Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 80°. While the cool front brought a high of only 94° yesterday, the cloudiness held the warmth in overnight. A bit warmer today at 98°, then a triple-digit return on Saturday.

This was what I faced this morning.

Nothing special about the grocery trek yesterday, some food items are coming down in price, notably beef by about 50¢/lb. Everything else seems stable. Gas prices continue to go up, $3.79/gal in most places. The dishwasher didn't magically empty itself while we were gone, so that greeted me after putting everything up and eating lunch.
I am hoping to get a bit of yard work in this morning, despite the warm start of today. Nothing particular in mind, but I like being outdoors in any weather and there's always something to do. I do have pool maintenance to do, but that won't take but 15 minutes.

Nothing special out in the train shed yesterday. Ran some trains, repaired a freight car that was damaged by the cat. Minor damage to the end cage of an Accurail covered hopper. That is the only damage from 5 days of the frantic kitten trapped in there. Still mulling over what project that I want to tackle next; should I start a big one or just do a bunch of smaller ones? I have some of each on the to do list. During one "search for something" adventure last week, I came across another half dozen packs of Woodland Scenics/Preiser painted figure sets that I had forgotten about, so I need to sort through them and find places for as many as possible. Again, no shortage of locations. They all appear to be sets that my grandkids got me for some occasion. All three of the local ones live within 5 miles of Discount Model Trains and they all love to peruse through the various racks of pre-painted figures.

Louis - Good news about the feet. I hope that all of your other ailments follow suit.
Tom O - Sleep issues? For over ten years after I retired, I tried unsuccessfully to alter my ~9p-4a sleep cycle. Then earlier this year, it finally took hold and I now sleep from ~11p to 6a. I have found that I don't like it and want to go back to the old routine! Hasn't been working in my favor though.

Everyone have a fine Friday.

Good Morning All!
63F @ 60% almost 100F yesterday, close to that again today.

@santafewillie I have been a 9p to 3 or 4a sleeper like forever. It has been good over the years as I get more done in the am vs any other time. There was pain when doing rotating/split shifts working for KACC of which I walked around like a zombie for those 5 or 6 years. Thought about trying to change, but nope. To think of all those years of people telling me '8 hours sleep' is needed. Garbage. I do sleep a little longer maybe 2 times a month just for those people.

Be out and masking the windows in the Chick/Goat house in a bit - then paint it is. Still todo's: Interior separator walls, light and associated wiring, deck, wire enclosure on the chicken end to keep things in/out. Probably more, depends on Maria.

Welp, think I should by a Lotto ticket. Got a summons for Jury Duty. 1st time in 70 years. No idea of the case, will find out more on the 12th; that is if I get past the 1st interview....

Feel the need to yell and scream about your troubles? Suggest a corn field. No judgement and all ears.

Michael: Are you looking pages in 'Dark Mode'? Logo has a transparent background, hence the darkness ... probably. Current RR colors are to be some shade of Gray with Blue and gold trim/highlights, so the logo *should* show up pretty good. I did find outlines of the type of power railroad uses so I will go from there and adjust things accordingly while playing with the overall paint scheme.

Thanks for the comment though!

@bnsf971 - RR time frame is '68 - '72ish so it sounds like I am good to go on a 'busier' logo.

L8r

Yes, I'm using the dark background.

Good morning all!

happy Friday!

Been on a few times this morning but this is the first time I've been able to sit long enough to bang out a post. Busy bunch this morning!

Kind of a cloudy overcast morning. Thunderstorms are supposed to move thru the area from 10-11am then become partly sunny. Currently
its 67F with a high of 79F.

Already have laundry rolling and dishwasher empty from Wednesday. Didn't do it yesterday because I forgot about it and we wouldn't use it
anyway since dinner was going to be out due to sports travel. Not sure what else will crop up but something usually does.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good morning folks, 72 here and drizzling. Waiting for the shower guys to get here to finish the shower, the work they did yesterday was excellent and I am picky. My Missus fed me cold/flu pills this AM because I have been fighting something the last couple of days. And she thinks I ought to put the gas station on a different module so you can see the front better. I might name it "Onion Oil" if you get that, you are a Stooge's fan after my own heart. Will need to paint up three workers as Moe, Larry and Curly to staff the place.

Didn’t Lionel make locomotives in pink?
You are correct sir!

Not just one, but three unique Lionel Girls Train Sets, each featuring a pink locomotive and matching tender.

1. 1957 Original 1587S

2. 1991 Reissue 6‑11722

3. 2000s Post-War Celebration Series 6‑31700

The 1957 Girls Set (1587S) was a commercial flop. Lionel expected it to bring girls into the hobby… but the market wasn’t ready for pink locomotives and pastel freight cars.

What happened?

1. Stores couldn’t sell them. They sat on shelves. They were eventually discounted.

2. Lionel took back unsold sets. Retailers returned inventory that simply wouldn’t sell.

3. Lionel scrapped large quantities. Unsold sets were dismantled, destroyed, or used for parts. Pink locomotives were repainted black. Pastel cars were stripped or tossed.

4. Very few complete originals survived.

That’s why today:

The pink 2037 locomotive is one of the hardest postwar pieces to find and one of the most valuable. In mint condition the locomotive alone can fetch $2,000–$3,000

A complete 1957 set is extremely rare. It can and will sell for anywhere from $4500-$7500 and up.

The original pastel freight cars are collector's gold as well.

This is exactly why you see modern reissues everywhere - but the 1957 originals almost never show up except at high‑end auctions.

Afternoon all,

Stealing a few minutes between stuff this afternoon. Wife had a couple of appointments and we had lunch at a local diner.

Not a lot this afternoon. Rain yesterday and this morning put about an inch and a half on the lawn. Started running the sprinkler system on Sunday night cycle and cut off last night's cycle. Be at least Tuesday before they run again. Made it to the middle of July before running them. That's a good thing! Supposed to be in the low to mid 100's starting Sunday with a feels like in the 110° to 115° range through the next week.

Was that a tub\shower conversion? We did that in our master bath a couple years ago and love it. We did a curtain instead of the doors as the space is small and if emergency services has to come rescue one of us out of the shower, they won't have to worry about breaking the shower glass doors.

With all the other projects I have or had going I never gave you all a progress report on my little creek mining company build. Honestly, I hit a wall on it and have not got back to it. I've decided to just make a diorama out of it instead of building a cabinet with tunnels and such at this time. Just many other things that have to be done as many of us do.

Here are a few pictures of where I'm at on this model.

Good Afternoon from a weather-confused SFW estate. NWS had predicted mostly clear and a high of 98°. Mother Nature gave us cloudy and a high just barely hitting 90°! No problem with that, but she also pitched in with a minor rain sprinkling around noon, that didn't register in the gauge. Pool temperature has cooled down to just 89°, a tad warm but still refreshing. Getting away with just running one window A/C for the whole house. Of course that energy savings will be negligible overall, especially after the 110° on Tuesday when all three were running to the max.

Been out in the train shed all afternoon since I just decided to take it easy today for a change. Just some minor detailing here and there for now. I did add 16 figures to various scenes, all people and no animals.

Got to go now and hit the pool again before extending the "take it easy" into going to Outback for supper tonight. We're giving them a "last chance" before dropping them from our rotation.

Later folks.

No, we had the old shower ripped out and this was enlarged with bars added. The old one was tile and Andra hated cleaning it, this is a Vinyl that looks like tile but is smooth!
