I see Styx and Foreigner are scheduled to appear on the same card at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Tuesday July 30. It puzzled me why they scheduled this concert on Tuesday a non-racing day. It would be more appealing to me as a Golf / Track / Concert Day then to drive the 2 hours for just a rock concert.

Good Morning All. A cloudy muggy morning with 74°, no breeze and 91% humidity. We couldn't go a day without rain yesterday, although at 0.25", it wasn't much. Scattered showers in the forecast for tonight and then MAYBE 4 days of no precipitation. It will take more than 4 days for it to dry out here, despite temperatures in the 90's.

Debris cleanup goes on here, dumpster is about 3/4 full already. I spoke with a really stupid lady in customer service yesterday who just didn't understand what I was asking them to do to get the dumpster back where it really belonged. Hint: It involves driving forward about 60' before setting it back down after emptying it. Duh! I was able to do some critical weedeating before the rain.
Today's cleanup is primarily going to be cutting up fallen branches and clearing a path back to the demolished barn. I'll also be looking in the field for my battery-powered lawnmower, which is still missing.
The new phones are supposed to arrive today. It will give my wife a chance to go to town and shop while the data is transferred.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I actually powered up and moved a few trains around. Good to know that all is well from that aspect. Flipping stuff over and weighting from the other side right now. Took a few pictures but I left the camera outside. Updates later.

John - Those old Roundhouse kits were one of the mainstays of my early model railroading. I still have all of the era-correct ones on the layout.
Tom O - You seem to be getting as much rain as I am, but apparently yours is running off faster than mine. Maybe it's just my black clay soil. My shoes are leaving 1" depressions wherever I walk.
Have a safe trip on the way to the golf matches tomorrow.
Sherrel - I have also suppressed the urge to post a monster rant. I cannot wait for election time to see which way America is going to be duped. I can't say that I am pleased with the choice of candidates, but I will vote for policy instead of personality.
Chad - It was only the Jehovah Witnesses that I discouraged. I listened to and talked with others to get a deeper understanding of their beliefs.
Curt - I am initially just weighting the walls/roofs/floors down since they are still damp. Some seem to be working. I think that different structures will take different approaches.
James - Whoops! Cloudy here so the planet alignment wasn't visible.

Since I started this post, it has cooled off to 66° and it has sprinkled again. Weather Underground shows 0.07"; I shouldn't be concerned with that minuscule amount.

Everyone have a great day and stay dry if applicable.

Willie were you out there directing the dumpster driver. I had at least 2 dumper delivery's here recently and I directed the driver where I wanted the dumpster to be positioned. He put the dumpster exactly where I wanted it to be.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those that know windows in flight or at ground level.

It's Troy again.

Feeling sorry for Mom. She knows her body is giving out, and there isn't much that can be done. She had breathing difficulty last night, along with hot and cold flashes. Nursing staff upped her oxy, and got her back above 90 after a couple of hours. Doctor will be in to see her today.

She called me to see if we had any new lab numbers posted to her online patient portal. But I don't see any new ones. Our guess is that she's beginning another UTI. With her lack of bladder control, these are going to be frequent, unfortunately.

I've got the vision impaired phone that Terry recommended for her. I'll take it in tomorrow when we do the update with staff meeting.

And in other news, The Battleship New Jersey (now a museum ship) is about finished with her drydock. AND this past weekend, they "Fleeted" the ship. What is that?

Watch this video to learn about it.

Good morning, Everybody!

I have a question for this diverse group.

What is the difference between Polish Dill Pickles and Kosher Dill Pickles?

I picked up Polish Dill Pickles by mistake and they are fantastic! Who knew?

Have an enjoyable day Everybody!

Morning folks

44F, partly cloudy with a forecast high of 67. Near perfect. To bad I'll be wasting the day on a resupply run to town. Weed spraying was on yesterday's agenda but it never did dry out so they are enjoying their extended life plans. Those plans will likely be terminated Saturday with the forecast in the low 80's.

I ended up using most of yesterday looking for missing pieces for several project locomotives until I ran out of places to look. And they weren't shinny so I can't blame the packrats. May be a case of triage in my future.

The dumpster is where me and three neighbors dragged it after the tornado flung it nearly 200' from it's original location. The driver won't be here for it until Friday. I am dependent on him to get it back in place. It's too far from the house for me to hear him until he's actually emptying it, and then I would have to "run" out and get his attention. Other than Friday, there's not a "set in stone" time that he arrives or I could wait next to it. I have no reason to believe that he won't do it if he knows that it needs to be done. He might even figure it out himself.

is it time for some scrap plywood and rattlecans of paint?

"Please move me ------>"

And another one "Place Dumpster here!"

If you have enough plywood, you could set up a scoring zone. Driver gets 100 points for the correct spot, 50 for the halfway, 25 for moving it 20 feet.

Clip a $20 bill to the WINNER! 100 pts sign.

This. I was planning a similar but not as involved and clever reply.

Willie I'm not sure what the policy of the dumpster company your using is but the one I used called me to let me know they were one the way.

Chadbag & Troy: Good answers.
I did it a little different; imagine that!
Put sign on dumpster 'Please move dumpster near small cooler to the Right/Left/whatever."
Put 6 pack of beer in cooler.
Put sign on cooler "Please return cooler on your next trip"

This will help you for *years*
