmeal as well, but bring me their bacon.

Still waiting on my editor to get my book back to me hopefully this weekend. So I'm sitting and spinning my wheels until then. Once it's back, a mad dash of reading and correcting, then back to her for a final review.

Then it heads off to the Beta Readers who find any pesky typos still remaining.

I plan on working on finishing the rough draft of the track plan in the meantime. (Which will be paused as soon as the email from the editor arrives).

I'm 3D printing the top layer of the mansion. That will take all weekend. 7 sections per layer. Each one takes 6-8 hours.

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Already 70F humid degrees out here this morning. Looks like the rain is passing just to the north of us. The high is supposed to be around
85F. Better chance for rain later this afternoon, I actually hope it does since we need it. The lawns are starting to get a little brown.

No real plans for the day, just take it as it comes.

Have a safe day everyone!
