Even indoors it's hard to breathe here at the moment.
Millions of people continue to breathe acrid air, including in New York, which was shrouded in an orange apocalyptic haze, and down into Pennsylvania, which is recording some of the worst air quality in the world.

Good morning gang!

Wifey let the dog out this morning and was hit face first with a wall of smoke. Immediately after she was taking a nebulizer treatment. Yech! I’m certain that this is not going to play well with my sinus infection.

Terry, I hope you have made sufficient offerings to the porcelain gods that they release you from their grip!

Here goes nothing!

Good evening. I'm near the end of day two of what we think is a case of food poisoning. Yesterday was the upper digestive thing, today is the lower. Without going into any gory details, I'm into roll three of toilet paper. I was in bed almost all day and night yesterday. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.
I doubt you have access BUT psyllium husk used to make physillium bread will ell with diarroahoa or constipation you must drink plenty of water, and I mention this as many constipation or diarroah medicines are inc physillium husk, the husk is much cheaper and a bread alternative can be made in the microwave in one minute adding egg and baking powder and for non Keto you can add normal flour Keto prob almond flour or just physillium.
this can be easily varified with a little web search.
I have tried this on my self and family as 2 have irritable bowel syndrome and it works, IF you are on dialysis it will likely mess up your liquid levels so advice hospital (i offered physillium bread to a friend with kidney issues and she mentioned to hospital and they said it would impact so we avoid feeding her physillium)
meantime sorry about your woes, do you know it was food, ho-fully not from water!

Without getting too gross, I made it to work this morning, greeted the shop foreman, and returned home. I never got out of my car. And I'm again perched on the throne.
My dad had a phone call from a friend who owned a nice car leather seats he had an attack of diarrhoea and asked dad if he was willing to rescue him, dad agreed mum gave him a large plastic sheet, teasing and reminding at any given opportunity ensued :D sniggers, this became a family affair so I would tease and as he was very bald I would often walk up to him when sat down rub his head and say,”shinnnnneeee” (shiny) luckily he was like an uncle to me and would just smile or give me a hug.

We moved out to the countryside and my asthma developed there, maybe it was inevitable or the plants effect me, BUT I rarely have bad issues, once taking my blue inhaler 3 times in quick succession made me feel very I’ll while driving, I never repeated THAT mistake. If I pass dust from farms I close the windows fast! Rapeseed definitely annoys me :(

This is what it looks like in southern Pennsylvania (Lancaster county)

I thought you guys were writing that Guy’s fires were smoking out NYC. I did not know Quebec is burning!
I think the whole Frozen North is burning. Guy's fish fry in Alberta, Gary's Barbe in Nova Scotia, and yesterday I read that the Frenchie's Frys in Quebec spilled over to their woods...   This is not to mention the still burning fire in Jackson, NJ not more than 7 miles away. Ugh!

AC is on "fan only" to circulate and filter the air. It's was 42° when Beth (Natasha), turned it on, and that in itself is crazy. We never use that setting.
Doesn't look too bad right now, but it's supposed to be with us until tomorrow night.

Must be nice there in paradise, eh?

So far, so good, but I'm keeping the Albuterol close. The Treligy works wonders, (so far). Have to go out later, hope it's not a mistake...

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 65°. The never acknowledged (by the weather bureau) thunderstorm last evening left me with 0.15" in the rain gauge. Today's forecast calls for more, although it has been in and out of the forecast for days. Seems to be scattered showers about 65 miles west which are stationary right now.

Yesterday's garden harvest did indeed bring another round of Green Beans, Cherry Tomatoes, and the first of the Yellow Squash and Jalapeno Peppers. One more run-through of the Broccoli tomorrow and I will remove those plants to the compost pile. I will need to start looking more closely at the regular Tomatoes, as it may be time for a few to start ripening. After dealing with the harvest, I mowed part of the east side, but decided that it really could wait another couple of days after I got the most publicly visible half acre done.

This morning we go on the weekly grocery trek. It will be a short one since most of the produce is coming from the garden right now. I am also making an attempt at clearing stuff out of the freezer, since I have lost some stuff that I know is in there somewhere. I tend to be a sucker for stuff on sale at times. I still have a free turkey from Christmas, a couple of corned beefs from St Patrick's Day, a Prime Rib that was on clearance after Easter, etc.

I am amazed at the postings the last few days regarding fast foods. I personally do not partake in fast food save for the 3-4 times a year that I treat myself to a Whataburger or a Jersey Mike's sub. I have never eaten at a McDonald's in my life. Maybe it's because they don't serve beer!;)Just never developed the habit. Neither wife's family or mine went to fast food places when growing up, and besides not having any nearby, we decided years ago that the food wasn't as healthy as what we could grow and fix at home. We do eat out once a week now, at casual to upscale establishments, just to get out of the kitchen.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I planted a few large trees and a couple of smaller ones.

The latest project over on the workbench is to repair one of the structures that I received from Chet. It did not survive the trip very well. I think that he told me that it was damaged a bit when he removed it from the layout also. Nothing that I cannot fix, but some patience is going to be required. It is a laser-cut wood structure.

It does appear that all of the parts are there except one small piece of trim which I can make.

Chris - I love my bacon somewhat chewy, but I will eat it crisp if that's how it turns out.

Best wishes to all of you who are affected by the smoke, it really looks bad. Stay indoors or retrieve those Covid masks.
Everyone have a great day.

Good morning, everyone.

No smoke in the air here in Northern Illinois. Looks like its all Northwest, and East of us. Going to be a bit cool again today. Yesterday was the first day in a week my daughter, and I didn't use the pool. It was a little cool for us, plus our water temps aren't where they should be by this time of year. The solar cover is helping, but we haven't had a good string of 90s. Just a couple here and there.

Train wise I managed to get 4-yard tracks started. Probably going to work on laying down the second ladder today.

Other than that not much going on!

Have a great day all.

Must be something going around, because I have experienced it the last couple of weeks.
It's my job. A few years ago, I took a job to help out a guy whose finance guy up and quite, and he went without a person in that role (which includes HR) for nearly 18 months before I offered to help. I've since realized why his former guy quit... and I have given notice of my intent to leave, but they haven't done any planning to replace me or to have the work parsed out, or anything for that matter. I gave notice on March 24th, and basically said I would stay long enough to help with a transition, but I have to have a plan and an end date.

Yesterday (10.5 weeks later) , on a conference call I asked about the plan, and got a bunch of double talk and other "body language" that basically told me they were ignoring my notice, hoping I'd change my mind.

So I spent the night trying to decide if I should just give 2 weeks and be done. It's not in my DNA to give just a 2-week notice, but I need to be done here.
