Which one are you guys finding the best to use?
Here’s my take on the 3 Ai that I have tested and used

Use ChatGPT when you need an assistant for daily tasks, quick prototyping, or hands-free voice chat

Use Claude when you are writing formal prose, editing text to sound natural, or building/debugging complex code structure

Use Gemini when you are digging through massive documents, analyzing diagrams/videos, or working directly within Google Drive/Docs

I seldom employ Claude and now after a 8 week paid trial when I do it’s the free version basically looking for a cross check of what Gemini has given me

ChatGPT I really like but after a 4 week testing of the paid version I only use the free version for coding SVG files for laser cutting building components for scale model structures. The additional features were not worth it for me. Seldom anything else

I find Gemini the most versatile for my uses and offers the quickest response times though they all have been decently fast. The paid version is $20 per month, if there is a limit on creation of images I haven’t hit it. I dislike anything Google but I went all in on this. I use Google Drive/Docsbevery day

I don’t use voice features with any of the 3

I use DuckDuckGo as my search engine and any of the 3 Ai programs I mentioned run rings around the info given back by the search engine. The biggest difference to me the almost instant responses and a much more in depth response from Ai

YMMV

Reason I asked is I was looking for ideas to bash 2 Walthers Champion Packing kits into one so I asked AI. I don't remember which assistant I used, but it wasn't helping. None of the assistants you mention ring a bell, so maybe it was a generic one. It kept telling me it was one of the most "kit bash able" structures and kept giving me a photo of the actual kit from Walthers website.

I tries using different wording like show examples, what others had done, how would you arrange these 2 kits. Things like that and was not having any luck. I didn't stick with it too long as I was in the middle of something else.

With DuckDuckGo do you ever use the Duck.ai? Do you know what is backing it?

I mainly use ChatGPT. It’s been very good at debugging old code and helping me understand technologies and how to use them with my DCC app code.

It’s also been useful in understanding some basic legal stuff and guiding me to sources for that. I cross check everything against Gemini. I have the $5 Gemini basic non-free plan (something like Google One?) and the $20 ChatGPT plan. I cross check both against the other.

I’m currently planning the writing of a series of adventure books and ChatGPT has been greatly helping in leading this world building and prep. I told it it is the lead and asks questions and I provide the ideas. It helps organize it. I’m not using AI to generate any of the actual prose or the main ideas. It’s helping me get organized.

Again I use Gemini to cross check things.

Yes I have used the DDG Ai app. One of the Ai used by Duck.Ai is Claude which is a Anthropic owned company. It’s owned by a Long Term Benefit Trust. That means there is no one major stock holder. . I know that Amazon and Google from memory were part of the initial investment group. When I found out it would be years before an IPO happened I quit my research.

You can choose in the Duck.Ai drop down which one to use

I think Troy will confirm with CHATGPT you made the right choice for your writing adventures

If I was in my 50’s with few bills I would dump every extra $$$ I could in public Ai stocks backed by Bezos or Google.

That’s interesting that Duck.ai lets you choose. I don’t know if I knew that. I mostly use it on my phone. On my Mac I just use ChatGPT directly or then Google AI (which is different then Gemini).

My phone defaults to DuckDuckGo for searches but I think my Mac defaults to Google because I had problems finding technical coding stuff as easily with DuckDuckGo (the search engine) in the past (pre LLM).

With the writing, because ChatGPT has been working with me on lots of previous stuff including software projects, its structure the book prep and world building kind of like a technical project and now an engineer would approach stuff. It’s kind of interesting. I set up a repository for all the files and it’s embraced that and organized it so we can track canon, working canon, and undecided / unknown stuff about the world. Timelines. Characters. Etc. Also places for drafts of the writing when we start that. Including a folder where we document each major decision and how it was made.

The repository (git) also does version control and change tracking.

It’s been an interesting experience so far.

Keep your ChatGPT as you use it now. It keeps memories of what you have previously done. The ChatGPT vupiaxDucjpk. Ai ifvInremember correctly are just individual chats with no memory.

This is exactly why I don't post that much anymore and when I do, it is brief and of a "general" nature.
I don't like the thought of AI overlooking and combing through my info and making it public knowledge, especially since they don't compensate me for the info they steal.
And for those posting info about firearms and personal investments, don't you ever wonder where that info goes after being collected by the AI bots? Data centers sell your info to all sorts of agencies.

Just my feelings/opinions...........John

Good evening gang!

Been a crazy day. work was weird. Got home and the garage door would not go up or down except by 1 hard wired switch. None of the remotes worked. I relearned all the remotes, still no joy. Climbed up the ladder and after poking around found one of the wires hooked to the electric eyes had backed out of its connector. Fixed that issue then went to go get ethanol free gas for Grandsons 4 wheeler. 2 stations in the area claimed to have it. After a half hour ride to find out nobody has it, I finally scored a gallon at Tractor Supply. I'm almost embarrassed to say what I paid for it. $19.95 for 1 gallon of 92 Octane Ethanol free fuel. WoW!

Came home and did some wordsmithing on my next article for RMC. I got a little done, but I did tire of it. Maybe a little more tomorrow? That's how you eat an elephant right? A little at a time?

Code red is calling, and I deserve it!

Don't look now, but it's been happening for at least three decades now! Nothing ever disappears on the Internet, even when sites cease to exist. That's what the "Wayback Machine" is all about. And I'm not talking about Mr. Peabody's Machine from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

I have a question about the times listed for posts. Are they "Zulu" (Coordinated Universal Time)? Understandable with modelers overseas. Just wondering.
I think each post's time stamps are in your own (the reader's) timezone. They're probably stored in UTC (Zulu) time, but rendered on screen in your own time zone, which your browser knows and which the forum knows for you

We had a M7.1 earthquake yesterday afternoon in Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu. The big news is that it caused an explosion in the AEON shopping mall that caused the 2nd floor to collapse. This area was hit 10 years ago which caused damage to the Kumamoto castle. This time, a moat wall was damaged and I haven't heard much on the castle itself.

There were propane tanks on the property which didn't blow, luckily.

Speculation the explosion at the Aeon mall was a gas explosion. And from the account I read, it was a bit after the earthquake. They’d already evacuated the mall but some role, likely workers were still there. Either gas was not turned off in stores or some gas pipes were damaged in the earthquake. Pretty dramatic photos of the mall

I not seen photos of other damage but I think there was probably a lot. 7.1 is a hefty quake.
