Good Thursday morning, Coffee Shop! It's 64°F (18°C) and clear.

Weather is predicted to be clear with a low temperature around 66F. Dew point will be around 60F with an average humidity of 79%. Winds will be 3 mph from the N.

Have a great day! ;)

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with WayBack Machines in their secret labs,

It's Sherm.... errrr... Troy again

Currently 57 F-degrees in the fort. That's a whopping 14 Canadian Degrees (the C is for Canada, right?)

100% Humidity, so I'll wait a few hours before heading out for the morning stroll.

If you're looking for a good book on Early Canadian history (post forming of the dominion), based around the struggles of getting the CP Railroad built, but it's mostly about the people that got it rolling, their background - warts and all. I'm into Part 3 of the book, and we still haven't driven a spike yet. Be warned, it's more people and the history of the time than railroad.

In other news, I'm itching to get back into a game. Now I regret selling off one of my old armies. So, I went shopping on Fleabay and purchases some stuff... I only need about half of this stack. But if I purchased the stuff I needed at retail, I'd need pay more than I paid the seller.

I need to finish getting the roadbed down on the layout. The little army dudes can wait a while. My goal is to spend a day a week working on track, and a day working on little army dudes.

Nothing new to report. Probably cook some chicken on the grill tonight. I do boneless, skinless. Not whole chickens. Neither the wife nor I want to mess with canning stock, so having the carcass of a spatchcock chicken around is pointless. I prefer to let someone else do the work of getting rid of that.

gas explosion
Propane. All gas systems have an automatic shutoff valve. If there is a big enough earthquake the main gas to the house/business gets shut off. They are checking to see if it worked or not. Since there was no ensuing fire, I'm guessing it was whatever was left in the lines.

Yeah, the place blew over an hour after the earthquake. The customers were all gone and only the shop workers were around. They were all told to go home, so only a few were around, probably locking up or getting their stuff.

Good morning from Wisconsin. 59f degrees now 90 later. Winds are calm and tomorrow our temperatures become more seasonal at 78! The 10 day forecast is showing a high of 84 on any of those days and quite a few chances of needed rain.

No granddog to walk at 6 this morning. He must be up at his house with the daughter and family

The DNR texted yesterday that a family of bears are possibly in the area. So I need to find the bear spray or just go buy some. I have been walking on the machine that goes nowhere but I would like to get outside again since nicer temperatures are coming. All the trails on our property pretty much on through the woods. I don’t need to meet a momma bear and her cubs

Enjoy the day

Morning all,

Miss a day, miss a lot.

Kusojiji: I was just thinking of Ren & Stimpy the other day...I was sad when they killed that show.

Had several meetings yesterday over the various projects we're involved with and wasn't able to get time to get in. We put move the fiber links in an expanded park today. Should be a relatively easy (famous last words) process.

Supposedly we may have rain and\or thunderstorms today with a high of 98°. Of course on Saturday, when I have to work in the morning, it is supposed to be cooler with a high of 89°. So much for mowing.

try to BBL

Park rangers are advising hikers and campers in national parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter.

They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance, so they won’t be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them, which might cause a bear to charge.

Visitors are told they should also carry a pepper spray can just in case they encounter a bear. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear’s sensitive nose and it will run away.

It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear droppings so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognise the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat.

Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.

Jersey Mike’s IPO is today. Great sub shop that seems to be very profitable for the franchise owners. Generally thought of as a well run business. It’s kind of quiet because of the market down turn this week and the downturn may hurt JMKE’s IPO! Initial buy is $23 a share! Just bad timing which may mean a good buy if you can access the offering via your broker or online account.

If you can next buy next week maybe a good time for any purchase. I’m sure Washington will say something today, it’s is conspiracy Thursday after all and calm the markets. Which actually should be done. Buy low if you can and if you’re retired don’t look at your stocks this week!

Have fun

This is exactly why I don't post that much anymore and when I do, it is brief and of a "general" nature.
I don't like the thought of AI overlooking and combing through my info and making it public knowledge, especially since they don't compensate me for the info they steal.
And for those posting info about firearms and personal investments, don't you ever wonder where that info goes after being collected by the AI bots? Data centers sell your info to all sorts of agencies.

Just my feelings/opinions...........John
Which are 100% accurate. Out here in the interwebs we are all product, nothing more. I don't think there's a way around that other than to go dark.

Morning All! 67 in the Brew City this morning, going to 87 later. Got zero zilch, nada done yesterday, but did get a long walk, almost three miles done, as well as a few other things upstairs taken care of. Got the vet for one of the cats, the doctor for my 6 month Medicare checkup, and the club tonight, so it's unlikely I'll get to anything down there again today. Lifer happens I guess. 🤷‍♀️ I am formulating storage plans and areas though, as it's always easier if you have a plan!

Sierra West Scale Models has a new kit out which I will confess to lusting after. That guy does such beautiful stuff. I haven't ordered it yet, but I'm weakening! He's doing amazing things with 3D printed details.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a warm 79°, maybe hitting 100° later on. Didn't hit that high yesterday, off by 1° lower. I can forgive the NWS for that minor discrepancy. Still forecast to be cooler this weekend, just 96°.

Ran the dishwasher last night, so that awaits me after the weekly grocery trek this morning. It will be a quick trip since the cooler is with my wife in the other car. I'm taking some ice packs and a cardboard box for the refrigerated stuff.

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was basically a repeat of the last few days. Attaching connectors to the lighting buss and upgrading some other wiring that I find. To liven things up a bit, over at the workbench, I sorted through the newly found figure sets from last week and added them to the figure box. I also took out the figure painting stuff to do on breaks from being under the layout. During the last go-around of layout cleaning/improvement, I identified several buildings that had no figures or needed additional ones. Many of the new figures are "everyday people" and will go just about anywhere. Just wish that I had made a list instead of having to try to remember which structures they are!

Todd -
Oh, and the genealogy came through on Lil - she is now sucking water.
Finally figured out that she can get more in, in less time.
Tom O - Already made the mistake of checking my brokerage accounts yesterday, before yesterday's results were posted. Definitely won't look today after the tanking yesterday! The Jersey Mike's IPO is probably a good investment, but I stay away from all IPO's as a general rule.
On the political front, being as non-political as I can be. It looks like an interesting governor's primary in your state with all of the folks who have dropped out; but are still on the ballot in one party. Add to that those early voters who can't withdraw their ballots being thrown into the mess.

Legendary blues singer and guitarist Buddy Guy turns 90 today. He inspired many great guitarists.

Everyone have a great Thursday.

Good morning all!

Currently a sunny 70F. Today is supposed to be the warmest of the week with the high of 87F. At least the humidity isn't terrible.

Have a few things to do around the house this morning. A couple loads of laundry and get the dishwasher emptied from last night/
Probably a few more oddball things as well.

Tonight is my daughters last volleyball league game. It is a little less than an hour away. Last game is at 6:20 so we shouldn't be out
too late tonight I hope. Glad this is over and the rest of the summer should be sports/practice free.

Have a safe day everyone!

I’m very extremely tempted to order the Crawford and Ernst at the Riverfront for a diorama build? Which one r you looking at buying

The governorship here is now one party giving the other party a free ticket to the front door. Just crazy. I can’t believe people want to recall their vote. You voted early live with it

I wasn’t paying any attention to TV media as usual this just building a forest of trees! Looked last night at my portfolio and asked Terry what the heck caused this drop. She laughed. Yeah it’s bad! Just have to wait it out

JMKE should be a good buy. But my rule is wait 4-6 months then decide. I will do that here again…

Good morning folks. 78°F/69°F this morning. Dewpoint is bumped up a bit, but the temp should remain below 90°F today. Rain is coming tomorrow with a high expected of only 78°F. Might even be a little cooler out here in the sticks.

It was a beautiful day yesterday and Willow is still sleeping it off. Never seen her this tuckered out before. A tired dog is a good dog though. Nothing on my plate today. After cutting grass yesterday I did laundry so everything is out of the way for the rest of the week.

Have a great Donnerstag.

Servus!
