AT&T - what do you expect from them? I had them for about 4 months and got sick of their rubbish. Took me another 4 months and a lawyer to get rid of them.
Do yourself a favor and get someone else - almost anyone else. Heck my wife and I went back to Trac Phone ($19 a month) and haven't had a service issue yet.
We had Verizon for almost a decade.
Walked into one of their stores to inquire about a plan upgrade (more minutes) using the corp discount the wife received from work.
A (rather young) employee waited on us. Fortunately, he had a name tag. We'd need that in a bit.
Wife starts asking questions. He kind of answers the first one, and figures out we weren't going to be pushovers for whatever he needed to push out the door that day. Third question it all went to pot. That question was almost a repeat of the one before - since dumbarse wasn't answering and was constantly looking toward the people looking at the high-dollar phones.
"I don't have to wait on you if you're being rude."
Wife: "I'm sorry, I don't understand. The paperwork says something different than what you say..."
"I've already told you. Since you're being rude, I won't assist you."
Wife and I looked at each other, rose, went across the street to the AT&T store (which also offered the same corporate discount). An hour later, our phone numbers were ported over. We all got new phones. (Four on our family plan).
The next day, wife called into the Verizon hotline and lodged a complaint against the store employee.
I go in three days later to settle up the remainder of the bill with Verizon. Two people working. Yep. One was dumbarse the rude. I got the other one. After explaining what I needed, they asked for the phone number. I gave it, and he said
"You'll have to have the manager handle this one."
Then turned to Dumbarse, waved him over and pointed to the screen. Yep, the rude dude was the store manager.
I waved him off. "Don't bother. I'll do it online. Don't want to be rude, you know."
Since then, we've had not a problem with AT&T. I suspect, like most other companies, their service - or lack of - is a matter of timing, geography, and luck. (knocks wood).
