Howdy all, 83 here and heading for 89 today. I've been up for a while, testing locomotives and making notes before I head for the train store. A couple I want to test on their test track a couple that don't want to cooperate. Also have a very tough to find Rock Island loco and the shop owner is a huge Rock fan and I don't know if he has this one. LadyC went to meet a friend, they are heading to Branson for a few days of laughing and attack shopping. You guys have a great day.

Good morning from Wisconsin. 59f degrees now 90 later. Winds are calm and tomorrow our temperatures become more seasonal at 78! The 10 day forecast is showing a high of 84 on any of those days and quite a few chances of needed rain.

No granddog to walk at 6 this morning. He must be up at his house with the daughter and family

The DNR texted yesterday that a family of bears are possibly in the area. So I need to find the bear spray or just go buy some. I have been walking on the machine that goes nowhere but I would like to get outside again since nicer temperatures are coming. All the trails on our property pretty much on through the woods. I don’t need to meet a momma bear and her cubs

I would suggest a large bore handgun be carried. .44 Magnum at least. If you are forced to carry a smaller caliber file off the front sight. it won't improve accuracy, but it will hurt less when the bear shoves it up your a--

My location is now under a flood advisory, since we’ve had 3 inches of rain since 9:00 AM, and they expect another 2 inches of rain in the next hour and a half.

I think the dude is still touring occasionally. Not long ago I saw an ad on FB for upcoming tour tickets.

Well, howdy there internet peeps.

Finally got around the spring chore of pulling the rubber/vinyl/whatever floor mats out of the Toyota and hosing them down, then vacuuming the floor, then wiping down the dash and the door frames.

After that I walked back to the basement and caught a whiff of stale cat pee. He uses a throw rug in the stairway when he get's storm scared. Sometimes also a few days after because when he gets anxious his bladder acts up (Not Crystals, we had the vet check). He's got arthritis, so weather ups and downs do bother him like big booms and lightning).

i usually try to spot treat the rug, but this was one time too many, so I took it outside. Good thing I've been watching all of those rug cleaning videos.

In other news, I'm gluing little toy soldiers to bases, to try to clear the major project on the hobby desk. Nothing like cat pee on a rug to make me want to retreat to hobby stuff.

After that, I'll get the caulk gun out and start laying more roadbed on the layout.

Good afternoon. Still hot up here with a high fire danger. We have been lucky in that the ones we had were apparently quickly contained.

I have been trying to get exercise in before it gets hot. The dogs keep wanting outside and once thet do what they have to do, they just want to sit in the sun.
During and after chemo there were times when walking a mere 50 feet was hard. I will have to thank the dogs as we have been going on longer and longer walks. We have bee going up to the Libby Dam recreational area quite often. They do have to be on a leash up there, but they still cover a lot of ground and I get exercise just holding onto the leash and following them. There is a dog park in town where they can be let off leash and is a little over 2 acres. One of them, Molly has to play fetch. She is addicted to chasing a ball. She sure can move for having such short legs,

Willie - You did a nice job bringing that market back. I was worried about how it would make the trip. I enjoyed putting it together and it was sort of a centerpiece in that town.

I did get some work done on that shelf module. The ballast finally came. It was almost a mess. I have no real work area except for the kitchen table and a lot of the tools I no longer have. Her I masked off the spaces where pavement and where buildings will sit. The post off and the IGA will sit oj the platform on the right. I used the contact cement glue these down.

Once these were glued down, a test fit for the structures worked out. The area where the gas pumps are and where the trucks are loaded have to have a concrete area, not asphalt, as fuel would dissolve it. The area between the tracks and the road will have "grass" but I am waiting for a guard rail to arrive. Merry Christmas?

Then came putting the gravel down. I wasn't looking forward to this, but it went well.

A drying time and a good cleanup done, time to place the buildings in.

The space between the cafe and the houses will be a bunch of trees.

I have to go and get started on something for dinner. Whenever possible, I make something that can provide a number of additional meals so I can be lazy once in a while. Today is one of those days.

We can seriously use some of that rain.
This has been one of the driest years on record. At the end of this month the snow pack is only at 14% of normal, so basically none.

More than 1.3 million acres have already burned across Oregon as of late July. They're estimating it will exceed 2 million acres by the end of the fire season......setting a new record.

Early voting does vary widely from state to state. When comparing mid-term elections between states, I noted that Wisconsin has an early voting percentage of 16% as reported from the mid-terms of 2022, Here in Texas, people like to cast their ballots in person, it's a social event! Our rate in 2022 was just 4.5% early voting in that mid-term year. Here, all early/absentee voting requires an excuse, such as disabled, elderly, overseas military or within 3 weeks of a pregnancy due date. No unexcused excuses! I don't know about your states rules, but I imagine that they are more lenient. Maybe peoples choices will change after this years disaster.

Don't look now, but it's been happening for at least three decades now! Nothing ever disappears on the Internet, even when sites cease to exist. That's what the "Wayback Machine" is all about. And I'm not talking about Mr. Peabody's Machine from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

I agree. but 20 years ago or so AI bots where not so active. Info collection is now more intense than ever.
About 11 or 12 years ago I was on Fakebook. I got off that platform after about 3 months. I could not believe the amount of info some folks poured out about themselves to the other "friends" they had. I guess they thought they were having a private and personal conversation with friends on their account only....WRONG. I usually just said Hell-o to my friends and discussed politics as politics was not censored back then.
As the old saying goes......."loose lips sink ships".

That seemed to be our pattern last summer. Everything came towards us and seemed to go to the north and south.

This year were just not getting anything coming our way. I'm not complaining too much since I only have to mow every 7-8
days VS this spring when we were mowing every 4 days and it seemed that was not enough.
