Well, howdy there internet peeps and those without bullet wounds,

It's Troy again.

Taking a break from painting orcs... well, not really. I just went and assembled some ships to fight the orc fleet with...

fleet1.jpg

And the game designers have a bit of latent humour... this ship is a "Gur Panther". Grrrrr!

fleet2.jpg

so, the drydock is full, and I need to do some painting after we go visit Mom (AKA Crazy Granny) today.

Wait! What's this over on the 3d printing workbench?

seamon.jpg

Looks like sea monsters in potentia! better get that fleet painted...

This is for an upcoming demo day I need to run.

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin. I just checked the weather forecast, it’s 59f degrees heading to 80! It’s a gray ugly overcast sky that says to me the rain is coming. But, the WeatherChannel app says the best chance of rain is 3% at noon.

I’m heading over to the shed to pick up a pickup truck to haul artwork in after 10am. Should be a decent overall day in Wisconsin

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All!

52F @ 56% and kinda gray. Only to 61F later. Snow in the higher elevations ( 3000Ft ) which should not matter here.

And Murphy is still here. Need the R.Front tire off to replace that Crankshaft Position Sensor. Ya, keyed socket ( not one of those wavy types ) not to be found anywhere in the vehicle. Guy I bought it from passed early this year. Clyde boxed up his stuff so I am hoping that socket is in his old toolbox. Clyde back in town bout noon. If no joy there, will try a small 'vise grip' and give it a turn with box end combination - that nut should not be on that hard ...right? If that does not happen, think that I can pound a suitable socket on it to get it free. I have a bunch of old crappy ones so no big deal there. You may have to make the pix big to see the nut in the shadow.

Check under/around the spare tire. You may luck out.

Good Morning All. Clear skies and 71°. Supposed to be cooler today than yesterday, only 94° instead of 95°. I really can't tell the difference though.

Spent over 90 minutes mowing the east side yesterday, last week I just quickly went over it on a higher than normal setting just to keep it from becoming a hayfield, yesterday I did a proper cutting. This morning I'll hit the south and southwest sides. I'll probably also get the north around the train shed as well since I won't be home tomorrow. I also did some more cutting of tree limbs, nothing major. Most all were 3" or less in diameter.

Need to empty the dishwasher this morning while the dew dries off outside. Wife will return just before noon, usually. Pool always feels good after mowing. I will need to use the weedeater today, which I really don't like using, but the aftereffects of all of the recent rains won't go away for another 2-3 weeks, despite temperatures in the 90's.

Simple day out in the train shed yesterday, as I continued rebuilding Garner's Market. I got the back wall back on after doing all of the inside bracing, and got all of the trim and signs back in place.

IMG_0293.JPG

All figures are also back in place, some with super glue this time. Still to go are the chimney and all of the paper awnings.
IMG_0294.JPG

Some of the trim still needs adjustment, but I may fake it with green paint if I can find a good match. I don't know what exact color that Chet used, but I believe that BN Green will work.

Tom O - I knew about the gold at Costco even though I don't go there, I read about it somewhere. Some of my skepticism regarding gold goes back to the late 70's when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market. At the time, my sister-in-law and her husband had decided to invest in silver as an investment. They purchased a considerable amount at the time for prices ~$35/oz. Then the market broke. They're still sitting on several hundred pounds, they won't admit exactly how much, which is only worth $26/oz at today's prices!
Interesting turn of events in the neighborhood shooting.
Chad - My same sister-in-law and husband also have invested in gold jewelry, which is stupid to me. No woman sells her gold jewelry while she's alive unless it's a desperate situation. I never believed that jewelry was a good investment.
Sherrel - Best wishes for your chemo next week. New phones. Ugggh! I still haven't gotten my new Galaxy S24 to act like my old S9. Too f**cking much unnecessary software and pre-loaded apps.

Today is now known as Beer Day in Great Britain. It used to be just Magna Carta Day, but a few years back, someone came up with the Beer Day suggestion. TRIVIA: In the UK, a pint of beer is 20 oz, whereas in the US it's only 16 oz. We can all celebrate with them even though we are across the pond.
Everyone have a really great Saturday.

Terry/Curt: This thing has multiple cubby holes besides the center console and jockey box. There are 2 under the back seat: jumper cables and chains in one, bed slot rail tie-down adapters in the other, and 1 behind the back seat: 4 point crossed wrench and Jack with the associated rod. Comes like that from the factory. Spare is under the bed. I will check that out; don't know if I have to crank that down or what yet, but no idea for the life of me why it would be there as it makes no sense if you are gonna replace the tires you would have to crank it down just to get some idiot socket. Jockey box is where it should be; and is on my other vehicles! I do like how they have 'stored' everything though. Surprising thing is that nothing rattles if you get it all in correctly. Would be a PITA if the bed was full along with the back seat and you needed to get to the jack; heck that probably would be the only time you would need it.

Did you look in the spare tire compartment? Mine was in a little box under spare tire. But i've bought the car new...Also, crank shaft position sensor replacement needs to have tire removed to get to it?! This is why i would never buy a Nissan. The cars are designed by monkeys with computers. I was asked to replace an alternator on a Maxima once, maybe early 2000s. The friggin thing was under the steering pump and some other stuff which i've had to move out of the way. Did it and made some money, but i would never work on these for a living.

, but i would never work on these for a living.
My first job out of tech school was at a Ford dealership. It only took about 6 months of that to go work on big trucks that had space to actually work on stuff. spent the next 30 years doing that, and a much better living at that. Started working for a company that owned their own equipment, and hourly, not book time!

Take a look at the post above your post ( three up if nobody else posts while Ima typing this). - spare tire and other stuff in that.

In my humble experience, there is *always* some sensor or widget some place where you need to get to it. Most of the time a real lift will allow you to get under with arm room. Don't have that, only jack stands and don't want to lift the thing high enough ( or if I even can ) to get under it proper. PITA, I know. Planning on a real lift when the garage is built just for this sort of crap.

I’ll try not to take the monkey comment personally.
Everything I did had to go back to Japan, then had to be forwarded back to France. Never mind the things I worked on were for the North American market only, the French still had to sign off on it. Hence, many of the “eccentric” design features.
Fun times…

Which is why the UK Gallon is larger -- 160 ounces. Its still 8 pints.

UK 8 x 20 = 160
US 8 x 16 = 128

And that's why looking at UK car ads they have unbelievably high MPG ratings. They have 25% more gasoline, or petrol, per gallon.
