Another great to eat - Deep Fried Banana's or, as we call them in the Land of Food - Banana Fritters. They go with Pineapple Fritters very nicely - especially if you use a Rum Based Sauce over them, err the Banana ones I mean :)

Yep - if you see a Truck Stop packed with Trucks - you KNOW the food is good !!
Nope, not these days although Truck Stop's are ALWAYS packed with trucks from about 1500ish to 0800ish the next morning. Food is hit or miss anymore as most of the real resruarants have folded from lack of worker bees; some of the fast food places too. The stuff in the convenience store part is usually fresh, usually under a day old. Want pastry? This is where you get it although they run out of it usually by 1900ish. TA and Petro are seeing Country Pride and Iron Skillet going away. China Virus and not changing the menu's for years probably have something to do with that. Been hearing that Golden Corral is going into some Flying J and Pilot's as they are sh.t canning Denny's. Did not get to one while still driving though.

Speaking of truckers, we need more and expanded rest areas for our truckers!

Those guys and gals are scattered all over the creation. The shoulder Interstate 95 is lined up to a mile with trucks having to park on the shoulder because the rest areas are full!
Bruette: That is pretty much true almost anywhere in the USofA. Don't even think of going near LA if you are planning a 10 hour sleep/reset; there just is not anywhere to go. The fly-over states are better as there seems to be more rest area's and Truck Stops/Parking.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 72F and breezy. It's supposed to get up to 88F and humid. The tree has been trimmed so we're as ready as we can be if we get a hurricane this year. Not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow.

There's been a lot of talk of food, some of it sounds interesting and others not so much.

Roxie the skunk thanks everyone for her photo likes.

Snowman- Congratulations on your family's achievements.

Willie- Nice scenes.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Well, howdy there internet people, and those with real taste buds (I wonder about some of you)

It's troy again.

I didn't notice anyone mentioning any of the various sauces made with Ranch dressing. We in the midwest of the USA love our ranch.

I'm not one who puts it on everything, but some things are good with it. I found this version that is similar but not exact to the Blooming Onion sauce at Outback restaurants.

I use it on my onion rings. Might try it on fries or a burger sometime.

In other news, wife and I are trying to get our vacation plans figured out. Previous plans keep getting changed. She said that if I PLAN the trip, I can have a weekend to go to a gaming tournament and break out my little toy soldiers. Right now, the tournament I'd be heading to is in HAMILTON ONTARIO Aug 11-12.

We're thinking of running up through Detroit, crossing the river there. Drive time according to Google is about 5+ hours. So, with Border Backup, and potty stops, that means about a 7 hour drive.

From there, we'll probably head to Niagara Falls and look at the Canadian side. Stop in Fort Eerie, then head back down the North side of Lake Erie and visit the area I'm writing about.

Anyone know of any good train museums, stores, ect in Souther Ontario?

Aloha

Beautiful morning as we approach 10am. We are taking a helicopter tour this afternoon as the expert tour director who lives here fulltime has never taken one. My sister and Terry have had last minute discussions they claim about taking one but never have either. I booked it Friday when we got here and told them at dinner last night. A couple volcanoes (dormant), lava fields, zipping along the beach at 100’, the Molokini crater that we snorkeled yesterday and a few other things. Other then that just relaxing between meals on the lanai

One of the coolest things we did when on the big island was snorkel with the Manta Rays at night. There were probably 100 divers on teh bottom, making a "camp fire" which is a column of their bubbles that rises up in a column. They shine lights up, and the snokelers on top shine lights down, which attracts Krill and bait fish, which in turn attracts the Manta Rays.

Eerily spooky and exciting at the same time. A really cool experience!

Favorite: Road to Hana
2nd Favorite: Helicopter tour of the big Island.
3rd Favorite: Snorkeling with the Manta Rays.

Any of you'se guys that live/lived in the New York City area remember the hot dog vendors with their hot dog carts? A dog with sauerkraut and mustard. There was just something about them that tasted so good. Maybe it was that nasty looking water they were boiled in?
I used to live out in Nassau county and going to Manhattan on day trips always meant getting the New York hot dog on the street...only the best tasting hot dogs in the land😃

Nobody I mean nobody puts ketchup on a hotdog-Dirty Harry. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Well they tend to do many things different in San Francisco. Getting off an Amtrak bus on my western trip in the old town heard a lot of barking...coming from the water. Having cought my attention went toward the water only to find a couple of hundred sea lions hanging out and "barking" out on the docks. Turns out they come in during warmer months and just hang out all summer long there.

My wife swears by that stuff. I haven't tried it yet - not from want of trying either 😁

My father put Ketchup on EVERYTHING.

Easter Ham? Yep...Ketchup.
Fancy Medium Rare steak? Yes, ketchup
Prime Rib... had to have ketchup.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, meatloaf, Pork loin... yep, ketchup.
He would put a piece of bologna and some potato chips between white bread and lather on the... yep, ketchup.
Scrambled eggs? Yep, ketchup
I never saw him put it on fish, though. I guess even my father had limits...
Since we're on "Dirty Harry" quotes:

You HAVE to have sauce (ketchup) with fried fish not to mention salt and vinegar. Grief - battered fish without sauce is like um, well - err well hell, it's like something!!!!
