Good Morning All. Cloudy and 65°. The never acknowledged (by the weather bureau) thunderstorm last evening left me with 0.15" in the rain gauge. Today's forecast calls for more, although it has been in and out of the forecast for days. Seems to be scattered showers about 65 miles west which are stationary right now.
Yesterday's garden harvest did indeed bring another round of Green Beans, Cherry Tomatoes, and the first of the Yellow Squash and Jalapeno Peppers. One more run-through of the Broccoli tomorrow and I will remove those plants to the compost pile. I will need to start looking more closely at the regular Tomatoes, as it may be time for a few to start ripening. After dealing with the harvest, I mowed part of the east side, but decided that it really could wait another couple of days after I got the most publicly visible half acre done.
This morning we go on the weekly grocery trek. It will be a short one since most of the produce is coming from the garden right now. I am also making an attempt at clearing stuff out of the freezer, since I have lost some stuff that I know is in there somewhere. I tend to be a sucker for stuff on sale at times. I still have a free turkey from Christmas, a couple of corned beefs from St Patrick's Day, a Prime Rib that was on clearance after Easter, etc.
I am amazed at the postings the last few days regarding fast foods. I personally do not partake in fast food save for the 3-4 times a year that I treat myself to a Whataburger or a Jersey Mike's sub. I have
never eaten at a McDonald's in my life. Maybe it's because they don't serve beer!

Just never developed the habit. Neither wife's family or mine went to fast food places when growing up, and besides not having any nearby, we decided years ago that the food wasn't as healthy as what we could grow and fix at home. We do eat out once a week now, at casual to upscale establishments, just to get out of the kitchen.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I planted a few large trees and a couple of smaller ones.
The latest project over on the workbench is to repair one of the structures that I received from
Chet. It did not survive the trip very well. I think that he told me that it was damaged a bit when he removed it from the layout also. Nothing that I cannot fix, but some patience is going to be required. It is a laser-cut wood structure.
It does appear that all of the parts are there except one small piece of trim which I can make.
Chris - I love my bacon somewhat chewy, but I will eat it crisp if that's how it turns out.
Best wishes to all of you who are affected by the smoke, it really looks bad. Stay indoors or retrieve those Covid masks.
Everyone have a great day.
