OK, let's get the food stuff out of the way!
Peanut butter goes on bread or just a fingertip.
Mayo goes on brown meat - white meat or fish - roast beef, chicken, turkey or tuna and salmon.
Mustard goes on red meat - hot dogs, ham, corned beef, salami, liverwurst.
Catsup goes on vegetables - fried potatoes or onion rings. Can be mixed with horseradish for shrimp sauce.
Sausages & brats are best eaten naked or with BBQ sauce.

That's the easy rules on the SFW estate.

Morning all,

I did take the suggestion (although unknowingly) to take yesterday off. Just after I posted wife asked me what was wrong, I replied with a "You wanna go for a drive?" and so we ended up in the Black Squirrel capitol of Kansas. Although we took the long way as we were just driving to get out of the area. Put about 450 miles on the Equinox. Not sure the wife was completely onboard, but went along anyway. Just someplace we'd never been.

I agree with Karl, mayo only belongs on a BLT, Tuna or Egg salad. I do remember when I thought it was a culture thing when customers would ask for a side of mayo to dip their fries when I worked at Wendy's. Then a locally founded chain has when they call Fry Sauce, which is basically ketchup and mayo mixed together. Wife likes it, but she also has mayo on her brats and hot dogs. I love her anyway. Ketchup on hot dogs depends on the quality of the hotdogs. It is a must on turkey hotdogs. Something in the flavor profile isn't right without it.

I do love me some peanut butter though. Although I prefer the natural, peanuts with a bit of salt gotta stir the oil back into type. Too much sugar and hydrogenated oil in the others.

Patrick: Ya, doing a loop is good for the soul! When I/We get a hair up, usually 300 to 500 miles round trip. Motel and dinner somewhere. It does not happen often, but sometimes we go where the railroad is not! Geesh, it is about time to do the Glacier loop as we have not done that for 4 or 5 years - trucking got in the way.

Hotdogs
: Boy, y'all are finicky - hot dogs right outa the package, still dripping will work. If ya have time - do it right: bun, dog, mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish, onion, [American, Swiss, Gouda ..etc ] cheese nuked for about 20 seconds - yum! Remember to wear a bib. Same with any type sausage. One of the things I loved about trucking - all truck stops have dogs/sausages on the roller just about any time during the day/night. My doc would cringe when I told her about that. Then she happened to stop in Loves ( State Line ID ) and gave one a try. I am not at fault anymore!

Peanut Butter: I had never been a fan of it. Well, until I was told to drop the real butter consumption in half. Ok, so don't like plain toasted bagels of which I gave PB a try. It melts into the toasted bagel and boy oh boy it is good.

Yep! Don't knock it 'til ya try it. 😁

I love to experience different flavours when I cook.
A simple dinner tonight though. Corned Beef Hash. Bring your own bottle. You are all welcome.

David

You realise that now you've said that, someone is going to try it, if they haven't already. :D

So, not Peanut Butter, but once when I was in Ft Wayne Indiana on business the people I was with went to a sports bar/grill for supper and they had a "Nutella Dog". I tried it and it was actually pretty good. They used a good grilled gourmet beef dog and a nice bun with a blob of Nutella. I'd eat it again if I went back. I tried making my own with a non sugar fake Nutella made with sunflower seeds -- it was OK but the spread is not the same.

Mayo is good on BLT, ham, turkey, etc. I had a roommate who had lived in Belgium and liked it with fries. We use almost exclusively Japanese (Cupie) mayo now. It is a far superior taste to standard mayo.

Fry Sauce is a Utah (and Midwest) thing and I like it though I can eat fries with just plain ketchup (catsup). Or any other sauce like Cane's sauce, BBQ, or whatever is handy and what kind of fry it is. Eg, Arby's curly fries need Arby's sauce mixed with ketchup and the Arby's 3 pepper sauce.

My father put Ketchup on EVERYTHING.

Easter Ham? Yep...Ketchup.
Fancy Medium Rare steak? Yes, ketchup
Prime Rib... had to have ketchup.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, meatloaf, Pork loin... yep, ketchup.
He would put a piece of bologna and some potato chips between white bread and lather on the... yep, ketchup.
Scrambled eggs? Yep, ketchup
I never saw him put it on fish, though. I guess even my father had limits...

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 63°. The weather rock is wet. The 0230 bathroom break coincided with thunder and lightning, rained between 0300 and 0500. There's 0.75" in the gauge this morning. i wish now that I had remembered to put the bag of charcoal under cover last night. Charcoal is dry, but the bag will disintegrate if I move it before it dries out. The rain does save me from having to add water to the pool this morning.:)
Interestingly, my wife did not even turn on a single air conditioner yesterday, and the rain came straight down so we didn't have to close any windows last night. I use window units and just cool select rooms when needed.

That overnight rain will dictate plans [?] for today. No yardwork until late afternoon if the wind and sun cooperate. I need a break anyway! Yesterday was a good day in the garden, I picked over 2 lbs. of Green Beans, several more Cherry Tomatoes, a bunch of the side shoots from the Broccoli plants and I sacrificed the first two Carrots to check their progress. They're maybe 1.5" in diameter and 6" long; not bad for my heavy clay soil. I'll see what this rain does for them since it's not too hot for the plants yet. Regular Tomatoes everywhere, but it's still about 10-12 days before they're historically ready.

I did find time to do some modeling yesterday out in the train shed. I added tall weeds and some foliage bunches around the small stagnant water hole.

Added more trees to those I added Friday and Saturday.

I'll study this for a few days before continuing. I already know that I will add a discarded tire or two, some broken branches, along with some other debris. This ain't Baltimore or Detroit though, so no bodies.
Over on the workbench, I rehabbed a structure from Chet that lost a part somewhere.

That upper corner post was not in the box anywhere, so I cut out and moved the center one over. Easier than carving a new one, and that roof doesn't need as much support!

Today I will add steps to the side door and back porch, which I believe remained attached to his layout.

Tony - Your comment yesterday about a well done steak reminded me that when I worked as a cook in a well-known (but now defunct) steak place during college; when a customer ordered a well done steak, they got the worst steak that we could dig out of the box. I recently asked a friend's college age son who works at Texas Roadhouse, whether that is still the case, and he confirmed that that's what they are trained to do there.
Karl - there's probably no backyard shed big enough to contain all of the clutter from a garage.
Troy - My, My, My! That pizza certainly looks fantastic.
Louis - Yes I am a cheese monger! Yesterday for example, I had sliced American cheese on my Liverwurst sandwich for lunch. Wife and I had slices of Brick and Gouda with Summer Sausage for an appetizer/cocktails. Then I made a Parmesan/Panko/herb crusted Salmon dish with Broccoli and cheese sauce side! Yes I love cheese.
When I buy hotdogs, I buy Nathan's All Beef.
Patrick -

Easy enough to make yourself, just roast some peanuts and put them into a food processor. Add salt to taste. Getting it out of the food processor can be a trick though.

Everybody have a great day.

Good morning everyone!

Happy Monday! Looks like were in for a cooling trend this week. We will be out of the 90s and into the upper 70s low 80s through the week.

Really wish for a few more days of the 90s. I need to get my pool water a little warmer. It was pretty cold swimming Saturday, but with the solar cover raised several degrees, and was fairly comfortable yesterday.

Enjoy your day all!

SWMBO has a nut allergy which also extends to peanuts, so my peanut butter consumption is limited to my own stash in the basement. Still eat it often, on Ritz crackers and also on Thomas's English muffins, all hot and gooey!

I also dip pretzel stick in PB !

She has Sunbutter, a PB substitute. I've tried it, it's ok I guess but its not the same.

Nutella does not enter our house. She's allergic and I frankly don't like it.

Willie, so true. I would put the entire back yard under roof, but the Mrs would find a way to fill it.

Nutella is mostly chocolate and sugar. Sugar is listed as the first ingredient. That said, it does taste good on toast, as does peanut better. My favorite way (to eat peanut butter) is on a hot buttered toasted English muffin, real butter, not margarine. I have to watch though, sometimes too much peanut butter, or too many other nuts) give me gut cramps. I suspect I may be slightly allergic to them.

I have only indentionally eaten ketchup once. I was a bosun mate on a 180 foot buoy tender. We had put to sea to ride out hurricane Beaulah. The Gulf was wild. Huge swells breaking over the bow, no one was allowed on weather decks. The anemometer broke at 160 mph, Only 5 of the 55 man crew didn't get seasick. I was one of the 5. I got a runny fried egg sandwich with lots of ketchup and into the berthing area. I nearly got run over from the stampede of people running for the head. I was tempted to go into officer's country but was advised not to.
