Good day all. It is a warm, sunny day. 14C.
A couple of jobs around the house to do then off shipspotting at the Port of Tyne.
Hopefully, just hopefully I shall see the train room later.

Good morning gang!

Bright sunny and hot out there today. Trailer is hooked to the truck for a dump run, then to pick up Homasote, glue, and paint.

Louis, Another place nearby was the “Lucky Spirits” IIRC. It was a biker bar kinda place but the ladies we quite attractive.

Also you reminded me.. I went to my endocrinologist this week, my A1c is down to 6.2 ! BP and cholesterol numbers are good too! For once I’m doing something right. Weight is also down to 203 fully dressed, another 20 pounds since last visit. Must be the Jardiance!

Well howdy there internet peeples... and those down in the "dump"

It's Troy again.

I signed up for a 3d Printing STL service from a fav game company. Yesterday's printing:

Those are for a game at 1:700 scale. Think of Gimli the dwarf from Lord of the Rings, commanding a bunch of ships manned by dwarves!

They don't need no stinking sales. They'd have figured out steam power!

I'm printing up the Orc ship right now. It's a big brute with a claw on the front for grabbing and bashing.

Remember I said the wife was getting a tenderloin last week? Here's the pic. She says this little hole in the wall doesn't beat them as flat as others, and they melt in your mouth. And the breading is spicier, like fried chicken breading.

Gotta go get my walk in. Type at you later.

Don't forget when the trains aren't running, there is railfanning (of sorts) right up the street at Haven Place, Sherries Show bar and one other place IIRC at Haven & Lombard Streets! ( . )( . )
Haven & Lombard...That was the place with all the Harleys parked outside. Then there was Stanleys, in the Triangle above the Pulaski Hwy, and the hole in the wall on Kresson St. across from Orangeville EH.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 63°, considerably lower than the past week. High today only expected to reach the mid-80's. We still have thunderstorm chances for the next four days, and according to my weather rock, there was moisture overnight. While the rain gauge is wet, it's not enough to measure; the Weather Underground station around the corner shows 0.04". He's got a better gauge than I!

Cloud service - I turn that off on any and all equipment that I use. I am not convinced of it's security, or it's usefulness yet.

The Green Bean harvest went well in the garden yesterday. First picking is enough for two full meals. Onion harvest is continuing and a general clean up of that area has started. Both Yellow and Zucchini Squash by mid week coming up.
Pool start up continues, more slowly than I would like. Having a more severe algae buildup than normal. I'll be back to mowing today, depending on the possible rain, after a day off yesterday

Slow but steady and varied day out in the train shed yesterday. I touched up and completed a few more figures since I still have hem out on the workbench. I planted some more trees in the overgrown lot on the layout. I dull coated a few Oxford vehicles and scattered them around the layout, and did some general clean up and organizing. Found a stash of detail parts that I had forgotten about, so I will be looking for places to use them.
Nothing was worthy of any new pictures yet, so back to the archives. Along the rails seems to be a popular subject, so I will bore you with a few more.

Tom O - Nice views. Part of it almost looks like a golf course.
Chris - Those Gold Rush Bay models really do look interesting. Unfortunately none of them will fit my locale.
Jeff - Great looking paint job on the Victorian mansion. Nice setting as well.
Patrick - One reason that I never got a cell phone while I was still working was so I would never get those annoying calls from work when I was not there. Funny thing is though, they never tried to call me on the land line for some reason!
Karl - Congratulations on the A1c score.

Everyone have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Good morning. It's cloudy and 76.
Today seems to be "Surprise Saturday".
This morning, I stopped at the park office and got my account set up. The account is useful for paying lot rent, reporting problems, and finding out about things going on that I need to know about. I then headed out to the Post Office to get a physical Change of Address Kit, since the online version, which charged me $1.60 to do, won't accept sub-addresses like lot numbers.
Surprise! The Post Office is now closed on Saturday! So, I'll have to go back during the week to get one.
Next, I got home, and was notified my Apple Card statement was ready. I used that to get my replacement watch, since they offered 0% financing, or $16/month for the watch.
Surprise! The bill is for $43 instead of $16. There was a very terse series of text messages, and about the time I was ready to tell them to close my account and piss off, they suggested the extra might be for the sales tax. For some reason, that wasn't included in the original purchase, and it was indeed added after the fact as a separate purchase not covered by the 0% interest term. After I pay the extra this month to cover the tax, the remainder should be $16.
Finally, I was able to access my shiny new account at the trailer park.
Surprise! There is an additional $40 balance on the account. And the office didn't immediately answer the phone when I called. When I finally got hold of somebody, they told me there is a $40 application fee. Why they didn't tell me that when I dropped off my payment a couple of weeks ago, they couldn't tell me. They suggested waiting a week or so, and see if it's removed. Somehow I doubt it...
Now, for the good news:
I have the layout back up and connected to everything, and I'm re-placing all the stuff on it that wasn't glued down. Things should be back to normal with it in a couple of hours, as long as Murphy doesn't visit. And while I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony...

Karl, that is fantastic news! Keep up the excellent work. I'm not surprised, you keep busier than a one arm wallpaper hanger. You can have your favorite beverage, I'm buying!

My blood pressure is great. My cholesterol is low. But that damn A1C keeps going up and down! I get near 7 then I'm back over 9. They tell me Pancreatitis caused my diabetes and that can make it difficult to get diabetes under control.

I'm down to 255, I'm still 6'8, I hope, I used to be 6'9". At my peak, when I played ball, I weighed 328lbs and I had only 14% body fat. I had a 54" chest and 36" waist. I never liked to work out or lift weights. I kept busy, working, and playing hard. I was country strong and fast! Now I'm slow, fat, and happy. I look in the mirror after my shower and wonder. WTF, gravity is a bitch!

I have upper and lower back problems, bad hips, and bad knees. I had too much fun! They say I need at least five more surgeries and two more on my shoulders. Not me, no more surgery. I've had too many complications from surgeries, blood clots, viral pneumonia, and others. Maybe if I can no longer walk, I'll think about it. I tell the doctors "Pain never killed anybody". One occasional regular strength, acetaminophen works wonders. My pain is best managed by my mind.

Pancreatitis is what really holds me back. I do too much physical activity and I literally work the crap out of myself. They tell me that it is more dangerous than diabetes. Twenty-five years ago, they told me I had no more than 5 years left. Twenty + years ago, they gave me weeks to live. I'm still here! Now they don't know what to say, and they say a lot! I say "tough titty, makes a strong baby"

I recently switched to Jardiance. I have to go back to see if it is working. I also take Metformin, Glimepiride, and Trulicity for diabeties. And more for other things, thirteen pills a day.

I'll get on top of this. The more I lose, the more I want to play!

Biker Bars, I never got along with bikers. I find it hard to respect guys who need a gang. I knew one cool guy who was in the Pagens. He was a business associate, I'm ashamed to say. Until my friend Willy told me what the 1% patch on his jacket meant. I avoided him after that. Somethings are more important than sales. I thought I was so cool and knew everything. Later I found out what it really means to think you know everything.

Attractive ladies can be found everywhere, thank God. But you are right, some spots are better than others!

I thank God every day that I found the only beautiful lady I will ever want or need. I know you understand how that feels. How did we get so lucky?

Focus on the good things. You can't do much about the others.

What are you going to name your pony? I always think positively.

It’s not a really a golf course in the view. It’s my brother’s “front yard” down to the roofs of the houses between his property edge and the beach. He does have 2 practice golf greens and a bunch of sand traps that he can use. He can hit balls from just off the lanai to either green and putt or hits balls from the traps. It’s a different life style from what we are used to. From the lanai the property drops about 100’. He has around 20 acres.

Picture from yesterday. This is the catamaran that will take us out to the crater so we can snorkel on Sunday.

this is the crater that we will snorkel. Best picture I can find is a screen shot from google earth until hopefully I get something decent on Sunday. Thankfully no discussion of playing golf.

Louis, I'll take a Mountain Dew Zero sugar please! Yes I too have shrunk over the years. I used to be 6'2, now 6'1, never really noticed it until the spinal work (fusion, plates and screws) was done. But hey, its ok, my neck no longer hurts like it did! Pancreatitis sounds like no fun!
As far as luck goes, we were blessed. Even though I have friends that tell me that even a blind pig finds a truffle now and then.

TomO The crater looks like an awesome place. Just be mindful of bubbles or a sudden increase in water temp. The dont sleep forever!

Time to cut Homasote. This could be messy!

I am with you Willie - if I can't keep something on my computer or a stand alone hard drive next to it, then I don't need it that badly. :)

Biker Bars, I never got along with bikers.

Louis, I guess then we will not get along then ... I ride a Harley every chance I get and am considered a "biker" because I do. I know a great many people who ride, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, a lot of cops and military etc etc etc. Just because we own and ride a bike, inparticularly a Harley, does not mean we are apart of some Outlaw 1% Biker gang. Quite a lot of us are apart of what is called the HOG (Harley Owners Group) in fact, I am a life member.

Please don't throw everyone who rides a motor bike into the "Outlaw Biker Gang" group just because we ride a bike for enjoyment and relaxation.

In so far as the Bikers Bar goes - there are Biker Bars and there are Biker Bars. One that I go to (occasionally) is owned by a girl who rides and who welcomes those who ride bikes - she provides a place where we can go and sit and relax and talk about bikes, the trips we have done, the up and coming Volunteer Present Run to collect presents for under privileged kids, and/or food runs to collect food especially around christmas time. Other ventures to collect money for a fellow riders family who have suffered some set back. Biker Bars are not all the same so don't assume that just because a place (a bar) is referred to as a biker bar that it deals in illegalities or is full of unsavory people.

Then there are the 1% Biker Bars that are pretty much owned by them and where only those members are welcomed.

As for being part of a gang and not having respect for people who do belong to a gang/group - don't we all, in some way, belong to a Gang/Group called model train enthusiasts? Or what about the old folks who join the Bingo at the Club House group each Saturday night?

As said mate, I have been riding for 30 years this year and will continue to do so. If people want to call me a biker, and call me that in the right context, then I am happy to be called it. ;)

I have good news to report about my friend Willy.

He sat up for forty minutes and has been working his hands and arms with free weights!

Thank God!
I do not know what motivated him, but I am glad, especially for you as I know it gave you so much angst, hopefully it’s a permanent turning point, I guess your still visiting regularly talking him up.

encourage every little improvement, longer time, exercised, heavier weights if applicable, less exhaustion (as he has not exercised this will unfortunately be short BUT should yield much quicker rewards hopefully encouraging him, if he is needing muscle encourage him to eat meat protein eggs, chicken beef blah blah, wriggly his toes lifting his feet and holding stretching the toes are good for avoiding cramps one leg at a time until he is getting into the swing (my dad had this as an issue, and despite his high blood pressure had salt sodium/potassium but as Willy is still in hospital?/ the medical staff should hopefully be monitored which way to jump.
try a high five when you see him ;)

There are bikers and there are biker gangs. Two different things. I should have been clearer.

I'm not certain of the bar Karl spoke of. But there were many biker gang bars in southeast Baltimore. I wore a leather biker jacket. Mine had no colors on it. I drove a 4-door Olds Omega. It drew no attention. If I went into a biker gang bar it was often either, be recruited or fight. I never shied away from fights, but I didn't go looking for them either. Most biker gangs are always looking to prove something, and they tend to take everything personally. If I was in a biker bar it was strictly business. Get in, get out, no trouble, no attention.

I have many friends who ride. I can include you too now. They are good people one and all!

I don't have anything against people who join peaceful clubs or organizations. In fact, I was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. My Mom's husband was a member and he wanted me to join. I did because I liked what they stood for.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international non-profit organization, unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope
I was bored. Old guys sitting around drinking beer. I liked beer, just not sitting with old guys drinking.

Bottom line: I have no problem getting along with you Tony. You old biker! ;)

That's great news, happy to hear that.

I'm so glad. Now he is moving towards getting out of that nursing home!

I can't say what motivated him. I stopped calling him as much. I told him "It's breaking my heart to hear you are just lying in bed" I did not have it in me to be mean to him. He knows me well. If you don't hear from me, it usually means I'm not doing well, or I don't want to talk to you.

I told everybody he knew to call him and tell him how happy we all are.
