I couldn't believe my eyes, but my wife has now seen it too! We had no idea what it was. We had never seen one before. I had to check with the Maryland Department of Natural Recourses (DNR).

Fisher (Martes pennanti)​

Description & Range:​

Fishers are a dark brown-black color. They have a long body characteristic of the weasel family in addition to a bushy tail and short legs. Fishers are large members of the weasel family. The males are typically between 36 to 40 inches while females are 30 to 36 inches. Male fishers can weigh up to 12 pounds while females can get up to 8 pounds.

Fishers were almost extirpated (locally extinct) from Maryland in the 1850s due to loss of much of its forested habitat. Fishers have made a tremendous comeback in Maryland and now occupy much of western Maryland.

We live in southeast Baltimore city! Ours must be a male, I estimated it at close to twenty pounds. We hope he has a mate.

After sending DNR an email to report the sighting they tell me they are rare but have been seen in backyards in the suburbs around the city. They are harmless to humans unless cornered or provoked. We simply watch, it is a beautiful creature! He is a blessing, thank God.

Willie and others ... You mean to tell me that you are taking 96 pills every day?
I cannot fathom this?
I take 10 pills every day, but I just gobble them all down at the same time - except for the blood thinner which is a twice a day pill.

It's range is actually 6 miles, but battery life is just 29 minutes. So if you go out 6 miles, you can't get all of the way back home. Go figure!
It moves about 32'/sec, so it can go out 6 miles but only come back ~4 miles. That's at close to ground level, higher altitudes reduce the distance. It has a special button called "RTH", return to home. That automatically brings it back to it's starting point. It can also fly 13000' high if I did the meter/foot calculation correctly, 4000m. However there may be local restrictions involving height. You can reset all of these parameters to a lower level if you wish. It also has internal GPS navigation which prevents you from entering airspace around airports, military bases, power plants and other sensitive areas. It can be flown indoors at gymnasiums, concert halls etc, but there may be specific prohibitions against some of that.
I doubt that I will ever get more than 1/2 mile away, and then only after many practice flights.
 
Let me amend the previous statement regarding height. While the drone can go as high as 4000m, there is a civilian height restriction here of 400'. I had to look that up since Southwest Airlines planes pass directly over my property at 6000'± on their incoming eastbound approach to Dallas Love Field, before turning south about 12 miles away. I believe that the internal GPS navigation holds me to that.

Just an update on my take forever layout.
I'm adding some foam scenic materials slowly, to the river crossing.
I have a bunch in different colours that I don't like. None of it seems natural to me, compared to the forest I frequent every day. It's causing me to over-think the whole deal.
Here it is with a little earth coloured foam added. I'm not really artistic in the application:

Plus, I was playing with the layout of Main Street, just to see if there was enough room for the structures I want to build, before I run out of sidewalk. The sidewalk ends immediately out of frame on either side of this photo:

The DPM kits will be dry-goods and a drug store. The hotel will be a converted seed plant made by RailKits.

Curt - Good luck with the surgery. - I lived in Alaska 78-79, in a wall tent while I built 5 cabins for a Wein Air pilot. Alaska is beautiful. You will enjoy that cruise. - Make sure you take photos on the train rides.
Chet - You have way too many remote buttons to worry about there.
Sherrel - Absolutely beautiful kitchen area. Well done, indeed! I'm a one pot cook myself.
Kriegslok - Wonderful photos again. Looks like you need to be watching out for those railroad coppers as much as I do. They gave me a $700.00 ticket once. The closed courts during covid cancelled it for me.

I'm hearing the Dallas Stars are getting some time off at home. I won't say much about it, but, we do want our cup back.

While i never got a fine from railroad cops, i did get arrested by Amtrak police once. Yep, in April 2003 Amtrak was retiring its E60 electric locomotives. I decided to try to document one coming out of the Hudson River tunnels in North Bergen, NJ. They snagged me and it was litterary three days away till the end of E60 operations. They searched me and my backpack, put me in handcuffs and drove me to North Bergen police department for processing. I've had to show up to North Bergen court for a trial. Amtrak policeman didn't show up (he realized i was no trouble at all i guess). The judge was an old fellow, little on the comical side when he heard my testimony and he dissmissed the charge. Needles to say it was scary while it lasted. I did get a shot of an E60 that day, but northbound and about to duck in the tunnel, it was the last time i saw an E60 run under its own power.
 
@PRR Modeler well i can take pictures from the tarmac as long as i dont break the rules of the airport or my company. and as long as i dont take „illegal“ pictures from safety stuff or so. and i always have my smartphone with my, so if i see a nice plane or scene with a plane i take a picture.
iam maybe like a plane spotter but with more access :P

I probably am close to that -- non of them medicine but things like vitamins, some herbals, fish oil, etc. I have certain ones for each of the three meals a day and twice for "empty stomach" ones. Good thing I can swallow 10-20 at a time. (The trick is to stick them in your mouth and then drink water and swallow the water -- forget the pills are there.)

You can put a "High nose" on that GP60 and do a Norfolk Southern unit.

On that first picture the track on the right is in fact out of service, it used to cross the track on the right side of the station (second picture) on a diamond. Looking down the used track, that used to go to Frederick, Maryland and i think this was Western Maryland. On the second picture the track on the right side of the station is going to Gettysburg (yes That Gettysburg) and that might have been Pennsylvania Railroad, but i'd have to check my Railroad atlas to make sure.
 
Got some reading material in the mail. Unfortunately, the mail carrier decided the only way to make it fit in our mail slot flap was to crease the cover.

In other news, our local NMRA Div 3 is heading to Goshen IN this Sunday for a large layout tour. I've never met the gents in the local, and am thinking of going along. I mean, it's not like I haven't spent enough time the past three weeks driving to Goshen to work on Mom's issues. ;)

Need to check the weather and see if I can contribute to the driving, or if the wife will need the car...
